Welcome to Weldon, Kentucky, where no one can keep a secret forever.

The atmosphere in the community creates a deep yearning in Carson, and he thinks Kentucky is the perfect place for a new beginning. Carson hopes the country life will lead to his emotional healing from PTSD.
While Carson is having lunch at the local diner with Sparky Compton, a young doctor who’s captured his heart, Virginia Willoughby collapses. Sparky springs into action, but Carson struggles to maintain control of his emotions. Mrs. Willoughby’s daughter, Emma Baker arrives, and the magnetic pull of Emma’s gaze confuses Carson. She reminds him of someone, but who? Later, Emma wonders why she can’t stop thinking about the mysterious stranger when her heart belongs to pastor Luke Davis.
But there are secrets in the small town—and they will impact both Carson and Emma.
EXCERPT:
Carson Williams looked up from his menu when a stately womanin a tailored black suit paused beside him and gasped. Her blue eyes widened, and she crumpled to the floor. A loud crack sounded, and blood spread acrossthe green and white tiles at his feet.
His date, Dr. Sparky Compton, dropped her menu and kneltbefore the woman. “Mrs. Virginia.” Sparky’s voice held a tone of urgency.
Carson’s chest constricted, and his hands trembled. Mindfulmeditation usually helped him maintain control when an unexpected soundtriggered a flashback. He closed his eyes, drew in a deep breath, held it,exhaled, and breathed in another lungful of air.
The Triple D is a safe place. Weldon, Kentucky, is a safeplace. This wasn’t Reno. But what he’d just seen had been real, and he’dfailed to respond.
Carson gripped the edge of his seat and forced his eyesopen. Sparky’s slim fingers rested in the groove under the lady’s jawline.
“Yes!” Sparky looked up at him and beamed. “Mrs. Virginiahas a pulse.”
The restaurant owner, Dot, pushed through the crowd. “Whathappened?”
Sparky grabbed her pack and dug through it. “Mrs. Virginiacollapsed and hit her head. Call an ambulance.” She pulled on a pair of latexgloves. “Give us some privacy.”
Carson focused on the back of Sparky’s head where a Frenchbraid captured her blonde curls.
Dot removed a phone from her pink waitress uniform pocketand pointed to the door. “Folks, you heard the doctor. Please step outside.”
There was a low mumbling and clattering of plates as peoplestood and gathered their belongings.
Dot held the phone to her ear. “We need an ambulance atDot’s Deluxe Diner, corner of Main and Chestnut. Dr. Compton is here.”
“Tell them she’s unresponsive.” Sparky held an ammoniacapsule by her patient’s nose.
Carson couldn’t exit the booth without stepping over theunconscious woman, so he closed his eyes and concentrated again on breathing. If he couldn’t center himself, the paramedics would have two patients. Minuteslater, a siren pierced the air, and his body quivered. Don’t think. Breathe in. Hold it. Exhale. The pressure surrounding Carson’s ribcageintensified. He was suffocating. Why had he left his safe place? Carson huggedhimself and rocked in place. I’min a diner. I’m in Weldon, Kentucky. I’m safe. I’m safe. I’m safe. If he kept telling himself that, maybe hecould hold on to his sanity. Maybe.
Breathe.
If only he couldhave a normal life again. If only he could experience peace again, but hecouldn’t.

