MY REVIEW:🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
An engaging, heartwarming collection ofuplifting devotions for children and adults . . .
These two gifted authors have created apowerful reference book for individuals of all ages to use in their dailydevotional time. The devotions are divided by breed of dog. Basic informationabout the breed and their origin and behaviors is included along with an'Unleash the Truth' section comprised of an applicable scripture. The 'Fido411' section gives an interesting example of a dog or an historical event involvingthe breed.
Readers are encouraged to participate inthe 'Digging Deeper' and 'Weekly Tail-Waggers' activities included in eachdevotion. The 'Digging Deeper' section asks the reader a question relating tothe theme of the devotion ("What kinds of things do you worry about?"pg. 91). The 'Weekly Tail-Waggers' section gives readers a task to performrelating to the theme of the devotion.
Another element of this book I found tobe valuable for youngsters and adults, is the suggestion that they keep a personaljournal to write down their thoughts, feelings, etc. Journaling is an effectiveway to stay in touch with one's feelings and to gauge progress on a goal.
Because the theme of the book is targetedat dog lovers, this content will be very appealing to children. I can envisionthis collection becoming a family-time devotional for years to come. The bookis completely clean and age-appropriate in content and language.
I received a copy of this book from thepublisher through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and opinionsshared here are solely my own.

They stood before a ratherseedy-looking manor, vacant for the last decade but owned by the Asbury family. The property had been for lease for some time, probably because of itsproximity to the Horse-monger Lane Gaol. She had been certain they could securethe tenancy but had not considered the owner’s reservations about theiroccupancy.
It was as if, from her birth, Godhad decided her path would be obstructed and she would have to fight for everyinch in this life. She would spend the rest of her natural existence strivingto atone for her past, overcoming hurdle after barrier—yet it was a past He hada part in subjecting her to.
She had long ago given up expectinglife to be fair.
Philippa considered Mr. Asbury, whatshe knew about him, his fussy mannerisms, his foppish dress, the way he lookedat her as if not quite able to forget what she had been.
Time to lay on some charm.

Living in Watchogue byDanika Delaney
I own the Coffee & Cream Café, whichused to be my Uncle Jimmie’s ice cream parlor, in my home town of Watchogue,New York, a small town on the south shore of eastern Long Island. Though I grewup in Watchogue, I spent several years—up until last year, anyway—living in NewYork City. Manhattan to be exact, which technically is still an island but sodifferent from Watchogue it may as well be a million miles away instead of lessthan a hundred. Anyway, after running to New York to pursue a degree inmarketing I’ll probably never use, I agreed to return home and take overJimmie’s when my family summoned me.
Life in Watchogue moves at a much slowerpace, and I can’t say I miss the hustle and bustle of the city. I love beingback with my family, even if they do drive me a little crazy, especially AuntMiriam. I easily picked up my friendship with Gwen, my best friend sincechildhood. And I’ve become very close with Eli, the barista I hired who alsohappens to be a cybersecurity expert, which has come in handy a time or two.
Since I live just a few miles down thebeach from my shop, I often walk there when I’m stressed. If it’s warm enough,I take my shoes off and walk along the surf. During the summer months, the beachesare crowded, even fairly early in the morning, but in the spring and fall I’moften one of only a few people strolling along the shore. Staring out acrossthe bay waters brings a sense of peace I’ve never managed to find anywhereelse. Until, of course, I stumble over a body in the dunes—then, not so much.
Watchogue is small. You can drive acrossthe entire town in a matter of minutes, less if there’s no traffic. Althoughsummer brings flocks of tourists to Long Island, most of them don’t stop inWatchogue. They continue on to Quogue, the Hamptons, and Montauk. At least, they did before Veritas opened. Veritas is a new night club on the bay, and itis the happening place this summer. Or, it was, before I stumbled over saiddead body of the owner’s wife on the beach outside its doors.
Now, my small town has become the centerof a murder investigation involving a drug cartel from the city, mysort-of-boyfriend, Detective Jake Barlow, (as a suspect not an investigator)and my friends and sister. How I ended up in the middle of this mess is beyondme.
But all in all, I love living in thesmall Long Island community. I can always stop in the local diner, bakery ordeli and get the latest gossip. I have close friends I wouldn’t trade for theworld. And I have the cafe I’ve worked so hard for. Now, if bodies would juststop turning up, life would be just about perfect.

