Those who can, do. Those who can do no longer, teach - or better still, write. Tom Vetter has done both - living it first and then writing about it. As a naval officer he served more than two decades in submarines and deep submergence vehicles. During his career then-Commander Vetter sailed more than 100,000 miles on and undersea. He operated diesel and nuclear submarines during the Vietnam and Cold Wars, piloted the Navy’s bathyscaph TRIESTE II (DSV-1) and commercial submersibles, and found men, equipment, aircraft and shipwrecks on the seafloor on dives venturing deeper than 3 miles. His undersea exploration and search innovations are still used by the U.S. Navy and others.

"...An author discovers that the fiction he is writing is not only true, but also that all his major characters are actually his ancestors..."

I was two years and two books into my five-book "Siege Master" series on the First Crusade when by complete happenstance I discovered that I am a first or second cousin (many times removed) to most of the major historical persons I write about: the royal families of England and Scotland, and the princes who led the First Crusade.

How the heck did THAT happen? And it makes me wonder: Am I really writing fiction? Or am I actually writing from inherited ancestral memories of those people and events?(less)

Yup. How's this for a true horror tale?

After I finally gave in yesterday and got the abortion my boyfriend wanted because he said we can't afford kids, he said, "Great, now you can't chase me for child support!" and then he dumped me.

So as I sit watching the blood ooze from my wrists I cry; because I can't help wondering: Would my unborn daughter have looked like me?(less)

It’s done! March To Nicaea is out!

March To Nicaea The Recollections of Lord Godric MacEuan on the First Crusade (The Siege Master Book 3) by Tom Vetter Well, I missed Black Friday. And I missed Christmas. But I made New Years. The epub edition should be available this week in other fine online bookstores.

It took too long — much too long — to publish. Coping with fifty-plus illustrations and maps made revising the Read more of this blog post »

“The sea is everything. It covers seven tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. It is an immense desert, where man is never lonely, for he feels life stirring on all sides. The sea is only the embodiment of a supernatural and wonderful existence. It is nothing but love and emotion; it is the Living Infinite. ”