~ FRIDAY FICTION FEATURE MEET ME AT THE GRAND ~
[image error] Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for Meet Me at The Grand by Lindsay Harrel hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! ❤️🌊🐚🏨☀️⛱️💘❤️🌊🐚🏨☀️⛱️💘 About the Book [image error] Title: Meet Me at The Grand Author: Lindsay Harrel Publisher: Sunrise Publishing Release Date: April 22, 2025 Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance
She’s fighting to save her island’s legacy. He’s here to secure his family’s future. When their worlds collide, will they build something lasting—or tear each other apart?
Dani Sullivan is determined to revive Jonathon Island’s fading charm and reunite her fractured family. Her plan? Reopen the Grand Sullivan Hotel, a once-impressive landmark that’s been in disrepair for a decade. But without the funds to restore the hotel, Dani’s forced to accept help from Liam Stone—a big-city hotel developer whose sleek, modern vision is everything she’s trying to avoid.
Liam has never been one for small towns or rundown hotels, but this project isn’t just any job. His father’s health is declining, and if Liam can prove himself by turning the hotel around, he’ll finally earn the chance to take over the business so his dad can retire. But Jonathon Island is far from the high-end luxury projects he’s used to, and Dani’s fierce dedication to preserving its history clashes with everything Liam stands for.
As they battle over the future of the Grand, Liam starts to see Jonathon Island as more than just another project—it feels like the home he’s never had. But with his responsibilities pulling him back to Los Angeles, can he really stay? And can Dani trust him with her dream—and her heart?
A lot rides on the success of this project, but when emotions run high, will Dani and Liam find a way to work together—or will their differences tear them apart?
On Jonathon Island, love and loyalty are the ultimate balancing act. ❤️🌊🐚🏨☀️⛱️💘❤️🌊🐚🏨☀️⛱️💘 EXCERPT:
Liam turned to find a brown, double-bench golf cartheaded their way. “I thought motorized vehicles weren’t allowed here.” That’swhat the internet had said, anyway.
“Just golf carts and snowmobiles, and only in the offseason. And of course emergency vehicles. Sometimes construction vehicles, butonly for a very limited time and with a permit.”
Liam breathed a sigh of relief over that one. At leastthe hotel renovation wouldn’t have to revert back to the Dark Ages when they’dhad to use pulleys and ramps.
“Otherwise, it’s bikes and buggies for us,” Petecontinued. “Though we’ve only got a handful of horses on the island anymore, and they’re up on the Quinn property, so walking and biking are the only realoptions. Get used to using those things called legs.”
Liam laughed. “Thanks, Pete. I will.” He extended hishand.
Pete took his offering and shook. “Buckle up, FancyPants. Looks like Dani’s grabbing you today.” Then, whistling, he walked awaytoward another cart sitting near the building.
Danny? Maybe Seb had sent the director of tourism inhis stead. The guy who, apparently, would be giving Liam a more in-depth tourof the island and hotel, and with whom Liam would be working to get the plansapproved by the town council.
Turning, Liam lifted a hand in greeting as the golfcart, which was decked out with winter tires of all things, pulled to a haltbeside him. A woman—not a man—climbed from behind the wheel.
A beautiful woman, tall and willowy, despite her whitecoat, jeans, and brown duck boots. Her long blonde hair hung nearly to herwaist, and her big green eyes—framed over high cheekbones, a pert nose, andpretty lips turned downward—studied him. “Are you Mr. Stone?”
“Liam, please. Mr. Stone is my dad.” Liam steppedforward and shook her hand, which was much warmer than his, thanks to herlightweight yellow gloves. “And you are?”
“Dani Sullivan.”
“The director of tourism?”
“Were you expecting someone else? A man, perhaps?”
“What?” Liam coughed, caught off guard. “Not at all.”Then he flashed her a smile. “With all the great things Seb told my dad aboutyou, I thought you must be older.”
She looked him up and down. “I could say the sameabout you. This is a pretty big project. I guess I expected your father tocome.”
“He’s needed back at the office. But don’t worry, Ms.Sullivan. He sent the best.” Then he winked at her.
She frowned, clearly not impressed. “I hope that’s thecase. There’s a lot riding on this.”

