Thoughts on Loving Myself inspired by "Love Yourself Like Your Life Depended On It!" by Kamal Ravikant
I’ve had some hard days recently. I think we all at times over-commit or add new things to our lives without removing the old. When this happens it can lead to depression, anxiety, or in my case a little of both.
Now - I confess that even in good times I have a penchant for self-help books which I really enjoy, but from which I rarely find new insight. When I bought the short and sweet, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depended on It, by Kamal Ravikant (I bought it...

A New Way of Loving Myself!

Bachelorette Des: And the winner is….
I didn’t think there was a way to come back from last week. Brooks had to come back because how – HOW? – could she profess her love for Drew or Chris after that fiasco where she told Brooks she loved him and cried for days? But from the beginning my heart said Chris. How […]

Ian Somerhalder: More Than a Pretty Face
Photo by Gage SkidmoreAs someone who writes mostly paranormal romance (although there are no vampires in my stories), I absolutely love The Vampire Diaries, and, to be totally honest, one big reason is Ian Somerhalder. I would definitely still love the show sans Ian because of the writing, characters and storylines, but this is a post about Ian - who at 34 is one of the few young adult TV crushes I don’t have to feel “cougar” about!
I remember watching Ian in the short-lived series Young...

Brothers, Sisters, and Vampire Diaries
It’s always interesting when you binge view a series. Certain things jump out at out you that might not have had you watched it week by week. I didn’t want to watch Vampire Diaries, but since I had some free time this summer I thought I’d check out the pilot and decide. Hooked...all four seasons in 1 week.
Unlike with Twisted, I knew Vampire Diaries had books, but I didn’t want to read - just watch. And in watching I came up with a question maybe some of you all can help me with. ...

ABC Family's Twisted - I wish I could read it!
One of the things that’s crazy important in good YA is the connection a reader feels to a character. For many female readers that often means that a magnetic teen male, central to the story, is a defining factor in whether they get hooked. That also seems to happen with good YA TV, some of which is based on books (Pretty Little Liars) and some of which we only wish was based on books. I have to say my newest obsession is ABC Family’s Twisted, and when I learned I couldn’t go read the se...

Summer Reading - Divergent, Insurgent, Matched and Crossed
Once summer begins, I get a little more free time to spend doing what I love. Reading. I finally got the chance to start two series I have been dying to dig into.
The first book I had been putting off until I had the time was Veronica Roth's Divergent.
What a book to start the summer with. I didn't read it in one sitting because I was babysitting, but I did stay up until 3am to complete it and immediately bought Insurgent. Loved the world, the characters, the plot. AND the wr...
