I have a B.A. in history and a J.D. I’ve practiced law and been a bank trust officer and compliance officer. I’ve even worked as a loan officer and credit analyst.

Throughout my career in law and banking, I often felt the absence of creative outlets. I dabbled in woodworking, and tried writing short stories. I started and, over the course of a decade, finished a fantasy novel. It wasn’t very good and I knew it (The First Step now resides in drawer, safe from the light of day). My bosses frequently complemented my writing skill and I took pride in communicating clearly and accurately.
