Title:
A Quilt for Christmas: A Christmas Novella
Author: Melody Carlson Publisher: Revell Release Date: September 6, 2022 Genre: Christian Romance Recently widowed Vera Swanson is having a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit in her new town. When asked to make a quilt for an ailing neighbor, she pulls together a diverse circle of quilters, including freespirited Tasha Ellison. The group becomes stitched together through shared stories, trust, and a little romantic weaving.
Christmas should be celebrated with family. But for Vera Swanson, that's not an option this year. Widowed and recently relocated, she is lonely in her condo-for-one--until little Fiona Albright knocks on her door needing help. With her mother seriously ill and her father out of town, Fiona enlists Vera's help, and when she finds out her new neighbor is a quilter, she has a special request--a Christmas quilt for Mama.
Vera will have to get a ragtag group of women together in order to fulfill the request. Between free-spirited artist Tasha, chatty empty nester Beverly, retired therapist Eleanor, and herself, Vera has hopes that Christmas for the Albright family will be merry, after all--and she may find herself a new family of friends along the way.
Bestselling and award-winning author Melody Carlson invites you to cuddle up this holiday season with this cozy story of giving, forgiving, and a little bit of romance. ⛋⬔⬕⬓⬒⧈⛋⬔⬕⬓⬒⧈⛋⬔⬕⬓⬒⧈⛋⬔⬕⬓⬒⧈ EXCERPT:

Vera didn’t know what to say, but hoping to distract Fionafrom thoughts of death and sickness, she slowly nodded. “Imight be able to quilt your mother something.” She imagineda small project . . . something that would distract from feelingsorry for herself during the holidays. “Maybe a pillow.Or even a small lap quilt.” She held her hands a couple offeet apart. “You know, like this.”

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Bentonsport - A Christmas Story by Lisa Schnedler, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
Title:
Bentonsport - A Christmas Story
Series: Bentonsport #1 Author: Lisa Schnedler Publisher: Scrivenings Press Release Date: September 27, 2022 Genre: Clean Romance/Christmas/Time Travel What if you found the love of your life right in your hometown—in another century? Bentonsport—two different eras in one special town, two lonely persons, and one miraculous Christmas...
For Bentonsport Academy Headmaster Thomas Barton, Christmas emphasizes his loneliness. He has given up hope of discovering a woman to share his heart and life and plans to return to his hometown for the holidays. But when his friend’s preposterous prophecy comes true, he finds himself having traveled not by train, but through time, from 1869, to Bentonsport today! Now he must navigate a modern world for the two weeks before Christmas and discover what he was sent to find.Baker Sarah Peterson has everything she wants in the small historic town of modern-day Bentonsport—everything but a man with whom to share her dreams and future. And, in a town of under fifty residents, where’s she going to encounter a soulmate? But when Thomas walks into her bakery, seemingly odd and out of place, but handsome and charming, she finds herself hoping something special might happen this Christmas.
🎄❆🎁❄💝❅🎄❆🎁❄💝❅🎄 EXCERPT:
The man had an eager expression, no trace of fear or concern. His eyes held an extra twinkle as a growing smile crinkled his face. “I have great news.”
Great news? At three in the morning? Thomas tried to think of a response.
“Do you believe some things cannot be explained?”
I feel that way right now. He nodded.
“Do you believe in miracles?”
How was he supposed to answer? Particularly to a minister. At three in the morning. The pastor better get to the point. Thomas slumped into the chair.
The ticking of the clock seemed to grow louder.
Pastor Lockhardt rubbed his hands together, scooting his chair closer. “Sometimes, we can’t understand things with our minds. We can only believe with our hearts.”
Again, Thomas nodded, the words little more than a buzz. Why such an abstract conversation in the middle of the night?