Title: The Shop Down the Lane
Series: Letters from Lancaster County
Author: Leslie Gould
Publisher: Bethany House
Release Date: May 6, 2025
Genre: Amish Romance
Leslie Gould delights in this sweet and humorous Amish romance reminiscent of The Shop Around the Corner and You've Got Mail.
Lois Yoder has always found solace in the quiet life of Paradise, Pennsylvania, where she manages a gift shop that reflects her Amish community's simple values. Her tranquil world is upended when Moses Lantz, a former Amishman turned Mennonite and the man who broke her heart, buys the shop with ambitious plans to transform it into a tourist hub--a move that Lois fiercely opposes.
Seeking a distraction, Lois joins a bird watchers' circle letter under an alias. But unknown to her, Moses does the same at the urging of a friend. While their correspondence blossoms into a tender romance, the enmity between Lois and Moses in real life only intensifies. Can they overcome their animosity and embrace the love they've found through their letters, or will their stubborn hearts keep them apart forever?
This heartwarming Amish romance includes themes of bird watching, correspondence by letters, enemies to lovers, and family secrets for readers of Beverly Lewis, Wanda E. Brunstetter, and Shelley Shepard Gray.
EXCERPT:
Asinteresting as the circle letter sounded, she forced Amy’s letter and Teresa’ssheet of information back into the envelope and slipped it into her apronpocket. She had no desire to join a circle letter. After she’d moved back toBig Valley, Amy, three other friends from their days as scholars, and Loisstarted one. By the time the letter traveled from one member, who wrote a page,to the next, who wrote another, to the next, the whole process became painfullyslow. How would it work with birding? By the time a letter came around, itwould be the next season—or worse, the next year.
When she stepped back into the shop,Scotty and Moses were standing by the birch tree, looking at the birdhouses andbirds.
Moses, due to his arrogance and lackof self-awareness, most likely didn’t realize he was an accidental—abird who showed up where he shouldn’t have. Like a mangrove cuckoo inPennsylvania.
Scottyturned. “Lois.” He stepped toward her, and she handed him the envelopes. Scottytook them and motioned toward Moses. “Moses, this is Lois Yoder. Lois, MosesLantz.”
“Hallo,” Lois said, keeping her voiceas neutral as possible. She extended her hand.
He stepped forward as if he’d neverseen her before in his life. Either he was an excellent actor or a completejerk. He was definitely a strange bird. His grip was firm and professional, asif they really were meeting for the first time.
In his deep voice, Moses said, “I’mpleased to meet you.” She forced herself not to roll her eyes.
He shifted his gaze past her to thewall and dropped her hand and stepped around her. She turned. He headed towardthe bunting collage, perhaps relieved to have a distraction. “I have to havethis.” Lois suppressed a groan. Not the painted bunting collage.
Moses took his wallet from the pocketof his jacket. “I’ll buy it now.”

MY REVIEW:
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
A unique story about finding one's trueself as family secrets of the past are revealed . . .
This is a story that will remain with mefor a long time. The main characters are multi-dimensional individuals who are attemptingto live their authentic lives even though they don't understand just how their family's history has shaped theirpresent lives.
The author has given readers a fine giftby creating a bird watchers' circle letter group where readers can experiencean insider's view at the hearts of the participants in the circle through readingtheir heartfelt letters. I love stories told in the epistolary mode because Ibelieve that handwritten letters are treasures we can revisit many times.
Once she opens her heart, orphan LoisYoder discovers many people care for her and will support her in her quest tomake it on her own. She has a real gift interacting with the customers sheserves at the shop down the lane where she works. She is always willing to lenda helping hand to her friends and neighbors.
Moses Lantz is a successful businessmanwho lost his father in an accident. Now Moses is slowly losing his beloved motherto early-onset dementia and it causes this devoted son much pain to watch hismother disappear. He is a good-hearted man, but he is impulsive and thesmallest things seem to set him off.
I enjoyed this book's cover because thelovely photo of the young woman looking into the sky exudes pure joy atobserving God's handiwork in nature!
The faith thread woven throughout thisbook is strong and works in perfect sync for this genre. The book is completelyclean in language and content.

