Vicki is a native of the Charleston, South Carolina, Lowcountry and loves to share her enchantment with the area with readers through her writing. Even in childhood, she enjoyed penning stories and poems—no doubt fueled by her grandfather's enthusiasm for telling tales himself. Where else—but in the South—could one find the interesting blend of salt water, eerie swamps, unwritten traditions and unique characters? In her spare time, she loves traveling, spending weekends at her family's lake house, painting and cooking (with lots of wine). Visit Vicki at http://www.vickiwilkerson.com .

The juxtaposition of these slices of life would make one live more fully in the moment, seeing all that one possesses and--at the same time--all that one is poised to lose.(less)

Symbolism Is in the Eye of the Beholder

Just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so follows symbolism. Symbolism adds depth and meaning to works of literature. It causes people to engage in the process of reading, to infer, to contemplate.
I work hard to build symbolism into each novel I write and into each poem I pen.

For years, as a high school English teacher, I taught students how to access symbolism as a literary device to unl Read more of this blog post »

This dystopian novel was difficult to enter as the author is building her new world, but once acclimated, I really enjoyed it. At times it was raw and gritty and "smelly". Two fake scenes annoyed me, and the ending is...different.

I wrote this book with my own, dear grandmother in mind. Working on the pages was like being with her when I was a little girl. This is a clean, wholesome read. Again, I have to like my own book, right? Enjoy!

“He took one step out of her office cubical, turned, and said, “I’m not going to bite you, ya know.”

She closed her eyes. Biting. An image of him nibbling at her neck took her by surprise and she dropped her pen. She startled and opened her lids. He was far more dangerous than she had first imagined. Even her thoughts weren’t safe from the perilously handsome man.”
