ABOUT THE BOOK  Laura's Shadow Title:   Laura's Shadow Series:   Doors to the Past Author:   Allison Pittman Publisher:   Barbour Fiction Release Date:   August 1, 2022 Genre:   Christian, Dual Timeline Fiction, Romance
Can Promises Made in Times of Struggle Endure 200 Years?

De Smet, South Dakota—1890

Young women growing up in De Smet live by two rules: don’t go out in a snowstorm and don’t give your heart to Cap Garland. Young Mariah Patterson only managed to obey one. Orphaned and having devoted her youth to scrapping out a life with her brother Charles, Mariah finds herself with no option but to marry the devoted—but dull—Merrill Gowan. Throwing caution to the wind, she seizes an opportunity to lay her feelings at Cap’s feet, even though she knows Cap sees the world through the torch he carries for Laura Ingalls. Mariah is certain her love for Cap will be strong enough to break both bonds, and she’s willing to risk everything to prove it.
De Smet, South Dakota—1974
Trixie Gowan is the fourth generation of living Gowan women residing in the sprawling farmhouse on the outskirts of De Smet. Well, former resident. She’s recently acquired her own bachelor girl apartment in Minneapolis, where she works writing ads for a neighborhood paper. She might live and work in the city, but her co-workers still call her Prairie Girl. Thus the inspiration for her comic strip—"Lost Laura"—in which a bespectacled girl in a calico dress tries to make her way in the city. The name is a quiet rebellion having grown up in a household where she’d been forbidden to mention the name, Laura. But when her great-grandmother Mariah’s declining health brings Trixie home for a visit, two things might just keep her there: the bedside manner of Dr. Campbell Carter and the family secret that seems to be spilling from GG’s lips one conversation at a time.
Visit historic American landmarks through the Doors to the Past series. History and today collide in stories full of mystery, intrigue, faith, and romance.

 ~ BLOG TOUR STOP ~ --  'FINDING HER VOICE'  -- AUTHOR DONNA GARTSHORE~Post Includes:  Book Spotlight + Excerpt,Author Bio & Giveaway~

Finding Her Voice JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Finding Her Voice by Donna Gartshore, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK  Finding Her Voice Title:  Finding Her Voice Author:   Donna Gartshore Publisher:   Harlequin Love Inspired Release Date:   August 23, 2022 Genre:   Contemporary Romance, Christian Overcoming their differences   Could be the answer to all their problems
Bridget Connelly dreams of buying her boss’s veterinary clinic and starting her own business—but so does auditor Sawyer Blume. Despite her trust issues toward men, it’s hard to stay rivals when Sawyer’s traumatized daughter bonds with Bridget’s adorable pup. And when another buyer tries to outbid them both, working together might give them everything they want…including each other. EXCERPT:

Sawyer was happy that Delilah agreed to go to Sunday school with Tyson, but when she left, memories assaulted him of Tina and himself, with a younger Delilah, sitting in a pew. He had believed in so much then: in the saving power of God, in the sanctity of a marriage he didn’t know would be forced to an end so soon.

Panic tightened his chest and he fought the urge to bolt out of the church. He sat at the end of the pew and Mildred sat beside him. He didn’t want to alarm her or draw attention to himself, so he made himself breathe slowly in and out and stared at the program until the swimming words came into focus.

When his chest stopped stuttering, Sawyer took a moment to scan the congregation, instinctively searching for Bridget. He was in the back, and most of the other attendees were already seated when they’d come in, and she wouldn’t have seen him arrive or known to look for him. He spotted her just as the worship music swelled to joyously greet the morning and the congregation rose in response. She was standing between an older man and woman, who he assumed were her parents. She wore a white-and-purple-flowered sundress with a mauve open-knit shawl and her pretty blond hair spilled down her back like a waterfall of sunbeams.

The sight of her had the paradoxical impact of comforting and unsettling him.

~ REVELL READS BLOG TOUR STOP ~ --  'DECEPTION'  -- AUTHOR PATRICIA BRADLEY~Post Includes:  Book Spotlight +Link to Excerpt, Author Bio & My Review~

ABOUT THE BOOK:

She refuses to let someone from her past define her future.

But does she really have a choice in the matter?

After being forced to kill an FBI agent gone rogue in self-defense, ISB ranger Madison Thorn is happy to be working in the fraud and cybercrimes division. At least numbers don't lie. So she's less than thrilled when she's drawn into a violent crime investigation in Natchez, Mississippi. She could also do without being forced to work with former-childhood-enemy-turned-infuriatingly-handsome park ranger Clayton Bradshaw.

