Cowboy boots have always been Brittney's shoe of choice. An animal lover to the core, her parents didn't know what they were signing up for when they put her in a summer horse camp at the age of ten. She was hooked. The horse bug bit her. Hard.

Horses quickly became her true passion. At twelve Brittney started working at a local stable, cleaning stalls and leading trail rides. At thirteen her parents finally broke down and bought her a horse – a spunky bay grade mare named Austie. Brittney grew up on Austie’s back and, when it came time to go to co

I've wanted to write a novel since I was in high school, but didn't take the time to start my first story until I quit a job I was unhappy in. Until my break from corporate life, I felt like I didn't have the time to write a book. Now I know you just need to make time -- a half hour here ... a couple hours there. It all adds up! Plus, if you take the time daily to write (whether it is ten minutes or a few hours), you story stays in your subconscious. You think about it all the time. That's when the really good ideas come -- when you are taking a shower, walking the dog, washing dishes, etc, etc. Ideas will "pop" into your head!

P.S. - I'm back working full time in the corporate world ... and (surprise!) I still have time to write! Writing has now become a release for me.(less)

I go for a walk, go for a ride, brush my horses, or do anything that gets my mind off my writing. When I'm not "forcing" myself to come up with ideas, ideas tend to come to me. (less)

“Lucky for me, all four of his hooves missed my body as they found the ground. I picked my head up, thankful I didn't get stomped, and watched the steer run off along the fence. Mental note: cows are not like horses. Don't let the big brown eyes fool you.”
Brittney Joy, Lucy's Chance

“With my heart thumping, I froze up. I didn't dance. I was born with two left feet and they only worked together in the saddle. "Come on," Casey urged and grabbed my hand. "I wore my steel-toe boots. You can stand on my feet for all I care.”
Brittney Joy, Showdown

“The clouds behind the castle darkened and rolled, embracing the mountain and the white towers. And as the princess became more animated, the clouds rolled faster and faster. They twisted and deepened in color until a deafening crack sliced through the air.”

Martina Boone, Compulsion

“She'd missed the way he walked, the way he shoved his hands into his pockets when he was nervous, the way his dark hair fell into his mismatched eyes. The way a smile would flicker across his face before he committed to it, the way he looked at her like she was the only person in the world.”

Lol! Actually, there are a lot of horse books that involve a horse dying! Believe me, I've cried over many a horse-book!

If you want a no-dying-horse-book, the "Pony Club Rivals" are great! I've read the first two. Or, you could even give my book a try, Red Rock Ranch. I promise no horses die! ;)

Lucinda Dear Brittney,
Thank you so much for acepting my friendship request here on Goodreads! We seem to have so much in common, and i really look forward to future book discussions with you. Feel free to discuss horses, all things equestrian and books anytime. (I love Heartland, Ty & Amy are two of my favorite characters as well as The Da Vinci Code to name but a few books).