Book three of the riveting, high-octane world of the Elite Guardians reboot!
She'll have to pretend to be his wife to save his life...but what will it cost her heart?
Laila Rabbinowitz is all business. Tough and stoic, she was the perfect Mossad agent…until a terrible betrayal led to her worst nightmare. Being a bodyguard with the Elite Guardians allows her to keep her heart safe—she’ll never let anyone close enough to betray her again. And she’s certainly not going to trust anyone who doesn’t earn it.
Billionaire and former playboy Preston Whittaker walked away from his famous family after a terrible event, but then his father and brother are killed in a suspicious boating accident. Since he’s next in line to helm the family business, now someone wants him dead. Preston needs someone by his side 24/7, and the only solution is a fake marriage.
In order to keep him safe, Laila will have to convince everyone that she and Preston are in love. She’s used to putting her life on the line for a client. But what will this case cost her heart?
EXCERPT FROM DEFENDING HONOR:
Laila Rabbinowitz tossed the binoculars onto the passenger seat and stifled a shudder. Jesse Cora, the man she was charged with protecting, had turned out to be a lying creep who didn’t give a second thought about stepping out on his marriage.
Ten showers couldn’t wash off the disgust smothering her like a blanket. But as a professional bodyguard, she didn’t get paid to judge people’s actions.
She just had to keep the man breathing. Once his wife got ahold of him…well, that wasn’t Laila’s problem.
Anabelle Cora was the one footing the bill for the protection detail. The wealthy woman’s fourth husband had received suspicious text messages from an alleged stalker. When his wife had pressed him to be careful, Jesse had dismissed the danger. Worried sick, Anabelle had hired a bodyguard from the Elite Guardians Agency and simply not told him.
Covert operations weren’t Laila’s favorite. She’d done enough stakeouts in her former role as a Mossad agent. Memories sprang up but were instantly dismissed. She’d long since left that life behind after moving to Columbia, South Carolina, to take a job with the Elite Guardians.
“Do not let him catch you following him,” Anabelle had warned her after their first meeting.
“Of course not,” Laila had promised. Which was why she found herself in this unpleasant situation—hiding out in her car, stalking the man she was supposed to protect from a stalker.
Jesse had told his wife he’d be working late but had instead headed to a hotel to rendezvous with a woman who appeared to be a much younger blonde wearing a little black dress and three-inch spiked heels.
Laila sighed. Why wasn’t Anabelle suspicious of a husband that worked late on a Sunday evening? The woman would rather believe her husband was being stalked than admit the truth.
Babysitting the rich and elite ranked right up there with getting a root canal, but Laila had found a parking spot in front of the swanky hotel with an excellent view of the penthouse suite and waited. The hotel looked like it would cost more than her monthly rent for a one-night stay. At least they hadn’t opted for some pay-by-the-hour seedy place.
Movement from the room made her reach for the binoculars. People should close their blinds. Thankfully, Jesse and his mistress didn’t bother. Not that she wanted a front row seat to this show, but another peek through the binoculars confirmed her initial impression. Jesse was a money-grubbing cheat. He crossed through the room and wrapped his arms around the woman who clearly wasn’t his wife.
Laila didn’t want to watch any more, but she traded the binoculars for a high-powered zoom lens and snapped a few incriminating shots. If Jesse denied his actions, well…
The philandering trophy husband was half the age of Anabelle.
Again, not your problem, Laila. Do your job and keep your opinions out of it.
Her stiff shoulders begged for a good workout. What she wouldn’t give to be in the boxing ring at the gym, releasing some of her pent-up energy by sparring with anyone who dared take her on.