~ FRIDAY FICTION FEATURE HIDDEN SECRETS BETWEEN THEM ~
🐎🐕🌻🌸💞🐎🐕🌻🌸💞🐎
Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for Hidden Secrets Between Them by Mindy Obenhaus hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
🐎🐕🌻🌸💞🐎🐕🌻🌸💞🐎
Title:
Hidden Secrets Between Them
Series: Hope Crossing #5 Author: Mindy Obenhaus Publisher: Love Inspired Books Release Date: August 20, 2024 Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance He never meant to be a father.
But it could be the life he’s always wanted.
In Hope Crossing, Texas, nurse practitioner Kirsten Reynolds has found her dream job. The only problem is that the tiny town also has Deputy Brady James…the father of her four-year-old sons. And he doesn’t know the boys are his. But as he steps into this new role he never planned for, Brady gets a hopeful glimpse into a life with children. Will he let the fear of the unknown keep him from a future he never imagined…or will an adorable pair of twins—and their mother—change his mind?
🐎🐕🌻🌸💞🐎🐕🌻🌸💞🐎
EXCERPT:Nearing his southern boundary, children’s voices had Brady jerking his attention away from the fence to scan his surroundings.
Daisy gave a low growl.
“Easy, girl.” Finally, he spotted two identical little boys standing on the opposite side of the wire-mesh fence—right behind the Hart house. Both kids were dressed in jeans, one sporting a red jacket while the other’s was blue. They were watching Butterscotch, the palomino mare who’d been skin and bones when Brady brought her here several months ago.
Eyeing the ranch-style house behind them, he tugged the reins, bringing Digger to a stop. “Daisy, stay.”
The canine whimpered yet complied.
Brady’s heart pounded as he glimpsed Kirsten’s sons for the first time. He swallowed around the sudden lump in his throat. His sons.
“Hi, horsey.” The one in red reached an arm through one of the wire rectangles.
“Horsey,” the other one called in a singsong manner.
While Butterscotch ignored them, Brady couldn’t look away. His pulse raced. And he felt a slow smile building.
He wanted to get closer. To see them better. But he didn’t want to scare them. He was a stranger, after all.
“You guys see that?” he whispered to his companions. “Those are my sons.”

MY REVIEW:⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐A heartwarming, inspirational Western romance storythat will leave readers with a feeling of hope . . .
This is theauthor's fourth book in her 'Hope Crossing' miniseries. I read the first twobooks in the series and loved them! Before I began reading this story, I askedmyself how can I possibly enjoy a new story as much as I enjoyed Book 1 – 'TheCowgirl's Redemption' or Book 2 – 'A Christmas Bargain?'
The answer quicklybecame apparent to me. This gifted author has stretched herself to write astory where the characters break through barriers and boundaries they had builtaround their own hearts to experience what God had planned for their lifejourneys all along. The story illustrates the manner in which His plans andblessings for us seem to have a way of bringing us the greatest joy and genuinehappiness.
The two maincharacters, Kirsten Reynolds and Brady James, are surrounded by their loveablefamilies and other residents of the small rural town of Hope Crossing, Texas. The animal characters are also favorites of mine because the author has a wayof making the personalities of the many four-legged characters included in thestory come alive on each page.
The faith elementis strong throughout this novel, and the book is completely clean in languageand content.
I received a copyof this book from the launch as a member of her launch team. All of my thoughtsand opinions shared here are solely my own.
Highly recommendedfor fans of Western romance, inspirational romance, Christian fiction,Christian romance, and clean contemporary fiction.

