Friday the 13th, A Full Moon, and Metric Ton of Edits
This week was one of those rare weeks where I got next to no writing in. It's an occurance that can easily be blamed on the glut of edits I have right now.Monday, I worked on a book that I'm in one of the middle rounds of edits on (it's the one that got super colorful Wednesday night. Tuesday and most of Wednesday were spent going through my editor's notes and shoring up the next book for it's

The "Pretty" Side of Editing
I've posted on this before, but since I'm elbows deep in a new revison of an old manuscript, I decided to revisit it.Janice Hardy wrote a post about this a while ago (http://blog.janicehardy.com/2012/01/f...) and since then, I've been enamored with it.My categories are a little different than hers (though I do occasionally go through this in different rounds,

Adaptability as a Tool
Last week I set out a w/c goal for this month. As of last night, I changed it.
Mostly, I did this because I started to get concerned with quantity. It didn't matter so much what I worked on, as long as I got the right number of words down. That strategy is fine - especially when, like me, you work time into your schedule to account for the fact you're writing all over the place. But this weekend

Screwing Up Alexandria by C. M. Keller!
C. M. Keller's Screwing Up Time series has been going strong since the first novel released in 2011.
Today the third full length novel is out, and she's here to talk about she picked the locals of the four stories she's published to date!
Thanks, Amy, for inviting me to your blog today!

Bright, Shiny & New: The Idea
I do not know a writer who is starved for ideas. In fact most of us/them have too many. We always have the folder full of plots written out just so far as we have time for.
On an average week, I probably annoy the crap out of my husband by saying, "I'm going to write a book!" we laugh and then I tell him what about, and he usually just files it away... which is exactly what I do too.

Admin Days
So, I don't write full time. I have a day-job. But I'm super fortunate to be able to write at that job. This is part of the reason I'm able to get in as high of word counts as I do.
But some days, I have to take what I refer to as "admin days" these are days when I don't really do any writing, I just work on the behind the scenes stuff. Talking to cover artists, scheduling out the month,

Review Bitlets
The Mercy Thompson Series & the Cry Wolf series by Patricia Briggs
I
worked my way through these books from December of last year until
April (Reading other things in between as well) and I’m a little sad
I’ve caught up to what’s out in paperback for the moment.
Oddly,
my favorite of the series so far is the one most people that I’ve talk
don’t like as much (River Marked). I think,
