I am fascinated with words, and it amazes me that you can put them together in these little sentences, and that gives you the power to create entire worlds.

I live in North Carolina, though I'm forever tied to Colorado and Arkansas. I am a bookworm from way back, an avid lover of chocolate and steak (though

We play "what if" a lot, and that really helps me get the ideas onto the paper.(less)
Bethany K. Lovell I love creating something out of nothing. That I can just make up a world and fill it with characters is fascinating to me.

Sneak Peek of Book 4
In book 1, Kia is abducted by Karak. Here is that same scene, appearing at the beginning of book 4, from Kia's perspective.

Kia sat on the couch, her legs drawn up and her arms wrapped tightly around her knees. All around her, people went on about life as if the world wasn’t caving in around them. Unfortunately, Kia was unable to pretend that all was well.

Beautifully Disturbing

This book was very hard to read, yet impossible to put down. Wavy was such a complicated little survivor, and Kellen... on paper the guy should be a total creeper, and yet, the depth of his devotion to Wavy made me weepy so ofte

More of Bethany's books…
“He tried to picture her in battle, covered in gore and swinging a blade - would she be silent and barbarous or would she flit through the fray, making sarcastic comments as she casually dealt deathblows?”
Bethany K. Lovell, Faetal Distraction

“Her sister Lea had an ancient book of myths and legends, and there was all kinds of info in there - of course Lea had written that book herself, so how much could it be counted on for accuracy? For instance, under the heading of "Gods and Demigods,” you could find entries for The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. She'd also added a new "tribe" consisting of her favorite cartoon characters, naming them The Animatus.”
Bethany K. Lovell, Faetal Distraction

“She chuckled and then said seriously, "Don't sweat it. I can only guess at what this must feel like, but you gotta just steel your resolve, you know? Batten down your hatches, sandbag your perimeters, plywood your windows and what not.

Where are you going with this?

I don't know anymore. Somehow, my pep talk became storm prep...”
Bethany K. Lovell, Faetal Distraction

“Take one, and you cannot take the other," she said. "But neither path is safe. Which way would you walk — the way of hard truths or the way of fine lies?”
Neil Gaiman, American Gods

“Spite was the fuel to right all your wrongs. And like any fuel, it could consume you.”
Karina Halle, Sins & Needles

“When the dawn was still long hours away, bad thoughts took on flesh and began to walk. In the middle of the night thoughts became zombies.”
Stephen King, Under the Dome

“She has the heart of a child, you know. Yeah, it's in a box beside her bed.
- Kaia Skyhawk”
Gena Showalter, The Darkest Surrender

“Gods, I love it when you talk mathy to me.”
Kresley Cole, Dark Desires After Dusk
