"A tender story. I know my readers will enjoy these stories and look forward to the books yet to come."--TRACIE PETERSON, bestselling author of the Pictures of the Heart series
EXCERPT:
It was past the supper hour by the time Ethan made his way back to Antelope Creek, where he boarded with a family from that congregation. Twilight fell in summer softness over the prairie, the western sky still streaked with orange and rose. He slid off his horse, Nehemiah, weary to the bone. He stabled and brushed the gelding before heading into the Humphreys’ simple frame house on the outskirts of town. While the husband had died of a fever a few years ago, the grown son, Barton, kept the family livery business running, and Widow Humphrey took in boarders to supplement the household income. Though at present, Ethan was the only one.
He let himself in through the side door of the lean-to, trying to do it quietly.
“That you at last, Reverend?”
He winced. So much for quietly. But Widow Humphrey had ears like a bat and was particular about mealtimes, though she reluctantly allowed that a pastor could not always maintain regular hours.
“We kept supper warm for you. Never dreamed the Salton folks would keep you out this long.” The angular woman looked askance at him, vigorously rubbing a clean pot with a dish towel.
Sometimes balancing his two churches made Ethan feel like a parent caught between jealous children. He took the plate left on the stove with what he hoped was a winning smile. “The speaker took longer than I expected. Thank you for saving this for me, Mrs. Humphrey.”
She hmphed and flipped the dish towel over her shoulder to put the pot away. “Antelope Creek isn’t much farther from Lincoln than Salton, yet I suppose it’s too much to ask any dignitaries to come here. Never mind that we have a larger population, not to mention a livery stable.”
The town was nearly five miles farther from the new capital, but Ethan wouldn’t feed the fire. He sat at the empty table and bowed his head for a silent grace.
Opening his eyes, he dug into the ham, black- eyed peas, buttered potatoes, and corn bread. Whenever he thought about getting his own place or boarding with someone who boasted a gentler tongue, the food at the Humphreys’ lulled him into inaction. Whatever else she lacked, Widow Humphrey was an excellent cook. “This is delicious, thank you. The corn bread, especially.”
“Martha made it. You might offer your thanks to her.” The dish towel snapped again as Mrs. Humphrey hung it precisely on a rack.
Ethan winced. He’d nothing against Martha, but he’d long sensed Mrs. Humphrey’s aim to throw her shy, inching- toward- spinsterhood eldest daughter straight at Ethan’s collared, supposedly marriageable frame. Belatedly, he realized Mrs. Humphrey was waiting for a response. “Certainly. I’ll thank her tomorrow.” If he saw her.
“She’s in the parlor.”
Of course she was. He made himself smile. “I’ll be sure to stop by.”

Four Parties and a Funeral (A Catering Hall Mystery)by Maria DiRico 🎉🍳🍲🥣🔦🔎🎉🍳🍲🥣🔦🔎🎉About 'Four Parties and a Funeral'

In this fresh and witty cozy mystery series set amid an extended Italian-American family in Astoria, Queens, catering hall owner and amateur sleuth Mia Carina must solve a murder on the set of a reality show.
The June events schedule at Belle View is busting out all over—proms, graduations, and of course, weddings. There are unexpected bookings too, including a casting call for the pilot of Dons of Ditmars Boulevard. But soon, Mia’s fears about the cheesy reality show are confirmed . . .
Belle View quickly becomes the site of a sea of wanna-be goombahs and phony girlfriends, and some of Mia’s friends insist on getting in on the action. The production company owner and his executive producer ex-wife—who’s also very minor British royalty—have assembled a motley crew that does as much infighting and backstabbing as the on-screen “talent.” Even so, it’s a shock when a dead body is found in the pool house of a local mansion rented by the show . . .
Murder might boost the ratings. But Mia intends to make sure the killer gets jail time, not airtime . . .
Italian recipes included!

