An engaging story of overcoming pastdisappointments and breaking through to live a future of love, family, andfulfilled dreams . . .
Special Ranger Bodie Taylor is assignedto investigate the disappearance of a number of bison belonging to farmer SarahRickelle. The Ranger suspects that Sarah is guilty of insurance fraud, and heneeds to get close to the operation to investigate the situation fully.
Bodie poses as a ranch hand and is ableto secure a job offer from Sarah. He's smart and hard-working, but his lack ofexperience working on a farm is quickly discovered by Grandma Rose—Sarah'sgrandmother and owner of the farm.
As Sarah and Bodie work together, theirrelationship changes from boss-employee to a friendship based on mutual respectand dedication to figuring out the mystery of her missing bison.
The mystery in this story was intricateand well-written. There were many twists and turns as Bodie struggled to solvethe case along with Sarah's help. The tension between the couple escalates whendetails of the bison thefts come to light.
Another of my favorite aspects of thestory involved Sarah's soft heart for rescued animals. Readers will meet someof her delightful rescues—miniature donkeys Tansy and Pepper, piglets Gladysand George, canine Mav, and Rover and his twelve duckling siblings. As areader, I feel animals always add an element of tenderness to the cast ofcharacters, and Sarah is an exceptionally-caring animal lover.
My favorite character was the mischievous,witty Grandma Rose. This dynamic woman is a cowgirl from her hat to her boots,and she is well-respected and beloved by everyone in her hometown. This womanmade me laugh out loud throughout the story. She was funny even when she wasn'ttrying to funny! Rose and Sarah have a close relationship, and they rely on oneanother to keep things in the positive realm at their farm.
The story is completely clean inlanguage and content. I received a copy of the book from the author throughJustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here aresolely my own.

Non-stop action, loyal friends andfamily, a sweet baby, and a strong faith theme make this an excellent read inthe genre . . .
Miriam Troyer grew up in a close-knitAmish community, but soon left the faith to begin a life as an Englischer. Shemarried a man whom she thought she knew, but he turned out to be a stranger. Astime went on, he became secretive, distant, and non-communicative.
Miriam eventually learns that herhusband is caught up in some dangerous business deals and soon he is murderedby his so-called partners in crime. Unfortunately for Miriam, she was a witnessto the murder so now the killer is forced to get rid of her.
After another murder, Miriam knows shemust escape along with her baby girl to seek safety. After a high-speed chaseby the pursuers, the cat and mouse plot truly begins as the killer deftlyterrorizes Miriam and everyone around her in his efforts to silence herforever.
The tension grows when it is discoveredthat she has amnesia following the harrowing chase. The author's depiction ofhow confused Miriam was at this time touched my heart because Baby Ella Mae's powerfulconnection to her mother reached deep down into Miriam's heart and soul.
Caleb Schultz, a schoolmate of Miriam'sfrom years earlier, was a major part of the success of this novel in myopinion. Caleb's family pitched in to joyfully care for the baby. Lawenforcement officers who were part of the extended family assisted as much aspossible, and everyone worked together to find justice for Miriam and Ella Mae.
The strong and positive faith messagethroughout this story was a highlight of the book for me. The book is completelyclean in language and thought.

She flinched and turned to look over her shoulder but didn’t uncurl herlimbs. The night air had a chill.
“Need my sweater?” Kane reached for his zipper. Dark-blond hair, shorton the sides but with the top sticking out all over because he didn’t care tofix it. Stubble across his chin because he didn’t care about that either. Butthe man cleaned up good on a Friday night, that was for sure.
She shook her head. The point was to not need anything, becauseneeding things from people never ended well.
He settled beside her on the ground, close enough that she could feelhis warmth. “Impressive storm.”
She turned back to the sky stretched out in front of them. Above them.“This was a good place to stop for the night.”
Kane nudged her elbow. “That means you’re supposed to be getting somesleep, like everyone else.”
“I signed up to take watch. Keep an eye on the fire.”
“Right.” His low chuckle drifted over. “That’s why you’re hiding overhere, pretending you’re alone in the dark.”
“It’s not as impressive if you feel safe. Storms are supposed to bedangerous and out of control. You’re supposed to be a little afraid.”
“Don’t worry, I am.”
Maria didn’t think he was talking about the weather—or wildlandfirefighting. They’d been doing that for two seasons now. Laying low.Pretending they were regular folks who wanted a career change. Anything otherthan what they actually were.

A Christian romantic suspense novel thatfar surpassed my expectations for a 'good read' in this genre. The author hasfilled the story with energy, danger, faith, teamwork, friendship, and romance. . .