📝✉🔍🔎🔦 📝✉🔍🔎🔦 📝
EXCERPT:
From Chapter 26Camilla noticed the gunman at the same time I did and screamed,“Matt, watch out!” just as we found cover behind a statue of Charlemagnestanding outside the cathedral’s gate. Another bullet bounced off the bronzefigure as we huddled together behind its concrete base.
By this point, others in the area were yelling, screaming, andsearching for places of cover. I peeked around the statue and could see thegunman walking directly toward us, gun hand extended straight out, simplywaiting for his opportunity. He was wearing black jeans and a dark button-downshirt, with wrap-around sunglasses hiding his eyes. He had jet black hair, cutvery short. I could see a large tattoo extending above his collar and up hisneck.
He fired again, the bullet chipping the concrete only inchesfrom my head. Another shot hit the sidewalk just to our left and then anotheron the right. I think he was enjoying this, effectively preventing us fromfleeing until he managed to finish the job. My overloaded mind failed to comeup with a plan of action that had any chance of success. This was the end. Ipulled Camilla into me and held her tight, bringing a quick reflection of oursimilar experience in the burning house. We were miraculously saved once, but….
Camilla suddenly pushed herself away from me and bolted to ourright. Startled, I looked that way and noticed a small girl curled up, cryingloudly only fifteen feet away. Camilla’s instinct was to protect the child. Shewould need only four or five steps to reach the girl, but it took the gunmanjust two of those steps to zero in and squeeze the trigger. After one shotmissed behind her, the next hit Camilla in the side, jolting her into the walla few feet short of her goal. She fell to the ground awkwardly, managing toreach out her hand as she came to rest with an audible groan. The young girlstretched to put her small fingers into the offered hand just as Camilla’s eyesflickered shut.
Overflowing with emotion and rage, I yelled somethingunintelligible as I stood and tried to move toward Camilla. The man advancedwith a silenced gun pointed at my head, blocking my path. A curl of a smileappeared on his thin lips as he looked me over, appraising his conquered prey.It was a smile projecting confidence, success, and superiority.
I hoped he sensed something other than fear in my eyes as Iglared back at him. The Bible says I am supposed to love my enemy. Reality, though, is a challenging teacher and, in this instance, I am probably flunkingthe test.

Harriet's mom calls her Harriet Hurry-Up--and it's easy to see why. There's nothing this little girl can't stand more than waiting. From a slow pokey sun that won't rise before she does, to the shy sprouts on her school potato experiment, to the long line at the store with Mom, everything takes forever for Harriet. Why, oh, why can't this day just go faster?
But with her Gran's help, this impatient little girl is learning to trust God's timing and find the blessings he puts in every single day--if she can just slow down long enough to see them.
With rhymed text that kids will love and colorful, whimsical illustrations full of surprises, Harriet Hurry-Up and the Oh-So-Slow Day! will quickly become a family favorite. It's perfect for birthdays, back-to-school reading, and for anyone--child or adult--who finds that having patience is hard.

MY REVIEW:
A delightful children's picture bookthat children and their families will relate to . . .
Harriet does everything in high gearbecause she does not want to wait for anything. The illustrations and textreveal some everyday situations as examples of her lack of patience. Humor wasa critical element in this story, and it was one of the things I enjoyed aboutthe book.
The illustrator has done a great job ofcreating vivid, engaging artwork that will immediately draw youngsters into theaction. Her clever use of brilliant hues of pink, blue, purple, and green mademe say, 'Wow,' as I turned the pages.
The story is introduced by an OldTestament scripture about patience. The author uses the three essential keys ofbuilding literacy skills in young children—rhyme, rhythm, and repetition—throughouther text. There are some surprises at the end of the stories that children willthoroughly enjoy.
The 'Learning to Wait' section in theBack Matter of this book includes two sections: 'For Kids' and 'For Parents & Caregivers.' These sections includevaluable tips for both age groups on how to use simple activities to helpyoungsters learn how to and practice being more patient.
This book is completely clean inlanguage and content. Highly-recommended for families, church and temple libraries,faith-based children's classes, and anyone who is interested in reading a textfilled with hope and whimsy while viewing lovely illustrations.
I received a copy of this book from thepublisher through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughtsshared here are solely my own.