Sami A. Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn't until her 30s that she found authors who captured her attention. Now, most evenings you can find her engrossed in a romantic suspense novel. In her opinion, a crime plus a little romance is the recipe for a great story. Sami lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

Kelly Underwood's favorite things are reading, writing, and drinking coffee. She was born in New Hampshire, but don't ask her about snow, because she's been a Florida girl since she was twelve. She writes book reviews for her blog bestinsuspense.com and is an active member of the Central Florida chapter of the American Christian Fiction Writers. She's a sucker for a good suspense novel, the kind you have to read cover-to-cover until the mystery is solved and the bad guys are in handcuffs. If you're looking for her, she's probably on her back patio with a Kindle in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. Visit her at kellyunderwoodauthor.com

ABOUT THE BOOK
Title:
Getting Past the Publishing Gatekeepers
Authors: Hope Bolinger, Linda Fulkerson, Rowena Kuo, and Carrie Schmidt Publisher: Scrivenings Press LLC Release Date: October 11, 2022 Genre: Nonfiction / Writing Remember when Dorothy finally reached the Emerald City only to be halted by the Gatekeeper, blocking her hopes of seeing the Great and Powerful Wizard?
The path to publication is like that. Agents, and Editors, and Publishers, oh, my!Each one is a barrier between you and a publishing contract.
But what if you understood what agents, editors, publishers, and readers really want?
If you’re struggling to get past the publishing gatekeepers, this book will give you a behind-the-scenes peek at how to win the heart of each type of publishing professional. In fact, Getting Past the Publishing Gatekeepers won’t just give you a peek—it will give you a guided tour. In this book, four publishing professionals—an agent, a publisher, an editor, and an influencer—share what it takes to unlock each “gate” within the publishing industry. Getting Past the Publishing Gatekeepers is a must-have resource for all aspiring authors, and it offers insights to help multi-published authors as well. 🏰📜🖋️📖🏰📜🖋️📖🏰📜🖋️📖🏰 EXCERPT:
From the section on readers, written by Carrie Schmidt
Before you can get your book in front of new readers, you obviously must find them and then plant yourself where they spend time.
Most readers are, by nature, introverted. This is certainly not true for all, but many of us recharge by being alone and, well, reading. We tend to prefer low-contact socializing, but we love to talk about books. We are on most social platforms, and we gravitate toward others who read the same books that we love. While more difficult to find us in person, it’s not impossible. We do still love spending hours in libraries, bookstores, and even book festivals. Readers have established active discussion groups on Facebook, creative networks on Instagram and TikTok, and popular hashtags on Twitter. We’ve also infiltrated the less obvious places you’d look for readers, including a community of over 2 million members who ask others to ‘suggest me a book’ on Reddit. Readers are everywhere, waiting to be found by you and your books.
In equal turn, however, this ‘everywhere-ness’ can be overwhelming for authors who already have limited bandwidth. Juggling family life, an additional career or two, writing books, and marketing books doesn’t leave much margin, does it? From Facebook to Instagram to TikTok to local festivals and everything in between, how can you best focus your time and energy in looking for readers?
Prioritize
The truth is this: You must filter out some of the options and pick the focus that works best for you. If you don’t, you run the considerable risk of burning out on the social/promotion tasks and losing your passion to write those yummy words readers crave. When you do give yourself the freedom to zero in on one or two options, you will invest the largest portion of your budgeted engagement time in platforms that best fit you and your books.
Trying to spend time promoting your work in all the places becomes more like a game of Whac-A-Mole instead of a good return on your time and energy. I understand the fear of missing out on readers through other platforms, but sometimes we are most effective when we become more selective. One of my favorite movie lines of all time (from the 1995 version of Sabrina, with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond) says the same thing a different way: “More isn’t always better, Linus. Sometimes it’s just more.” This is not only true of material things or money; it’s also true of book promotion.