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,” Betsy whispered, hervoice raw.
“You don’t have to figure it out right now.” Gabe’s voicewas gentle. “We’ll take it slow. One step at a time.”
He’d said we’ll. The word settled deep in her heart.
Later, when they stood in the twilight by Thunder’s saddle,Gabe offered his hand. “I’ll help you up.”
She hesitated, then took it. Warmth spread through her, unexpected but welcome. Once mounted, she adjusted her skirts, and Gabe swungup behind her, his presence steady and solid.
They rode in silence for a while, Thunder’s hooves beating agentle rhythm beneath them. Finally, she murmured, “You don’t have to do this.”
“Do what?”
“Take care of me.”
“I want to.”
Simple words. No strings. But they wrapped around her like awarm blanket in winter.
As they approached her home, Gabe dismounted and helped herdown. Their hands lingered longer than necessary.
“Thank you, Gabe.”
“Anytime, Miss Smith. You know that.”
And she believed him.

“Help . . . me.” The hoarse, croaked plea came out in avoice that didn’t sound anywhere close to his usual baritone.
No response.
Whoever had done this to him must have a heart of stone.
Or else they’d hightailed it out of here after rendering himdefenseless.
What kind of scumbag would attack an innocent man and—
Wait.
Was it possible Dad had started renting the cottage again andhadn’t told him? Had he walked in on paying guests who’d assumed he was anintruder and doused him with pepper spray?
Oh, geez.
This day was going from bad to worse.

MY REVIEW:An enjoyable read featuring wonderfulcharacters and a lovely setting . . .
The meet-up for the two main characters(in Chapter 2) is one of the most unique I've ever read—and I've read a lot ofChristian romances over the past couple of decades!
Coffee barista, Bren Ryan, is having areally bad thirtieth birthday. Her rental catches on fire due to electricalissues in the morning, and then after dark she has a scary encounter withsomeone she doesn't know entering the cottage where she is staying temporarily.
The stranger is Noah Ward, the son ofthe cottage's owner. He is the complete opposite of Bren in almost every senseof the word, so their feathers are ruffled frequently causing both individualsto question why they were thrown together at this time.
As they work through their initialproblems and learn to see the other as a friend rather than a foe, the storybecomes very interesting. Their relationship grows and becomes more personaland more positive.
As always, the small Oregon coastal townof Hope Harbor has no shortage of great characters and side plots that providereaders with engaging scenes and great dialogue to enjoy.
This book is completely clean inlanguage and content. I received a copy of this book from the publisher throughJustRead Publicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here aresolely my own.

