My covers were designed by the extremely talented and ever awesome Lena Goldfinch. She's an indie author, herself! You can check out her website HERE. My understanding is that she's not currently taking on new design clients, as she's keeping very busy with her own writing. But as a biased friend and colleague, I definitely recommend checking out her books. ;) (They also have beautiful covers!)

“It is not enough for poems to be beautiful; they must be affecting, and must lead the heart of the hearer as they will.”
Horace, Epistolas Ad Pisones De Ars Poetica

“The aim of the poet is to inform or delight, or to combine together, in what he says, both pleasure and applicability to life. In instructing, be brief in what you say in order that your readers may grasp it quickly and retain it faithfully. Superfluous words simply spill out when the mind is already full. Fiction invented in order to please should remain close to reality.”

If I remember, I'll reply here with links to the direct posts next week once they're up, so you can comment on them and thus sign up. :) There actually won't be any e-book giveaways this time, but I'm trying to keep the interviews/giveaways a bit of a surprise, so you'll see what they all are next week! ;)

If you saw any giveaway posts on my blog, those are previous ones that have already concluded, so these next ones will be up December 3-6. I'll try to remind you to sign up then! :) Generally, all you'll have to do is leave a comment with your e-mail address.

Nope, you don't have to live in my state! :) With a blog party that includes various giveaways, each separate giveaway generally has different rules, depending on the person/publisher who is giving away the item. In this case, as far as I've heard, all of the giveaways will be for U.S. residents only. So if you live in the U.S., you should be set! I also sometimes host giveaways that are open to those in Canada, and e-book giveaways and such that can be open internationally.

The event notice I put up here on Goodreads is just to give people an advanced notice/reminder about the "Celebrating Crafts and Christmas" week. The actual giveaways will take place on my blog between December 3rd and December 6th, with the winners announced on December 7th. :) Here's the link to my blog:

http://www.seasonsofhumility.blogspot...

If you're having any trouble finding the right posts or leaving a comment on any of those days, or if you're confused about the rules I'll be listing on those posts, feel free to leave a comment here on my Goodreads profile and I'll make sure you get entered into the giveaways you'd like to enter (as long as you have a U.S. mailing address - due to shipping costs and all that.) :)

Thank you for asking, and let me know if any of that didn't make sense!

Hannah Hey Tiny,
I am going to try my hardest to get there on the first day of camp, but my surgery got scheduled for that day. No one was coming with me so two of my friends are insisting on driving me and taking care of me after lol :) I will really have to see how my eyes are feeling, I really don't know what to expect honestly. Never had eye surgery before! It's a first, surprise, surprise! LOL! But I'll try....maybe there can be a special seat saved for me or something while you guys are at boot camp? Lol....:P I just wanted to let you know. If it's any easier than playing tag on here and you wanna respond to me, feel free to shoot me an email lol.
Then on Wednesday is my appointment with reg doc. This is for ear infection, mad I have to wait that long, and headache. I might possibly have a brain tumor. We're a little concerned. Once again, wish I didn't have to wait so long but whatever.
Egads, sorry, I should probably erase all of this because it's totally unimportant, but after taking the effort to type it out I can't bear to just erase it lol. Sorry for bothering you, I don't know why I just said it all. Sorry. Hope to talk to yuo soon or see you at camp.

Hey Sis! ;)

What if you were to just write that in the review? That personally it just didn't hold your attention or you skipped ahead because of impatience and write a review from that? These publishing companies want your honest opinion right? You're not the first and/or only person to feel that way about a book. And it is just a book after all - nothing that should cause any stress but instead should be a joy :) I don't think anyone would blame you and I'm sure you have some great ones you're looking forward to in that TBR of yours ;) We just have to stop reading ahead, LOL! Honestly, from now on I refuse to do it because its only gonna turn what is supposed to be a fun experience into a drag. Whatever you decide to do will be fine, my friend, so no worries :) Oh, and I've done much sillier things, believe me ;)

Oh my goodness! You and I were separated at birth or something. ;) I have that problem, as well--I get impatient and skip ahead. In the most recent case, I skipped through the rest of the book and read the crucial scene at the end, and this is a suspense book! So now it's really, really hard to motivate myself to read anymore. I sometimes wonder why I do this to myself. One: why do I skip ahead? Like you said, "Good things come to those who wait." Two: Why do I choose to review books that aren't necessarily in my favorite genre? I don't even have a particular fondness for suspense! Oy vey! The silly things I do...

And as to the last part of your comment, I'm kind of curious about that, too! There's one book I've had for months, but the only consequence there is that I can't review another one until I review this one. :( But the suspense one I'm reading now is with a different publishing company. I've heard of people reviewing for authors who simply ask to post a blurb about the book and don't even write a review (I think), but what do I do when given a free book? If I choose not to finish it, do I pay them back? Can I just write a blurb and give the book away? I know I should finish it, but it's really hard when I already have so much in my TBR stack (not to mention so much to read for school!!!).

Anyway, sorry to go on and on. I was just thankful once again that we are kindred spirits and that you're always so understanding. :)

Amanda Amber wrote: "I wanted to send this question out into the cosmic void, and if any of you have a response, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

What do you do if you're not motivated to finish a book you're supposed to..."

Don't you just hate that? A book you're not motivated to read might as well be math homework as far as I'm concerned! ;) Well, my friend, since I'm not in a position where I "have to review" a book I know my plight is a bit easier than yours, but I have felt very unmotivated before, especially when I read ahead. The last 6 or 7 books I've read I have looked ahead in the story and I have to say that when I did I lost some (and sometimes all!) of my motivation to finish it. All my excitement turns to impatience so I read ahead but what is it they say? "Good things come to those who wait"? I should probably start applying that, huh? ;) Sorry, this probably doesn't help or answer your question at all but I do understand not having the motivation to finish. But since you're supposed to review this book I how you can find the motivation you need. Out of curiosity what would happen if you didn't finish it? Would you get in trouble or would it just be frowned upon by whoever you're reviewing for and hinder your chances to review future books? I always wondered :)

message 6: by Amber

Amber Stokes I wanted to send this question out into the cosmic void, and if any of you have a response, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)