One Perfect Dress--three different Love stories
In this brand-new novella collection, three renowned Christian historical fiction authors trace generations of wartime romances through a special wedding dress with love sewn into its seams.
"A Heart in Disguise" by Rachel Scott McDanielClara Westlake loves her job as a seamstress in the US "Camouflage Corps," sewing suits for snipers and contributing to the war effort. But when she overhears a threat against her beloved New York City, the Great War comes too close to home--except no one believes her forewarning. She must recruit Marcus Reeves, a childhood friend searching for his purpose after suffering a devastating war injury. As they search for answers together, they may also uncover a love that lasts.
"A Letter to Eli" by Allison PittmanBette and Alice are lifelong friends, trying to make a good life for themselves in New York City while World War II rages. It's never far away from their thoughts--not with Alice's fiancé serving at sea, in danger every minute. That's a worry Bette doesn't envy. Then a secret letter reunites her with her soldier ex-boyfriend, now wounded and back in the States. But can the innocent love these two had before the war be rekindled in the face of tragedy?
"A Daffodil in the Dress" by Susie FinkbeinerKate Becker and Ike Finch have worked together at his family's bookstore since Kate's husband died in the early days of the Vietnam War. She has her daughter, Eloise, to take care of and bills to pay, and this job was a godsend. A second love is not in the cards, especially not with the world still teetering on the edge of insanity. But when Ike brings little Eloise special flowers one spring day, Kate begins to look at him as more than an employer. Is falling in love again worth the risk?

EXCERPTS:
💗 ~ This excerpt is from'A Heart in Disguise' by Rachel Scott McDaniel
For the sake of the Allied powers, Clara Westlake pretended to be arock. Not in a figurative sense, as in an emotional slab of strength. No, she’dbeen ordered to imitate a stone. Her knee itched, and a rogue curl tickled theedge of her ear, but she focused on keeping still. After all, whoever heard ofa fidgety boulder?
At least she’d chosen a breathable fabric, which helped, consideringher whole person was swathed in her latest creation: an earth-toned camouflagesuit. The morning dew seeped through the burlap, making her entire left sidedamp. This posed new questions. Would a soldier prefer a loose, airy fabric forcomfortable breathing or one that would prevent moisture from leaking in? Thesogginess could prove miserable over time. Would cotton panels on the sideshelp? She mused over the possibilities while remaining crumpled on a stretch ofland in Van Cortlandt Park.
Because even though Clara was safely tucked beneath a towering mapletree in the Bronx, New York, the suit she now tested would be shipped overseasto an awaiting sniper. It was her job to make the soldier invisible to theenemy.

💗 ~ This excerpt is from 'A Letter to Eli' by Allison PittmanFrom the corner of her eye, shespotted a fashionably dressed and flawlessly coiffed woman who held the hand ofan equally stylish little girl. The child must have been about four years old,and she held her head at an angle identical to her mother’s, looking down hernose as she perused the footwear display.
“No,” Uncle Ray said, anticipating Bette’s next move.
“Come on,” she wheedled.
“You don’t work here.”
Bette gestured broadly. “No one’sworking here right now.”
“The girl’s at lunch. I can bringThea over from Women’s Shoes.”
“I promise to send her over toThea to make the sale. I wouldn’t have to beg you if you’d just hire mealready.”
“I’m already paying one familymember I can’t afford.”
“Good thing I’m not family.”
Uncle Ray acquiesced. “Fine. I’lllet you play shop girl. These rations will be the death of me. Push thegaloshes, will you? We’re overrun with them.”
Bette reached out and pinched abit of his jacket sleeve. “Thanks, Ray.”