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴
About the Book[image error] Title: Some Like it Scot Author: Pepper Basham Publisher: Thomas Nelson Release Date: April 8, 2025 Genre: Christian Contemporary RomanceShe lives her life on the fly. His heart is double-knotted to home. Can two different souls create a life together?
Popular travel writer and podcaster Katie Campbell roams the world collecting other people's stories. She's built a career as "Miss Adventure," known for saying yes to anything new--country, food, or experience--and predictably finding those adventures taking a downward turn into misadventures.
Offered the chance to explore her ancestral roots through a three-week Edwardian experience, Katie finds herself immersed in the beauty and eccentricity of Scotland. In her period attire, with traditional foods and activities, the opportunities for misadventures are endless, especially with the presence of a maniacal macaw, a jealous co-worker, and an all-too-surly Scotsman.
Reclusive and protective Graeme MacKerrow doesn't venture far from his island home. A stoic Scotsman, Graeme's comfort zone has always been family, and after his sister's death, he's even more determined to save the MacKerrow ancestral home and keep those he loves close. The sudden intrusion of a six-foot-one American lass, famous for her traveling misfortunes, was far from his plan.
As this world of folklore, community, and woodworkers-in-kilts tempts Katie to discover her own story, could this one grand series of misadventures lead her directly to where she belongs? And would a settled-in-Scot ever risk loosening his grip on what's familiar to allow a wanderlust writer a home in his heart? How could their very different worlds share the same page of life's story when "home" is in two very different places? But maybe home--and the future--isn't quite what either one imagined it would be. Maybe home is less about a place . . . and more about a person. 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 ❤️ 🏴 EXCERPT:
Katie
There are some dresses that areflattering to more voluptuous figures.
After trying on four differentEdwardian styles, I came to the conclusion that perhaps these weren’t thosesorts of dresses.
Okay, not “perhaps”. Without adoubt. As my only high school boyfriend said, “Some girls are more like aguitar, but you are definitely a cello.”
Yeah, I dated one of those guys.
Needless to say, we didn’t date forlong.
At any rate, the entire “cello”comment was coming back to haunt me as these dainty and elegant gowns found ahard time making it over the bottom of my cello. And since high school, I’dgrown more into the top of my cello, so I had serious doubts about buttoningany shirtwaists too.
I rubbed at an aching spot on mytemple and transferred my frustration into a chuckle. From the shapes of thesegowns, rich Edwardian women were flutes.
And this cello was definitely notplaying the right song for Edwardian England.
Emily, the young maid who’dattempted to dress me, alerted Mrs. Lennox of the...unfitting. The matronarrived to find my bed littered with discarded gown options and me wearing apink day dress that hit too high on my calf and left an embarrassing pucker atmy chest. With another lift of those manicured brows of hers, she ran a palmover her now perfectly smooth hair. “Well, you certainly cannot presentyourself before guests with any bit of credulity in such a fashion. Nohigh-bred lady would be caught like…” She waved a palm toward me, her frowndeepening. “That.”
It took me a full five seconds tocomprehend her, but the intention rang as clear as her perfectly articulateddiction. The little curl of her lip probably helped too.
“Which means you won’t be able toparticipate in our activities until you have an appropriate wardrobe.” Shenodded, running her palm over her hair again. “It’s a very good thing youarrived early enough for us to solve this little dilemma.”
“You think you can?” I waved towardthe bed and cringed a little at the mound of discarded gowns. “I could justwatch from the sidelines.”
“No, of course not.” The wordswhipped out her. “You cannot fully appreciate the experience without actuallyparticipating. We have classes on everything from meal etiquette, to dancing,to the language of the fan.” Her hand rose in imitation of a fan opening. “Thisis a fully immersive program which requires complete participation. How can youfully critique our experience without comprehension saturation?”
Ah, so moving from cello analogiesto…sponges?
The fire in her eyes took a teensytip toward crazy. “Sidelines are not an option.”
Super. And fully immersive classes? Why did the idea stick somewhere in my mind between ‘run away’ and ‘mostembarrassing moment of your life’?
I kind of got the “obsession” feelwhen Mrs. Lennox gave me a ten-page booklet on the Craighill Experience whichcovered house rules and Edwardian etiquette.
Including…how to appropriate handleromantic relationships.
I caught my snicker before it burstout. Cello, sponge, or not, I didn’t plan to meet my perfect match at somecrazy baronial home dressed as a Downton Abbey character in the middle of“nowhere” Scotland. Oh no, no! I didn’t need to compete with crazy in arelationship.

MY REVIEW:
A unique blend of romantic comedy, Scottishculture, and observations of how past traumas shape who we become . . .
Katie Campbell is an award-winningtravel writer, podcaster, and editor from the United States. She is onassignment in Scotland where she is participating in an Edwardian experience forthree weeks at the ancestral home of the MacKerrow family. Katie has some ofthe most comical mishaps I've ever heard of, which makes her an endearingcharacter in my mind. Her essential character trait is her kindness towardothers.
Graeme MacKerrow is a gruff, grumpy Scotwho is artistically gifted as a woodworker and sculptor. He is still grievingthe loss of someone very close to him a few years prior to this story. Becauseof this lingering grief, he is not looking for a relationship with a woman.Still, there is something endearing about Graeme's sense of humor and his caringrelationships with his family members.
As the story moves on, we learn moreabout the traumatic events which have shaped Katie and Graeme into who they aretoday. The novel involves serious issues such as grief, mental illness, body-shaming,bullying, and unrequited personal dreams and career goals.
The 'punny' wit this author includes inher stories makes it a fun read for those who enjoy this type of humor. Myfavorite character was Lachlan, a young relative of Graeme's. He is a delightwho enjoys sharing time and Scottish legends with Katie. The descriptions ofthe Scottish countryside, folklore, and traditions throughout the book were engaging. The faith thread was very light.
This book is completely clean in languageand content. I received a copy of this book from the publisher through JustReadPublicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here are solely my own.

