I was born and brought up in Birmingham. As a teenager, I won a holiday to France, Spain and Portugal for writing essays and poetry in a newspaper competition. Despite this promising start in the literary world, I took scientific qualifications and spent more than thirty years as a manufacturing consultant, technical writer and small business owner, publishing a number of pharmaceutical text books and editing a technical journal along the way. I returned to creative writing in 2006 and since then, I have written short stories and poetry for competitions — and have had a few wins, several honourable mentions and some short-listing. I am also published in several anthologies.

Under the Chudleigh Phoenix Publications imprint, I have published t

When I was doing my OU Diploma I needed to write some poetry and was completely flummoxed until I read 'The Ode Less Travelled' by Stephen Fry. As a reader, there are too many to mention, but book 2 of 'The Dark Tower' series by Stephen King stands out in my memory. I read book 1 and had no idea what was going on. Book with book 2 I 'got it' and was hooked from there on. (less)

Movie Moments: 2010s

This week we have the final instalment of my latest meander across the decades. In Movie Moments, we’re looking at what was topping the charts at the box office, some of the biggest names around, and which films mean the most to me when I look back in time. And there’s even a spot of music each time to bring back memories. We began in the 1950s; and moved on to the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s a...

Thanks Terry. It's all very new to me, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Are you a librarian by any chance? I need to get an error corrected in the entry for 'Trifles' (name spelled incorrectly) but I don't seem able to do it myself - as the name is wrong, it's not recognising me as me!