This excerpt is from'A Daffodil in the Dress' by Susie Finkbeiner:
War was a thief. It stole life and beauty and joy. I hated it most ofall for stealing Neil from us. And for what purpose?
I was still waiting for God to answer that one.
Sometimes I wondered if he ever would.
Eloise pouted at the daffodils. That sad face would have broken Neil’sheart, I knew. He would have given her the moon if only to make her smile. Shewouldn’t have just had him wrapped around her little finger. She would have hadfull reign of his heartstrings.
I, however, wasn’t so easily persuaded, and Eloise knew it.
A year before, she might have thrown a small fit. Two years before, atantrum. This day, though, she pulled in her bottom lip and nodded, even if shehadn’t gotten her way.
My little girl was growing upinch by inch.
“Tell you what. We’ll let thesestay here.” I checked my watch. It was almost time for me to be at work. “Andwe’ll tell Mr. Finch to come see them.”
“Mr. Finch doesn’t like flowers,”she said, giggling. “He’s a man.”
“Oh, plenty of men like flowers.”I smiled. “Especially men who read poetry. Ready?”
She nodded and let me take herhand. We made our way to the other side of the park, leaving the daffodilsfirmly planted where they were.
Along the way, we stopped for afew seconds to listen to a man playing guitar under a giant elm. I let Eloisedrop a couple of dimes into his case. We skipped together for an entire blockuntil we got to the bookstore where I worked.
Spring was waking up, one yellowflower at a time.

MY REVIEW:🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟A memorable trio of Christian HistoricalMilitary Romance stories created by three skilled authors . . .
* ~ 'A Heart in Disguise' by RachelScott McDaniel: Set in New York City inthe spring of 1918, this World War I themed romance begins with a breath-takingscene involving the main female character, Clara Westlake. A gifted seamstressand clothing designer, Clara is working as a volunteer for the US governmentcreating camouflage uniforms for sharpshooters to wear in combat to hide theirpresence from the enemy. Her older brother and his best friend are both servingin Europe. Marcus has returned from France with a debilitating hand injury andmust learn to navigate his 'new' life. I will not soon forget the tendermoments they shared in their journey to becoming reacquainted. This story isone of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read . . .
**************
* ~ 'A Letter to Eli' by AllisonPittman: Set in New York City in thespring of 1943, Bette and her lifetime best friend, Alice, share a tiny one-bedroomwalk-up. Bette is a housekeeper at a nearby upscale hotel; Alice works in herfamily's department store. Alice's fiancé, Frank, is serving in Europe. Bette is single andtries not to worry about her former boyfriend, Eli, who is also servingoverseas. This story features some unique, quirky characters and scenes which Ireally enjoyed! There is an interesting subplot involving recycling and reusingsome items that were rationed to help with the War effort. Read the full storyto discover how Bette and Eli find their way back into each other's arms—andhearts.
**************
* ~ 'A Daffodil in the Dress' by SusieFinkbeiner: Set in New York City in thespring of 1969, this heartfelt story about a young Vietnam War widow and herfive-year-old daughter deeply touched my heart from the first word to the last.A thread about daffodils is woven into the story when Eloise, Kate's daughter, finds some yellow daffodils growing in the beds at Washington Square Park.Eloise wants to pick some of the flowers to take home, but Kate disappoints herdaughter when she tells the young girl she is not allowed to pick the flowers inthe park. Kate works in a book store and as the story progresses we learn whatan outstanding man her employer, Ike Finch, really is. He is kind, patient, andfriendly toward Eloise. When he learns that the young girl adores daffodils, hemanages to find a neighbor who gives him a small bouquet from her garden. Whenhe presents them to Eloise, I felt the entire story shifted momentum. This isone of my favorite historical romance stories I have read this year.
~ * All three of these stories are completely clean in languageand content. I especially enjoyed the inclusion of a beautiful, handmadewedding dress (seen on the book cover) from the first story in each subsequentstory.