When thirty-something Shelby Phillips returns to her quiet hometown just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, she reluctantly takes over her mother’s Nimble Needle needlepoint shop—and gets entangled in a murder investigation . . .
It’s only temporary. That’s what Shelby Phillips tells herself when she returns to excruciatingly harmless Gwen Lake after her graphic arts career—and the office romance blooming with it—get tossed like rejected design mockups. Her plan is as simple and fool-proof as a tent stitch: manage the family needlepoint shop during her parents’ RV vacation. It’s just a month. It’s not as if they’re retiring . . . right?
When Shelby becomes responsible for hosting a trunk show with local vendors, she’s determined to pull it off. Even if that means dealing with former classmate Kat Katsaros, a rising entrepreneur specializing in needlework scissors. Kat has changed since high school—and she’s angling to take over the Nimble Needle herself. The tension unspools when Shelby makes a terrible discovery on the morning of the event: Kat’s dead body.
Shelby can’t believe the death was an accident. That’s why she’s set on exposing who committed the murder with Kat’s own equipment. She finds help in a new friend, a potential crush, and the surprising support of her sister and the Nimble Needle stitchers. Still, Shelby must move quickly to stop the crafty culprit before her maybe not-so-temporary new life in Gwen Lake comes apart at the seams . . .

EXCERPT:
As my first official day at theshop, yesterday was blessedly ordinary. Even after I did everything I couldthink of to get ready for today’s big event, I had time to spare. I spent sometime getting to know Mom’s two shop staff, Leona and JanLi. Both havebeen enormously supportive of my taking the helm of the shop. They piled on thecompliments all day long and went to great lengths to talk me up to anycustomer who walked in.
Today? Today hasn’t gone well atall.
JanLi gave me a panicked look at9:45 a.m. “We’re supposed to start in fifteen minutes,”she whispered. “Where is Kat?”
Kat was our special guest artistwho made exquisite needlework scissors in addition to her clever mobile knifesharpening business. She should have been here by now.
“Maybe she got caught in traffic?” I wonderedif Kat was more upset about being passed over to run the Nimble Needle than myMom realized. Would Kat be the type to pull a no-show just to make me look bad?
“We have to do something,” JanLi whispered asthe front door opened and three more customers walked in.
We had had enough absent-mindedartistic types on staff at Batterson Graphic Arts Design that I had developed asolid arsenal of good stalling tactics. “She’s an artist. They’re notoriously bad at keeping track of time.Set the coffee and goodies out and help people look around the shop.” I grabbedmy jacket. “I’ll just go take a look outside.”
I walked to the end of the blockto peer down the side of the street in both directions. Kat’s van was nowhereto be found. But just as I was turning back toward the shop, I caught a flashof purple between two trees a block or two away. Sure enough, on one of theside streets, I spied what had to be the back of her mobile sharpeningvan.
A last-minute nap?Knife-sharpening emergency? Whatever was holding Kat up, I needed to head overthere and get her underway to our shop. I picked up my pace to a light jog anddialed the shop from my cell phone.
“I found her,” I said when JanLi answered thephone. “I should be able to get her up to the shop in a minute or so.”
When I got closer to the van, Iheard a machine sound and rock music coming from the interior. Maybe she had tofix something at the last minute and had lost track of time. I knocked on theside of the van. When that brought no response, I ducked around to the driver’s side and peered in the window. The driver’s seat was empty.
“Kat!” I called, rapping on the window. “Hey, Kat,it’s time for you to be up at the Nimble Needle!”
No reply. I ducked around thecorner of the van and grabbed at one of the two back-door handles. With all mymight, I yanked. The door gave way easily, nearly knocking me backward. Therewas an oily smell to the air, and the whirring, slightly squeaky sound of alarge machine came from one side of the van. It took me a second to recognizethat the dark figure in the corner shadow was Kat, peering down at whatever shewas working on. Her face was blocked by her thick black hair.
Only she wasn’t moving.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than to combine my two passions ofneedlework and writing. Developing cozy mystery stories that dip into the worldof knitting and needlepoint is just about the best way to spend my day! So I amvery pleased to introduce you to my new series, The Nimble Needle Mysteriesfrom Kensington and its launch book ONE SHARP STITCH.
Shelby Phillips comes home to manage her mother’s needlepointshop for a temporary stint while her parents go on an extended RV vacation.Given that she’s just lost her graphic arts firm job to a corporate buy-out,she wasn’t flush with options. But coming back to Nina’s Nimble Needle givesShelby the chance to rediscover her artistic side.
It also gives her a chance to discover her sleuthing talents whena high school friend turns up dead. As it turns out, the charming quirkinessher hometown Gwen Lake hides some dark secrets and dysfunctional families.
Gwen Lake also hosts the cast of lovable characters I knowreaders adore in cozy mystery books. The NYAGs (which stands for Not YourAverage Grannies) are not only talented stitchers, they are shameless gossipsand relentless matchmakers. Shelby has her hands full keeping the shop running, hunting down clues, and wrangling the many personalities of her town. And thenthere’s Jake, the very handsome local auto mechanic.
I especially enjoyed giving readers an experience of the colorsand textures needlepoint brings to the world. They get a taste of how it feelsto watch a project come to life in your hands, taking the colors of the canvasand adding the texture of stitches. Needlepoint can be exquisitely complex ordelightfully simple—that’s the beauty of craft.
Even if you’ve never picked up a needle, I’m sure you will enjoythe story of Shelby and her sleuthing adventures! But if you give needlepoint atry when you close the cover, all the better!

