I write scary things. I won the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror category because of it for POE (no, not about that Poe).

My latest novel, DEAD SOULS, was called "wickedly entertaining" by the New York Times, and I'm currently at work on THE NIGHTMARCHERS.

Active member of the Horror Writers Association. Cautious of cane spiders.

"This book is one of the scariest and best to come down the pike in ages....The narrative twists and turns are reminiscent of Dean Koontz or Stephen King at their finest. This story is horribly, horrifyingly awesome." PUBLISHERS WEEKLY starred review for DEAD SOULS

The Darkness

It sounds corny, cliché, but the truth is that when I saw my mother’s body in the coffin at the wake, she looked…good. Like she was taking a well-deserved nap. When I reached out a hand to touch her forehead, it was a true s... Read more of this blog post »

Glad you liked my POE excerpt - astonishing that it made it considering the competition. I read so many excerpts of books I'd love to buy. Keep trying - one of this year's finalists (Ken Moraff) was a semi-finalist last year. Hope you enjoy the whole book when it's out!

Davonna Juroe Thanks for finding me and for the friendship, J! Congrats on winning the ABNA in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror category. I remember your entry. It was fantastic! I had entered this year too. So great that POE is being released by 47North! All the best to you and your October launch!

Literally Pema means "lotus", but like many words in the Tibetan language, it has layered symbolic meaning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist.... When I was at a retreat, we used it as shorthand to describe someone who was gentle and kind.