When a woman who looks just like Madison is attacked on the same night Madison's grandfather is shot, it becomes clear that there is something much bigger going on . . . and that Madison herself is in danger. Madison and Clayton will have to work together--and suppress their growing feelings for one another--if they are to discover the truth before it's too late.

MY REVIEW: A stunning conclusion to a riveting series . . .  This is the fourth book in the author's 'Natchez Trace Park Rangers' series set on the Natchez Trace in Mississippi. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous three stories, but I was not prepared for the action and emotion this awesome conclusion presented. The action begins on page one of Chapter One in a tense situation involving Madison and her FBI agent partner, Chad Turner. The scene unfolds in a manner that is completely opposite to what Madison had expected. What transpires on that day informs her life and her job performance for the next four years. Fast forward four years--National Park Service Ranger Madison Thorn is a member of the elite Investigative Services Branch who returns to her grandfather's hometown in Mississippi to work on a case involving a suspected white-collar crime in a park service office. Clayton Bradshaw is the southern district supervisor on the Natchez Trace. The two were acquaintances from many years ago. Madison's presence in the area kicks off a number of dangerous situations for several people, including herself. This is a complex case with a lot of unknowns for readers to process. I was impressed with the author's ability to weave many situations and characters together to present a powerful story filled with three-dimensional characters, raw emotion, sinister motives, and long-held secrets. I do not want to reveal any more details about the story, because the element of surprise is essential to a reader's enjoyment of this book. Suffice it to say this plot is filled with a lot of red herrings, villains, secrets, and emotion. The faith thread is strong and runs throughout the story. One inspiring character struggled with his own personal demons in the past, and is now committed to living a life devoted to God and His teachings. The story is completely clean in language and content. I highly recommend this book to fans of Christian/clean fiction, Christian/clean romance, Christian/clean romantic suspense, and Christian/clean mysteries.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through their Revell Reads Blogger Program. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.

She followed God’s call for her heart and jumped with her family from the busy Dallas metroplex to the middle of the country, where she lives with her husband and four children. If you turn down the winding country road to KariAnne’s farmhouse, you might find her painting mismatched chairs, listening to the music of the crickets in the pasture, singing Scripture, or walking hand in hand with her knight-in-shining-armor husband as the sun sets over the river. She loves sweet tea with lime, thunderstorms, good books, milk glass, and yard sales, and she is an imperfect DIYer saved by grace. Thistlewood Farms is full of stories of family and faith, and features hundreds of home decor projects KariAnne creates every week for readers. The blog was awarded the 2012 Country Living Blue Ribbon Blogger Award for decorating, was named one of the top ten decorating blogs by Better Homes and Gardens, and was voted one of the best DIY blogs of 2015. MY REVIEW: This user-friendly non-fiction craft book is filled with simple, inexpensive craft ideas for tween girls to make for themselves and for others.

The projects are divided into eleven chapters. The first five chapters are entitled, 'Stuff You Can Make For Your ______,' and include things to create for your family, your friends, yourself, your room, and your locker. The remaining six chapters give ideas for things to make for a party and for five holidays—Valentine's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The book is narrated by the author's twin daughters, Westleigh and Whitney who are warm, friendly, and witty. This winning combination will really appeal to middle-grade girls.

Each project includes a skill level rating, a time estimate for how long it will take to make the project, supplies, instructions, and illustrations showing each step of the process. There are no photographs in this book except for the author and illustrator photos.

Several of the projects are based on a Christian theme such as scripture magnets, personalized scripture board, scripture rocks, scripture bookmarks, and nativity wreath. The authors thoughtfully share other ideas for how these projects could be made without using scriptures.

As always, my favorite projects in the book are the ones which include sewing and/or embroidery. In this case, the sewing projects include the hand-stitched notebook, felt monogrammed gift-card holder, braided bracelet, and fabric pumpkins.

Back Matter for the book includes 'Tutorials and Templates' for how to sew a few beginning stitches (my personal favorite, of course!), how to make pom-poms, how to make tassels, how to use Mod Podge, and templates for several of the projects in the book.

Highly-recommended for teachers, librarians, youth group/church group leaders, camp and scout leaders, families, and anyone is ready for a fun adventure into the world of DIY crafts!

I borrowed this book from the children's collection in the local public library.

It's springtime in Washington, D.C. and congressional staffer Kit Marshall has more on her plate than she can handle. With her boss campaigning for an open U.S. Senate seat, Kit is left to run the office in her absence and manage a new week long American history extravaganza filled with high-profile events, lectures, and receptions.