Pasta Puttanesca
If you read Long Island Iced Tina, you’ll know that pasta puttanesca figures prominently in that storyline. You’d think I should have included this recipe in that book—and you’d be right! What happened? Simple. I forgot. But I’m making it up for it here, lol. I hope you enjoy the recipe.
Ingredients:
1 lb. pasta of your choice3 Tbsp. virgin olive oil1 tsp. dried oregano2 tsp. minced garlic2 tsp. anchovy paste1⁄2 tsp. red pepper flakes1 28-oz. can diced tomatoes in juice2 Tbsp. drained capers1⁄2 cup chopped, pitted Kalamata olivesPinch of salt (optional)3⁄4 cup chopped fresh basilGrated parmesan cheese, to tasteDirections:
Prepare the pasta according to the instructions on the box. Drain, toss with one tablespoon of the olive oil, and set aside.
In a medium to heavy 12" skillet, cook the garlic, anchovy paste, and red pepper flakes in the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil, stirring occasionally until fragrant—about two minutes.
Add diced tomatoes and juice, the capers, and the chopped olives to the mixture in the skillet.
Lower the heat and simmer for around 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and add a pinch of salt, if necessary.
You can go one of two ways from here. You can add the pasta to the sauce and stir to combine, then divide into 4 bowls and serve. Or you can divide the plain pasta into 4 pasta bowls and spoon the sauce evenly on each bowl of pasta.
Top with evenly divided fresh basil and grated cheese to taste.
Serves 4.

~ FRIDAY FICTION FEATURE ON THE GOLDEN CLIFFS ~
🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄
Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for On the Golden Cliffs by Christen Krumm with Tricia Goyer, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄 ABOUT THE BOOK:
Series: Big Sky Amish #2
Authors: Christen Krumm with Tricia Goyer
Publisher: Sunrise Publishing
Release Date: March 21, 2023
Genre: Christian Contemporary Amish Romance
One wrong post has sent influencer Lyla Taylor’s social media empire crashing to her feet. To save it, she’ll have to escape to rural Montana. Six weeks in a high-end spa won’t hurt…except, she’s not booked into a spa, but at a rustic Amish B&B. Suddenly, her roommates are raccoons, and her daily activities include hanging laundry. Thanks, but no thanks. Lyla is ready to hit delete and head back to civilization.
Amishman Reuben Milner has a secret…one that could destroy his world. For now, however, he’s kept his life as a novelist under wraps, focusing on providing for his family after the tragic passing of his father. Renting the dawdi house seems the right move—until the wrong woman moves in. However, she comes with ideas to help improve their B&B, and that, along with her feisty personality, is something Reuben can’t ignore. Even if the elders want him to focus on joining the church and finding a wife.
When going home isn’t an option, Lyla decides to help the Milners spruce up their rental. It does help distract her from her problems online. The more Lyla works on the rental with Reuben, the more she wonders if returning to her former life is worth it. However, is it the simple life that Lyla’s heart longs for—or a particular guarded Amishman with secrets of his own? And when those secrets are discovered, what will it cost them both?
Book two in the delightful and sweet Big Sky Amish Collection.
🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄💕📖🌄 EXCERPT:
After grabbing the bucket of pitch, Reuben climbed down the ladder with one hand, careful not to slip. Once his right foot hit solid ground, he checked off the roof on his list, then scurried to determine what chore should be next.
“Hi, yeah, I’m supposed to connect with a Mara or Reuben Milner?”
He jumped at the soft voice from behind him. Reuben turned, practically dumping the half bucket of black tar on a woman that barely even came up to his chin. He pushed his straw hat back on his head. She stood near the bottom of the ladder, wearing black shorts, a colorful T-shirt, and a black jacket. She wasn’t Amish.
Then he noted her extremely high heeled shoes. Definitely not Amish.
How was she even able to stand upright in them? She looked ridiculous. What could she possibly need with him or Mem?
Reuben lifted an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”
One hand rested on her hip. The other hand blocked the sun as she stared up at him. Her auburn hair framed a pair of flashing green eyes. He could already tell this one had more spunk than Penny, even on Penny’s best day. All that attitude had rendered him speechless.
He threaded his free hand through his suspenders. “Your shoes are so tall,” he sputtered.
She looked down at her shoes and back to him, frowning. “What do my shoes have to do with anything? Are you or aren’t you Reuben Milner?”
He shrugged, wishing he had just kept his mouth shut.
“You must be Lyla,” his older sister called from behind him.
Saved by Susanna. Married now and six months pregnant, she waddled barefoot out onto the porch and eyed the two of them standing in the yard. Without a word, Lyla moved around him and stomped up the porch steps, stopping next to her two large suitcases. Reuben winced, hoping that she didn’t go through the steps or roll an ankle. It was a toss-up which one would actually happen.
“Are you Mara Milner?” Lyla asked, holding her hand out toward his sister.
Susanna smiled and took Lyla’s hand in her own. “I’m Susanna, Mara’s daughter. Wyatt said you might be out here. Are you hungry? You must be tired from your journey. Would you like to come in and sit down for a while?”
Lyla pulled her hand back and eyed the ramshackle front porch—or at least, from the slight wrinkle of her nose that’s how he assumed she saw it. “I’d rather just head to the Airbnb, maybe get unpacked.”
Reuben thought the response was a little rude, and his sister’s smile faltered. Her brows scrunched in confusion. “Airbnb?”