And letting them in may be the greatest risk of all… 📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖
EXCERPT:
The strangest thing about The Histories of Women: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Female Life and Mind was that it wasn’t a book at all. When Hope had opened it last night, handwritten words greeted her inside. A woman named Grace Holloway seemed to have had the book created to use as her journal. Hope became taken with the woman’s writing and the woman herself. The journal was a fascinating glimpse into her 1895 life.
On the inside cover, Grace had inscribed in slanting, elegant script:
This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.” Psalm 102:18.
The birds welcomed Saturday morning with their songs despite the cold, as though willing the weather to match the date on the calendar. Tomorrow would be May. Mags had given Hope the day off since she’d be home with Ulysses. Plus, Hope had worked the full week through.
In celebration of finding her grandma’s book and her first week of work, she told them she’d make a special dinner that night. She’d already gone to the grocery store and couldn’t wait to test some literary-themed dishes on them—some potential menu items for the mobile café she dreamed of. But the meal prep could wait.
The chill of the ice-cold boulder beneath her leached into her skin, her bones. A shiver disturbed the gigantic diary balanced on her lap. From her spot on the lakeshore, Dusty Jackets was behind her and up the hill, and the whole of Arrowhead Bay was spread out to either side.
She’d found the bay mesmerizing yet disconcerting at times, with the hollowed rock “face” of Lost Lover’s Island sneering back at her. And with the water always doing as it pleased. Sometimes fierce, pummeling the rocks so hard it sounded like a thunderstorm. Sometimes gentle with barely a whisper against the pebbled shore. It took orders from no one. Today, the waves lapped quietly at her feet, white foam gathering at the edges like the world’s largest bathtub.
Tendrils from the braid she’d twisted into a bun tickled her cheeks as she read in Grace’s journal. 📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖

~ REVELL READS A QUILT FOR CHRISTMAS ~
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Cuddle up with this cozy story of giving and forgiving--with a little bit of romance
Christmas should be celebrated with family, but for Vera Swanson, that's not an option this year. Widowed and recently relocated, she is lonely in her condo-for-one--until little Fiona Albright knocks on her door needing help.
With her mother seriously ill and her father out of town, Fiona enlists Vera's aid, and when she finds out her new neighbor is a quilter, she has a special request--a Christmas quilt for Mama.
Vera will have to get a ragtag group of women together to fulfill the request. Between free-spirited artist Tasha, chatty empty nester Beverly, retired therapist Eleanor, and herself, Vera has hopes that Christmas for the Albright family will be merry, after all. And she may even find herself a new family of friends along the way.

MY REVIEW:
A kind neighbor and an assortment of diverse individuals work together to achieve the Christmas wish of a little girl whose young family is in need of a miracle . . .
I enjoy reading Christmas stories year round, and I am a quilter. When this book came up for review through the Revell Reads Blogger Program, I knew I wanted to read it.
Vera Swanson is a lonely widow who lives across the hall from a young family with three children. As the result of the mother's medical emergency, Vera is pulled into the drama by the youngest child of the Albright family, Fiona.
With her loving and kind heart, Vera takes control of the children and their well-being while their mother recuperates in the hospital. When she eventually meets the husband and father of the children, she immediately recognizes what difficult circumstances they have had to deal with in the past few months.
When Fiona finds out that Vera is a quilter, she asks her to make a patchwork quilt for their mother for Christmas. The story begins five days after Thanksgiving, so that doesn't leave much time for Vera to make a full-sized quilt for Christmas.
The little girl persists, and the quest to make the perfect quilt for Mrs. Albright becomes an obsession for Vera. Through some ingenious ideas supplied by the children, three women volunteer to help Vera make the quilt. The only catch is that none of them actually knows how to make a quilt!
Through trial and error and a lot of contentious discussions, the small group finally settles down and gets to work on the quilt. As the group moves forward, they learn a lot about themselves and each other. Anyone who has ever been in a quilt or another type of project group will tell you that people are not always what they seem to be on the outside. It's the peeling back of the layers of scar tissue and traumatic experiences as you work together toward a common goal that lets others discover the beauty of a person's inner soul.
The story is completely clean in language and content. There is not an overt faith thread in this book.
With its stunning cover and a meaningful story line, 'A Quilt for Christmas' is a beautiful story of friendship, acceptance, tolerance, collaboration, and perseverance.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through their Revell Reads Blogger Program. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own. ##########

