“In fact, she rather liked it, and found that their mutual lack of language skills freed them from the banalities of conversation.”
Violet Kupersmith, The Frangipani Hotel: Stories

“For one insane, brief moment, Mia imagined that Tuan was somehow able to see into her mind, her heart, and that his horror had been in response to seeing all the ugliness that was there beneath the skin, gnawing a hole somewhere deep and vital inside her.”
Violet Kupersmith, The Frangipani Hotel

Please do not vote if you have no intention of reading the book you're voting for!

... We all have times when we want to read the book we vote for, we plan to read the book we vote for... but other books cut in line. That's fine, no worries. But please, if you know there's no way you can participate in the discussion or you already know you won't be able to read your book, then please give the voting a miss this time to avoid skewing the results. Thanks for understanding!