REVIEW:⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ A riveting story filled with action, faith, and romance . . .
This author has a gift for creating memorable characters and unforgettable plots filled with suspense, mystery, and tension. 'Under Fire' is no exception.
The lead female, Tessa Reed, is a recovering alcoholic who has faced a lot of trauma and tragedy in her life. She has been given the assignment as the leader of a team of Secret Service Agents as they plan to protect the President of the United States at a private event.
The lead male, Zane Thacker, has been Tessa's support system and best friend throughout her recovery. He and several other agents have worked together in the past and share a close bond as friends outside of their careers. He is forced to deal with demons from his own past that could jeopardize his relationship with Tessa. Tessa harbors a lot of secrets from her past which threaten to undermine her career. I felt she faced these challenges with grace and honesty. The author faces difficult subjects such as addiction head on. As a reader I appreciate the respect Ms. Blackburn shows to her diverse cast of characters. The romance angle of the plot is very realistic with doubt, misunderstandings, and angst contributed by both parties.
There is a visible faith thread woven into the lives of many of the main characters. This group of people truly cares for their co-workers which they exhibit by praying together in times of crisis and speaking with each other about their own faith journey. This book is completely clean in language and content.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through their Revell Reads Blogger Program. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own. 🔦✪🔎 🇺🇸🔦✪🔎 🇺🇸🔦✪🔎 🇺🇸🔦March 19, 2023

Hairstylist Marla Vail and her husband get tangled up in murder when their Fourth of July visit to a living history village ends with a bang—and a body.
Salon owner Marla Vail and her detective husband Dalton are having a blast visiting a Florida living history village over Fourth of July weekend. But when a Seminole battle reenactment turns up a real dead body, it sets off fireworks among the villagers. One of the cast members has gone off script to murder the town marshal with a tomahawk in his head.
As Dalton gets involved in the investigation, Marla determines to help him solve the case. Her flare for uncovering secrets reveals that everyone in the village is a suspect. Instead of celebrating the holiday with red, white, and barbecues, she discovers secrets, lies, and false avenues. Did the marshal’s murder have anything to do with a lost Confederate payroll, or did his plans to renovate the park light a fuse that he couldn’t snuff out?
In a place where history comes alive, the dead bodies are piling up. Marla would rather be chilling and grilling, but somebody’s mind is on killing. If she’s not careful, her sleuthing might blow up in her face like a faulty firecracker and she'll become the next victim. Recipes Included!

Tales of Lost Treasureby Nancy J. Cohen
Who doesn’t love a good treasure hunt? Add in family secrets and a ghost story to bring more fun to a mystery. In my latest cozy release titled Star Tangled Murder, hairstylist Marla Vail and her detective husband Dalton are attending a battle reenactment at a living history village over Fourth of July weekend. When they discover a real dead body on the grounds, Dalton gets on the case.Someone has murdered the town marshal, and the villagers are all suspect. It quickly becomes apparent that almost everyone had a grudge against the victim.
Marla isn’t one to stand idly by on the sidelines while her husband pursues a case. She joins in, utilizing her unique skills in getting suspects to talk. As she interviews Lizzy Canfield, the tour guide at historic Baffle House, she hears a fascinating legend. Lizzy’s family history is part of the mystique. She’s a descendant of Adam Canfield, who bought the property in 1859. He built themansion for his wife, Elizabeth, in 1860. All went well until the Civil War when Adam was shot by Union soldiers. He’d housed a Confederate troop who were marching north to deliver a payroll. When they heard that enemy soldiers were headed their way, they hid the gold and escaped into the Everglades.Adam and his wife, Elizabeth, stood on the front porch and faced the Union troops. When Adam wouldn’t tell them where Captain Lowry had gone, they shot him.The coins were never recovered as Captain Lowry and his men failed to return. Lizzy said people have tried to find the lost payroll, but the ghost of the White Lady chases them away. She believes Elizabeth is still there, searching for the gold so she can stave off the Union soldiers and save her husband. The secret of the missing treasure continues to baffle people to this day. Where did I get the idea for this story? My tale is based on a news article that related a true incident. Confederate soldiers led by Captain John Riley were transporting a million-dollar payroll to Fort Mead. They were followed by Union troops. Riley stated they buried $200,000 in gold coins and the rest in paper currency. They hid in the Everglades, but when they came back to retrieve the money, they couldn’t find it. I added the ghost, and then I had to invent a reason for it. Hence the tragic history of Baffle House. Who wouldn’t sympathize with the ghost of a woman pining for her dead husband? Maybe the victim found out where the stash was hidden, and he was killed for it. Or maybe the motive for murder had nothing to do with the gold coins. Lizzy isn’t being entirely truthful, either. She’s hiding something, and Marla needs to find out what it is. Regardless of what she learns, themissing treasureadds another element to the mystery. Are you a fan of lost treasure stories? What’s your favorite movie in this genre?🇺🇸🧨🎇🎆🇺🇸🧨🎇🎆🇺🇸🧨🎇🎆

