Hi! I’m Christine Campbell and I’m a writer.

There! I stood in the middle of the circle and owned up. I am a writer: a novelist, in particular. I write contemporary fiction: strongly character-based, relationship novels…with a smidgen of romance and a generous dusting of mystery and detection.

I have learned a lot about my craft since that wonderful night when I held my first completed, printed manuscript novel in my arms. My first book-baby.

I have now had seven novels published. It’s so exciting when your book-babies grow up and leave home. As mother of five grown-up, married children and ten grandchildren, I know a lot about babies growing up and leaving home!

Unraveling this mystery intrigued me and I actually managed to find and meet my birth father when I was forty years of age.
Although I haven't used this exact circumstance as a plot line, I have already used elements of it in two of the novels I have written, Family Matters and Here at the Gate, as well as referencing it in The Reluctant Detective series I wrote.(less)

There are so many wonderful books out there, with wonderful couples in them, like the Bennets in Pride and Prejudice - Mr Bennet, an aloof but caring father, Mrs Bennet, a silly, frivolous mother to their children. I love their interactions. They are comical, yet somehow we know they married for love and that love still exists despite being stretched and put under much strain by their own natures as well as by circumstance. (less)

Is There a Writing Gene?

I’ve often wondered where I got my love of writing. My mother and my sister, my cousins and my aunts, none of them seem to have that particular passon. My mother and my sister read a lot, especially my sister. I remember when we were growing up, how hard it was to rouse her from a good story; she really did typify the saying, ‘lost in a book’. As far as I know, she’s still the same.

Brigid Gallagher answered Christine Campbell's question: Brigid P. Gallagher
My apologies Christine. Although I log in most days, I did not see your question till now.
It took me four years to write and publish my book with a lot of stops and starts! Sometimes I just had to take a big break.
My blog is a lot easier to manage a See Full Answer

It is my memoir so the idea was there for some time. However, I got the push to write it after entering a memoir writing competition back in summer 2012.