~ FRIDAY FICTION FEATURE COVERT DANGER ~
🐕🔎🐾🔦🐕🔎🐾🔦🐕🔎🐾🔦🐕
Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Covert Danger by Jerusha Agen, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
🐕🔎🐾🔦🐕🔎🐾🔦🐕🔎🐾🔦🐕 ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: Covert Danger Series: Guardians Unleashed #2 Author: Jerusha Agen Publisher: SDG Words, LLC Release Date: September 22, 2022 Genre: Christian, Romantic Suspense A K-9 protection team. An assassin. Only one can survive.
An assassin is on the loose in the Twin Cities, aiming to kill FBI witnesses the Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency is hired to protect. Rogue CIA agent Amalia Pérez and her protection K-9 must get the edge on this deadly opponent before he kills her childhood best friend—the only man who knows her true identity. Investigative journalist Michael Barrett can’t believe his eyes when the woman he’s spent years searching for walks back into his life. But he soon fears the woman he loved is lost forever beneath the secrets Amalia wears like armor. As the assassin closes in, Amalia will risk anything to keep Michael safe—anything except believing in the God he trusts. When the layers of deception become as dangerous as bullets, can Amalia and Michael uncover the truth in time to stop the assassin from completing his lethal mission?EXCERPT:
Michael swung back to face Amalia “I don’t know why you lied to them and why you’re lying now, but you know better than anyone I won’t lie. For you or anyone else.”
An odd sensation pinged her chest. As if he’d shot an arrow that bounced off the rock of her heart. She mentally brushed away the laughable image and returned to her objective—persuading an uncooperative protected witness not to blow her cover.
“There’s a lot at stake in your cooperation, though I can’t tell you what it is.” The words, You’ll have to trust me, died before they came out. She wouldn’t go that far. Not with Michael. She didn’t even trust herself, and she was the last person he would trust.
“I understand you don’t want to lie.” She held the breath she wanted to exhale. It’d be a tell that suggested compromise, giving up ground. “You don’t need to lie about knowing me or keep our history a secret if you’re asked directly. All I’m asking is that you call me by my right name and don’t reveal my former identity to anyone. I am Amalia Pérez now, so you won’t be lying. The person you knew no longer exists.”
He walked farther away from her and stopped at the end of the king-sized bed, looking out the glass patio doors ten feet in front of him. “Okay.”
Amalia relaxed her grip on Raksa’s leash. Another successful negotiation.
“But on one condition.” He turned toward her, sunlight from the window behind him backlighting his strong frame. “That you tell me what happened to Sofia.”

~ FRIDAY FICTION FEATURE HEALING HAZEL ~
Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Healing Hazel by Jennifer Moore, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: Healing Hazel
Series: The Blue Orchid Society #3
Author: Jennifer Moore
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Release Date: September 8, 2022
Genre: Clean & Wholesome Romance /
Historical / Victorian
Hazel Thornton has one great ambition: to help the sick and
wounded as a nurse.
But that dream can never become a reality.
After a devastating childhood trauma, she has spent her life battling fits of panic that make it impossible to finish her studies. Everything changes, however, when a trip to Spain takes a perilous turn that derails her plans to visit her father for Christmas and immediately plunges her into the dangers of a brutal war. With single-minded focus, she springs into action to help her fellow travelers. To ensure their continued care, she begins work at a Spanish hospital alongside Dr. Jim Jackson, a man whose only emotion seems to be wariness of his new assistant. Armed with gifts of support from each of her dearest friends, a group that dubs themselves the Blue Orchid Society, Hazel embarks on a journey of hope and healing to battle the demons of her past with the help of the doctor who has captured her heart.
EXCERPT:
Miss Thornton genuinely cared. She was compassionate and felt deeply for her patients. Jim had been like that once. He’d felt the desire to heal, to relieve pain, to alleviate suffering. But that was before. After his brother’s death, medicine had become Jim’s religion. He was consumed with a sense of urgency. He’d joined the Red Cross, following wars and disasters, foolishly believing each patient he cured would ease the pain in his heart, the guilt for the one he couldn’t save.PURCHASE LINKS: Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | BookBub