“When are we gonna eat?”Her ever-hungry eldest looked her way.
“Soon. Aunt Dee justtexted that she’s on her way back.” She paused beside the wood-pellet grill.“But there are some carrots and hummus on the counter, if you need a snack.”

MY REVIEW:
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
An emotionally-moving story from one ofthis genre's best authors . . . Realistic characters, an awesome caninecompanion, two curious young boys, and two adults who are still dealing withtheir own past traumas fill the pages of this inspirational story with faith, hope, and love.
Tessa Wagner and Dirk Matthews have alot in common although they don't initially know that. When Tessa and her twoyoung sons visit her family's Legacy Ranch for the summer where Dirk isrenovating some buildings, their paths cross almost immediately.
Her eldest son, nine-year-old Grayson isa handful of bad attitude and mischief while he is still trying to adjust tolife without his father who died two years ago. When Grayson is seen taking avaluable tool off of Dirk's truck, an awkward encounter follows. That's whenTessa and her youngest son, six-year-old Bryce, meet Dirk and his caninecompanion, Molly, a black-and-white border collie.
Since the tool is damaged and unusable,Dirk offers to have Grayson 'work off' the cost of buying a new tool. Tessaagrees, and through their day-to-day work on the building Dirk and Graysonbegin to open up and they both benefit from their time together.
As the summer moves on, it is apparentthat Legacy Ranch is a great place for the boys and Tessa. Lots of outsideactivity time and time spent with their great-aunt and the ranch animals causethe two boys to begin hoping that they can live at the ranch after summer breakis over. Tessa begins to feel like a move from the city to the ranch wouldbenefit her little family, and she formulates a plan of action.
As always, a strong point of this bookis the author's strong faith thread woven throughout every chapter. This simplefact is one of the reasons I enjoy reaching her stories, but there is alwaysmuch more for readers to relish—multi-dimensional characters, unique settings, nature, humor, and in this book we have the delightful addition of Molly.
This story is completely clean in languageand content. I received a copy of this book from the author as a member of herlaunch team. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here are solely my own.