~ WHERE TREES TOUCH THE SKY REVIEW TOUR POST ~
🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲
🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲 About the Book
Title:
Where Trees Touch the Sky
Series: National Parks Author: Karen Barnett Publisher: Kregel Release Date: August 13, 2024 Genre: Christian Fiction, Dual Timeline Some secrets have shadows as long as the redwoods are tall.
In the early 1920s, the accelerating destruction of the California redwoods is more than nature-loving Marion Baker can bear. Throwing herself headlong into the work of the Save the Redwoods League, she is shocked to learn that Frank Duncan, a man she's grown to love, is the son of one of the area's worst timber barons. Though devastated by the betrayal, she realizes this could also be an opportunity--if only she can convince him to help preserve her favorite grove from his father's greedy grasp. Is her love strong enough to persuade him to save these precious trees? Or will Marion choose to sacrifice her beliefs to keep Frank by her side?
Nearly fifty years later, in 1972, polio survivor June Turner is deeply proud of the legacy her great aunt Marion has left as a redwood warrior. And despite her disability, June is determined to prove herself capable as a ranger at the recently established Redwood National Park, even if it means taking to the trails with her crutch in hand. What better way to carry on the family tradition of preserving Gods magnificent creation?
When aspiring film student Adam Garner approaches June to help make a documentary about Marion's life, she swiftly grabs the opportunity to spread her aunt's worthy reputation. That is, until they unearth a secret that might shatter the family legacy. In the scramble for answers, June may lose not only her family pride but also her own dreams.
Karen Barnett's beautifully crafted split-time novel, set against the majestic backdrop of a beloved national park, immerses the reader in history that feels as fresh as if it happened yesterday.
🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲 EXCERPT:
If the color green had a scent, itwould smell like a redwood grove. Marion cradled the bouquet of roses in onearm and breathed deep of the fresh air. This was the one place she sensed God’svoice, as sure as she heard the wind whispering in the branches and the chatterof the trickling stream. Whenever her soul splintered, the forest had a way ofpiecing her back together. The treetops disappeared into the misty canopyseveral hundred feet above her head, but it wasn’t their size that gave hersolace. It was their age. Living to be over a thousand years old, these ancienttrees would likely consider her twenty-two as a mere blink of an eye.
Entering her favorite grove, Marionpulled off her cloche hat and gazed up at the large tree to her left. Sweetmemories flooded her mind. Years ago, she’d begun naming a few of the giantsafter people she had lost, transforming this section of woods into a personalmemorial garden. A sacred space.
🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲🌄❤️🌅🌲 MY REVIEW:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
An amazing split-time Christian romancethat immerses readers into the history and magnificence of the Redwood NationalPark on the Northern Coast of California in 1923 and 1972 . . .
As someone who has spent a lot of timein this spectacular park over the past twenty years, I was instantly drawn intothe story by the author's ability to capture the essence of this beautifullandscape during two eras of the twentieth century.
The author has not only shared a lot ofvaluable history about the park and the struggle between the lumber industryand courageous individuals who fought to protect the redwoods, she has givenreaders a sensory journey through the redwood forests.
The main female characters—Marion Bakerand June Turner—were strong faith-filled women who I would consider groundbreakersfor their time. Both were vocal about their dedication to saving the redwoodsand were willing to take on powerful opponents of their sustainability andconservation efforts. I particularly admired June because of a disability thatshe fought to overcome so she could reach her dream of becoming a park ranger.
The lead characters in the story wereflawed, as we all are, but they changed and matured with time and experience. Ienjoy stories where the characters grow to progress past their flaws andmistakes to become the individuals God has called them to be.
This inspirational story will stay withme for a long time . . . The story is completely clean in language and content.

He rapped his fingers against his knee. “I . . . I was ledto believe your situation was dire, and though you are not my responsibility, Ithought . . .” He stood and his features grew tense. His lips pulled into afirm line. “Forget it.”