From Harlequin Heartwarming: Wholesome stories of love, compassion and belonging. EXCERPT:
“So, what does anyone do for fun around here?”
“Define fun.”
Ty tilted his head. “If I have to explain, you probably don’t know how to do it.”
“I have fun,”Juliette insisted.
Wait. She did, didn’t she?Sure, she’d been working steadily since returning to Golden after college, but she did stuff.
“What’s your idea of fun?” he challenged.
“Working out.”
“That’s a necessity. Try again.”
“I hang out with my sister. Sometimes go horseback riding.” Although as she thought about it, even that had been a while ago.
“Okay. Do you travel?”
“No.”
“Take a vacation?”
“No.”
“I heard there’s a nice lake in Golden. Do you go boating? Swimming?”
“No.”
He sent her a pitying glance. “You need to shake things up in your life.”
“And I suppose you think you can show me how?”
His grin widened and his eyes sparkled, as if he was thinking, Challenge accepted.
Good grief.
Here was the problem. In a matter of two days, Ty had disturbed her constant, solid life. And to her utter dismay, she found him entertaining. Unexpected. A she needed.
What did she do now? REVIEW:This is the second book I've read from the author's 'The Golden Matchmakers Club,' so many of the supporting characters were familiar to me. The story is set in the small Georgia mountain town of Golden.
Juliette Bishop is an occupational therapist who works at a rehabilitation facility in Golden. She is an enthusiastic advocate for the special needs children and adults in town, and she will do whatever she needs to do to make sure their voices are heard by the decision-makers in town. She is a take-charge woman whose self-worth is tarnished by something in her past.
Ty Pendergrass is a former rodeo cowboy with a rebellious attitude who can be charming when he wants to be. He's recently moved back to Golden to help his family with their newly-purchased, problem-ridden farm. His family is counting on Ty to remain committed to and involved in the restoration of the farm property so they can take care of his brother who needs full-time care.
The Golden Matchmakers Club is a group of senior residents from the town who work together to facilitate matches of local young people. They have a good success rate; and when they have a request to focus their efforts on the two lead characters, they are willing to do what it takes to make the match successful. Their antics are amusing and goodhearted for the most part.
The character who had the biggest impact on this story for me personally was Juliette's younger sister, Ivy. This twenty-five-year old woman is living with Asperger's Syndrome and she is a positive force in the Bishop family. It was satisfying to watch Ivy blossom as she develops and matures into a confident woman who learns to navigate life successfully by developing a strong subset of coping skills.
There are many challenges along the path to romance for Ty and Juliette in this story as readers are led through a maze of mishaps and misunderstandings. The book is completely clean in language and content.

'Dreams of the Heart' by Penny Zeller
Sometimes the hardest battles take place in the heart.
Series: Wyoming Sunrise #2
Publisher: Maplebrook Publishing
Release Date: March 7, 2023
Genre: Christian Historical Romance
Poverty and abuse at the hands of her drunkard father leaves Hannah Bane trapped and alone. Without hope, she prays for a miracle just on the off-chance God will hear her. Will the handsome new deputy, who seems to be watching her every move, be Hannah’s one chance to escape the only life she’s ever known?
For as long as he can remember, John Mark Eliason has wanted to be a deputy sheriff. When a job opens in the nearby town of Poplar Springs, he eagerly accepts, but finds his greatest mission won’t be tracking down criminals and bringing justice to the ruthless Wyoming town, but saving a beautiful young woman he barely knows.
Will an unexpected answer to a difficult situation show how love can endure—and even thrive—in an unconventional situation? Or will fear and uncertainty keep two hesitant hearts apart?
In the sequel to Forgotten Memories, author Penny Zeller weaves a tender tale of faith, romance, and humor in a memorable story that reminds us God hears every prayer and has a plan for every life.