EXCERPT:

A moment later, the large, empty room was illuminated by the glass chandelier overhead. Trevor appeared right next to me. “Why are you sneaking around inside this building?”
A fair question, but I didn’t feel like explaining that in addition to the fact that I was a natural-born snoop, I also wanted to snap photos for Doug.
Instead, I kept it simple. “Just curious, I guess. The reception was wrapping up and you weren’t around. Neither was your boss.”
At that moment, Trevor’s face drained itself of color. For someone with a pale complexion in the middle of summer, it was alarming.
“What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” I said.
Trevor pushed past me and made a beeline for the piano inthe corner of the room. With Trevor showing up, I’d temporarily forgotten I’d spotted something underneath it.Now with the lights on, I looked down at my shoes. They were black flats, but some sort of colored substance covered the sides of them. I reached down and touched my finger lightly to my right shoe.
My heart skipped a beat. Unfortunately, from previous experience, I knew exactly what it was, and it wasn’t water. It was blood. About Colleen J. Shogan

Murderous Libations: A Visit to Off the Record   Setting is an integral part to the Washington Whodunit mystery series, which features congressional chief of staff Kit Marshall as the protagonist and amateur sleuth. In each one of my novels, Kit visits fascinating places and manages to pick up important clues that lead her to the killer.  Lethal Legacies is no exception. Kit and her friends travel to the Smithsonian African American History Museum, Georgetown University, Lafayette Square, and even the White House. Kit also likes good food and drinks, so I often feature fun restaurant and bars in the books. In this installment, Kit finds herself enjoying a much-needed libation and delicious sliders at Off the Record, a bar found in the basement of the Hay-Adams Hotel.  Off the Record is a throwback, reminiscent of another era. The high back chairs are a velvety red, and the cocktails are traditional rather than nouveau. Think classic martinis instead of margaritas. It’s considered the “place to be seen and not heard” in the nation’s capital. Forbes calls it one of the best hotel bars in the United States.   Political caricatures of historic, famous Washingtonians decorate the walls. However, the best prize are the coasters, which feature current politicians. It’s a valuable souvenir for natives and tourists alike. As the political winds change, so do the drink coasters – they’re a popular collectible.Drawn by Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonists, coasters are traded by frequent patrons of the bar to gain a full set of the current offerings.  My protagonist Kit Marshall usually roams the halls of Congress, so many of the restaurants and drinking establishments I feature in the books are close to Capitol Hill. In Lethal Legacies, Kit oversees a citywide celebration of American history, which takes her to different neighborhoods, including the area near the White House, where Off the Record is located. Even though Off the Record can be found in a well-visited part of town, its basement locale within the Hay Adams Hotelmeans it is truly a Washington, D.C. insider secret. Kit meets her husband Doug and her brother Sebastian there for an exhaustive debrief about the murders she’s trying to solve.   I love providing my readers with tidbits of history and other valuable information about our nation’s capital. If you find yourself near the White House and Lafayette Park, plan a stop for Off the Record and tell them that Kit Marshall sent you! **********************

“The fourth volume in author Colleen J. Shogan’s simply outstanding ‘Washington Whodunit’ series, K Street Killing is a consistently entertaining read with many an unexpected twist and turn by a true master of the genre.” —Midwest Book Review

Guess How Much God Loves You JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Guess How Much God Loves You by Karen Ferguson, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

 📕📗📘📙📕📗📘📙📕📗📘📙

ABOUT THE BOOK  Guess How Much God Loves You Title:   Guess How Much God Loves You Series:   Guess How Much God Loves You #1 Author:   Karen Ferguson Publisher:   Ambassador International Release Date:   July 19, 2022 Genre:   Children's Picture Book, Christian

Guess How Much God Loves You is the story of seven-year-old Lucy Lu, a colorful, creatively curious first grader who is starting to have serious questions about God. Questions like: How old is He? Does He sleep? What does He do all day? And the biggest one of all – does God really love me?

After one particularly hard day at school, bullied by her classmates and feeling like she doesn’t matter, Lucy sits with her Papa Joe who has promised to answer these questions and more, launching them onto a journey to discover God’s never changing, never failing, never ending love. What follows is a wild adventure through the Bible, where Lucy and her Papa literally find themselves in the middle of it all, on each page of the exciting story of God’s love and faithfulness for ALL people throughout ALL of history!

EXCERPT:

Lucy had always been told by her Papa Joe, "God loves you!"  But now that she was seven years old, she had questions about that. Especially since some of her classmates said mean things to her like . . . "You look funny." "You talk funny." And the worst one of all, "No one likes you!"

Oh yes. Lucy had lots of questions for her Papa, like . . . "Who is God?" "How old is He?"  "Does He ever sleep?"  And the biggest one of all . . . "Does God really love me?" Sometimes Lucy felt like no one even liked her! Except for Papa Joe.