Vince’s mother, an older version of Jackie Kennedy withsilver hair, stood in front of her dressed in a white cardigan, soft pink silkshirt and tan slacks. Rebecca and Vince had dated for two years, but she’d onlyseen Vince’s mother one time, and that was at a distance. He’d never introducedthem. She looked so different from her Aunt Grace, who was a tiny Trinidadianwoman.
“Can I help you?” The woman opened the screen door andstepped out, a kind smile on her face.
Rebecca fidgeted with her hands. “Um, I wanted to drop offsome of Vince’s things.”
The woman’s eyes immediately watered. “Oh, how kind of you.”She reached out a hand. “I’m Vince’s mother—Bell Greystone.”
She couldn’t help but shake her hand. “Rebecca Young.”
“Won’t you come inside? If you were a friend of Vince’s, I’dlove to visit for a little bit. In fact, why don’t you stay for Sunday lunch?”
“Um—”
“Aunt Bell, who’s here?” a voice called from the house. Whatwas Walker doing here? His voice brought back bittersweetmemories of fun-filledSundays watching football games at her apartment in Houston.
“It’s a friend of Vince’s, Rebecca Young. She’s brought someof his things for me.”
“Rebecca?” Walker Greystone stood in the doorway, thenstepped onto the porch. Tall and proud, all six feet of him. His brown hair andchiseled jaw looked the same as the last time she’d seen him. Only then hissmile had been friendly, his face full of laughter. But not now. Now, his eyesseemed full of questions. He let the screen door slam shut and stood next to Bell.He wore his signature polo shirt, faded jeans and work-worn cowboy boots.
Bell appeared oblivious to the sudden tension between them.If the way Walker glared at her was any indication, he obviously knew Rebeccaand Vince had broken up before his death. And wasn’t that just great. Someoneelse knew about her humiliation.

“What are you doing here? I thought you and Vince broke up.”Walker said, hands on his hips, head tilted to the side in question.
Yep, he knew. This was the last thing she wanted. But shecouldn’t be rude to Vince’s mother. That was one thing she’d learned from herTrinidadian father, to respect her elders. A trickle of sweat ran down her backas the breeze shifted. Rebecca appreciated the breeze but immediately regrettedhow it exposed her baby bump.
“You’re pregnant?”
She looked at Walker then down at her belly. Her entirereality exposed.
This was why she shouldn’t have come. Walker knew they brokeup but not about the baby. Did Vince’s child matter so little? She straightenedher shirt and stood tall even though everything in her wanted to curl up in aball. “Yes, I’m pregnant.”
She walked past him and entered the house. She refused tofeel sorry for herself or get lost in the swamp of the emotions trying to drownher. Her focus needed to be on getting a job, securing a place to live andraising her child. Alone. She was done with men, especially any man with thelast name Greystone.

This author's heartfelt debut novel isfilled with faith, diversity, forgiveness, and love . . .
Rebecca Young is a librarian who is pregnantand in need of a job. Her ex-boyfriend, Vince, abandoned her when she informedhim of her pregnancy. He has since passed in a tragic accident.
Rebecca appears to be all alone in theworld; but as a kind, empathetic woman, she decides to take a box of Vince'sthings to his former hometown to give to his family. Eden, Texas, is a smalltown, and she sets out to drop the box off at his mother's home on the familyfarm.
This could be very awkward since Rebeccahas not met Vince's mother, Bell Greystone, even though she and Vince livedtogether for two years. When she appears at the farm she encounters WalkerGreystone, Vince's first cousin and someone Rebecca definitely remembers fromhis visits to see Vince at their apartment.
Walker is fighting demons of his ownfrom his past. As the oldest son and the one in charge of the family's HVACbusiness, Walker is juggling many responsibilities and duties. His brothers aresupportive and hard-working, but they question his ambitious goals for theircompany.
Through the community connections of theGreystone family, Rebecca finds a job in the public library where sheflourishes. As the plot moves forward, Rebecca and Walker develop a strongfriendship and more . . . By working together on several projects, they make apositive impact on their community—and on each other.
Diversity plays an important role inthis story, and it is a well-written element of the character development andevents in the story which I appreciated. The faith thread is strong andmeaningful.
This book is completely clean inlanguage and content. I will look forward to reading more of this author's workin the future.

Unique characters, fast-paced action, ahardworking K-9, and a dedicated hero blend together to make this one of myfavorite reads in this genre for 2025 . . .
Olivia Delaney works with herhalf-brother and half-sister at the family's successful investment firm foundedby their father many years ago. When their father died unexpectedly, her olderhalf-brother, Tristan, took over the company. Her half-sister, Amy, also worksfor the firm. Tension between the siblings has always been present, but nowit's almost intolerable.
Questions arise about Tristan's businessactions when Olivia finds her father's journal in a safe in his home. Thejournal documents controversial actions taken by Tristan at the firm, leavingOlivia with many questions.
Olivia, a computer software expert,decides to download the proof she needs to prove that things are not as theyshould be at the firm. From that moment on, Olivia is pursued relentlessly byviolent assailants.
In the course of the action she meetsbodyguard Caleb Miller who is on vacation with his K-9, Ranger. This threesomeworks together to navigate and solve this complex plot in an attempt to keepOlivia safe and solve the mystery at the firm.
I have read several of this author'sLove Inspired Suspense novels, and she is a master at inserting action anddanger into every possible scene throughout the plot. Ranger is a delightfuladdition to the story because of his loyalty, skills, and ability to comfortboth Caleb and Olivia.
This story has a strong faith threadwhich I really appreciated. The book is completely clean in content andlanguage.

