Grumpy Cat
It has to be said that Grumpy Cat is my favorite meme of all time. The crankiness speaks to me and amuses the hell out of me. They’re not all laugh out loud funny, but they are pretty entertaining.
Here is an appropriate Superhero pic to kick them off.

Green Lantern Pancakes
Best pancake in the world
Okay, so this is just a pancake singular, but I just don’t like the sound of it without the ‘s’ I trust that if you’re reading this you’ll forgive me.
I’m sure a case can be made that a person shouldn’t eat a pancake with green food coloring in it. If you happen to want to make that case please please, and I can’t stress this enough, go make that case somewhere else. This pancake is silly and awesome at the same time. I’m a big fan of that combination of traits.
I liked the pancake so much that it made me wonder about other incidences of superhero themed food, and sadly I found little that I enjoyed. As you can see below Spiderman and Superman are especially popular, but the only entrant that I’m impressed by is the fruit bowl. It helps that bananas, mangos and strawberries are my favorite fruits, but still. Why aren’t there more incidences of great superhero food? There should be, certainly there’s a large enough fan base to support it.
If you’ve made something like this, or know of a photo, please let me know, I’d definitely get a kick out of it.

Ex-Heroes
This popped up in my facebook newsfeed and it had an interesting effect. It made me think about superheroes and think about just how much I’d like to re-read Ex-Heroes. It also reminded me how much I’m looking forward to the upcoming ‘Man of Steel’ movie, but that’s a separate set of thoughts.
Ex-Heroes is a post-apocalyptic zombie superhero novel.
I like superhero novels, I like post-apocalyptic novels, and I haven’t read a lot of zombie novels, but hey, I’m willing to give the genre a chance. Enter Ex-Heroes.
Like so many readers my favorite character was St. George, but what’s not to like, powerful, interesting and with a moral compass. He’s the archetypal Superman character, which is precisely why the above pic reminded me of him.
One thing that Clines does nicely is he gives you entire chapters of backstory in an interesting way. It would be reminiscent of the show Arrow, or of the novel ‘Crimes Against Magic’ except Clines precedes both of them.
The other thing that’s nice, is that Clines pits the heroes against an enemy that they can go to town on. This isn’t a little thing. Heroes aren’t supposed to kill Villains; it’s just not heroic. In Ex-Heroes, the Villains are zombies. They’re already dead, and there are no moral hang-ups with killing zombies. This means that the heroes can just cut loose on them, which is fun. If you’re reading about superheroes it’s fun reading about them using their powers in a justified and yet highly aggressive fashion.

Dinosaurs in Photos
This is awesome and must continue. Variety is the spice of life, and I’m loving this. I’d like to see more of it, but with some tweaks. Will anyone up the ante and give me a family day at the beach where they’re all fleeing a plesiosaur?
Please, let that happen.
A beware of raptors sign with raptors guarding someone’s house would be mint as well.
A quick and lazy google image search for more photos like these yielded nothing. This means there is room for innovation, please internet, don’t fail me.
Oh and on a related and important note. Don’t give them feathers. Yes, yes I know, scientists now believe that dinosaurs had feathers. So yes, if you want to make the most realistic photo of people fleeing from dinosaurs they should have feathers. I don’t care. It’s a fake photo of an awesome concept. Don’t ruin it with realism applied in silly places.
If you’re struggling with this photo, you want to check the top left over the guy’s shoulder.

Superhero Noir
This fusion of Noir and Superhero art by Marko Manev speaks to me. If you’re reading this, chances are you share my enthusiasm for superheroes. In that case I don’t think I need to explain why these pictures are cool.
Despite that, I like the way each image is distinct and yet identifiably part of a set. I like the way each image captures the ‘soul’ of the hero that it represents. I like the way the style imbues the inherently fun subject matter with a serious tone.
Why do I like superheroes? They’re fun and they’re cool. Chances are low that I’d turn to a picture of a superhero to adorn the walls of my home, but for this series, I’d make an exception. Give me some elegant black frames and I’ll have something to stare at while I procrastinate. If you’re really going to please me give me six more so that I can hand them in a four by four grid.
If anyone is taking requests I’d be interested in seeing:
1. Cyclops
2. Venom
3. The Human Torch
4. Green Lantern
5. The Flash
6. Nightcrawler
If someone really wanted to impress me they’d find me a series of Croyd Crenson posters. That would be amazing, but I don’t think the world is quite ready for that level of awesome.