Not safe? Crashed? Why wouldn’ther mouth work fast enough to spit out the questions? Fear lapped at herinsides as he fumbled for her seat belt.
“You’ve got to wake up. Now.”
She forced her eyes farther open,grabbed the wheel.
Cold wind raked her cheek. Wind?She lurched into full consciousness so fast her brain rocked in her skull. She touched her brown ski cap,then the flannel of her favorite long-haul driving jacket, the feel of the fabricsproving to herself she was alive. Somehow. A hiss of escaping steam commanded herto acknowledge what she desperately didn’t want to see.
Her beautiful Freightliner truckwas wedged cab first, jammed in a crevice between two crooked trees. In the side-viewmirror she observed an enormous trench of gouged earth that marked her journey fromthe road above to the place of impact. The shiny yellow cab with its cozy sleepingunit, her home for three-hundred-plus days a year, was squashed like the face ofa Pekinese.
The pristine white trailer she’dwashed that morning was no doubt damaged as well. She closed her eyes and picturedthe bold font she’d painstakingly chosen for the Garrido Trucking logo. Howabsurdly proud she’d felt the day the lettering was applied. Her truck. Her business.Her life. Finally.
Muscles in her throat tightened,and tears started down her face.
Crashed. She’d crashed. Everythingshe’d worked for, gone. The pain in her head intensified. She stared aroundwildly. “But what happened? How did I wreck?”
The man shrugged. “Dunno. I’mnot sure why you’d even be on Pine Hollow Road in the first place. Prettyridiculous, considering.”
Ridiculous? She bridled as thelocation sank in. Pine Hollow? Why there? Deep breaths. One, two, three, thenshe unbuckled and levered herself from the driver’s seat. Pain lanced her left wrist.Broken or sprained? Her shirt was splattered with blood, though she couldn’t feelany cuts.
“Easy,” the man said, arms outstretchedas if to catch her.
Why couldn’t she remember whathappened? She must have rolled out of her small office solo that morning, likeshe always did before picking up her load, the last load she dared haul out of aregion under an evacuation advisory.
She wouldn’t have chosen PineHollow, a twisty route that would take her nearer the volatile Mount Ember.Everything she’d learned, the geologic facts she’d devoured, left her itchingto escape. Had she lost control? Maybe she’d been knocked out by a fallingboulder. Had the noxious gasses venting from the volcano’s bulging sideoverwhelmed her? But why here?

Ilived most of my life in a small town on the south shore of Eastern LongIsland, along with four generations of my family. My grandfather owned a deliin town, where I started working stocking shelves and sweeping floors when Iwas twelve years old. When I was a little older, I started working thebreakfast shift, the inspiration for the All-Day Breakfast Café Mystery series.
I’vealways loved the small-town feel, the way everyone knows everyone, especiallythe families who lived there for generation after generation as mine had. WhenI married a man from the neighboring town, it seemed natural to settle downwhere we’d grown up and start our family.
Thenmy husband got a job offer in Florida, and he accepted. We moved down rightafter my daughter finished kindergarten. I had only ever been to Florida once,when my daughter was three and we spent three days in Disney World, so I had noclue what to expect.
Iwas used to deer crossing signs, since Long Island is home to a large deerpopulation, but the first time I drove my daughter to school and saw a bearcrossing sign, I actually turned around and went back to see it again. Ithought I was mistaken, but nope, it was a bear crossing sign. Until thatmoment, I had no clue there were bears in Florida.
Thenthere were the love bugs, and they were everywhere. And lizards, which I’dnever even seen in real life before I moved, and snakes, sometimes poisonousones.
Asidefrom the critters, the weather brought a few surprises as well. On the rareoccasions Long Island gets tornadoes, they are small F-1s that do very littledamage. One night, about six months after we moved to Florida, I had justgotten into bed and turned on the TV, and the weather report came on. A line ofdamaging storms were coming through. The reporter said if you live on my road,“take cover now,” and I freaked out, to put it mildly, woke my daughter and stuffedher and my dog into the tub, even tried to wrestle a mattress into the tinybathroom. (That was so not happening.)
WheneverI got homesick, I spent a lot of time checking off the positives and negativesof living in Florida and New York.
Becausethere were also amazing things about living in Florida. The natural springs,with their crystal-clear water, gorgeous blue skies—even in the winter when theskies in New York are permanently gray. And who could complain when everyone inNew York was shoveling out from under a foot of snow, and I was laying by thepool?
Inthe end, my decision was made for me when my husband and I both got jobopportunities in New York. We ended up moving back to New York and visitingFlorida every year, because we missed it so much.
WhileI loved moving back to our small town and raising two of our children there, weeventually did move back to Florida. This time, though, we found a small townoutside of the more touristy areas, with a beautiful downtown area that remindsme some of the town I came from. Now, when I reminisce about the past, Irealize things have changed in New York. My once small town grew until I nolonger knew everyone, most of my family no longer lives there, and the cost ofliving skyrocketed. Thankfully, I still get to revisit my hometown in my Coffee& Cream Café Mysteries, since the fictional town of Watchogue is based onmy childhood home.
