Over the last twelve days I have been sharing memories of Christmas past but today I am going to look to the future. We feel that our house is priced to sell within the next twelve months and that by this time next year we will be back in the UK and settled into our new home. Hopefully closer to our families and UK based friends by several hours. It is both exciting and bitter sweet as we have loved living in our home for most of the last 15 years and also enjoyed the warm friendship of our neighbours in the area where we live.
We are also looking forward to taking some long awaited trips to Canada to visit family and friends and take the train across the Rockies. We also hope to meet up with our friends from our Houston days over 30 years ago. I also…

Danny and the Alligator
The further exciting adventures of Danny the Dog…this time with an Alligator!!! Thank you Chris Graham!

We slog through the antediluvian swamp, a diaphanous mist rises from the quagmire and a miasmal stench fills our nostrils. The authorities are pursuing us, though we have done nothing wrong. Well, Andrew (my human) has done nothing wrong. I, on the other hand, bit a man, a big fat, obnoxious slob of a man. He had it coming to him. He said I was the ugliest dog he had even seen. Me, Danny the Dog!
After I bit him, he pulled out his cell phone and called the cops, but Andrew and I didn’t stick around and wait for them to show up, we hightailed it out of there pronto. Now we are hunted fugitives, with the law closing in. Andrew always told me I’d go to Doggie Jail if I didn’t mend my sorry-tail ways.
They are close now; we can hear their voices, so we pick up…

“Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.” George Orwell
Thank you so much for this great post, Paul White, and Chris Graham, for pointing me towards these great quotes on writing…

There are many great quotations and notations floating out there in the fast lane of the internet highway, below are just a few of those which connect with me. You will note they have all been written by great writers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I.

Dream Condensation
“Dreams always use the most efficient means of communicating the most information possible which is what condensation is….” thank you Dr. Steven Fox – this has been my experience especially in those years that I kept a dream journal.

Man Is A Biopsychospiritual Being
There are many levels to dreams which include physical, psychological, and spiritual. At the physical level, it is vitality. At the psychological level, it is emotion. At the spiritual level, it is the energy of the universe. In most dreams, all levels are true and when this happens we call it dream condensation. Dreams always use the most efficient means of communicating the most information possible which is what condensation is.

Lightning Integration
This dream reminds me of a fantastic and shocking dream that came to me one night during my years living in the foothills of the Himalayas. Later I related it to a renunciate whom I believed to be enlightened…she told me she had dreamed this dream too…and that apparently all those who chose the highway to liberation (moksha) are given this archetypal dream in some form or the other. Amazing, is it not? Proves the fact of Advaita = Not Two. Thank you Dr. Steven Fox! Perhaps your dreamer here is destined for enlightenment!

She Sees the Light(ning)
A woman in her twenties dreamed that she was in a broken run down apartment. She was with loved ones who were insanely content with the condition of the building. The dreamer wondered why they were so happy. They replied that they were satisfied and intended to stay.
Suddenly, the walls began crumbling, the ceilings fell in and the doors were in flames. She then had a vision of Zeus and saw a storm approaching. She somehow felt that she chose lightning which struck a tree in her yard which burst into flames. The tree fell toward the dreamer and crashed through her window.
The dreamer was unscathed, but ran out of the house because she was full of fear that she and loved ones would be hurt. As she ran outside, there was a party going on with neighbors and loved ones. It was a…

The Right and Left Stairways
If you’re dreaming about stairways, or intrigued by them in anyway, read this post…always amazing to me how deep we humans can go into our subconscious to find the wisdom we require in our mundane lives…thank you Dr. Steven Fox!

Dreams 289: A man in his early forties dreamed that he was talking to some girls when he was in high school in New York. It was very casual and relaxed conversation in a restaurant located at the top of a mansion. When he left, he found himself at the top of stairs on a landing where there was a stairway to his right and there was a stairway to his left.
He went down the left stairway and knew somehow that he had to use a phone. He then went down the right stairway and found a woman that looked like his wife. She was pretty and looked like his wife. He thought she looked depressed as she was leaning forward on her arms with her forearms resting on the table. He then saw the girls he was talking to earlier pass by in the distance.

Before you head under the Mistletoe – A wee bit of Peppermint might improve your chances!
Before you head under the Mistletoe – a wee bit of Peppermint might improve your chances…that’s what Sally Cronin advises those of us who plan to whoop it up over the coming holidays…oh, by the way, I have holy basil growing wild all over my garden….what’s that good for, Sally?
Originally posted on Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life:
It is the season for Christmas parties and family gatherings and at this time of year there is the additional pleasure of getting kissed under the mistletoe – of course it all depends on who is doing the kissing, but having fresh breath before embarking on this lovely activity is essential. And also having something to ward of the unwanted attentions of any germs that might be lurking in the vicinity! We will also be eating richer food than normal and that can cause digestive upsets and is one of the reasons we become so prone to infections during the holiday season.
You may have noticed that almost all non-prescription preparations that claim to help indigestion are mint flavoured. And this is not just because mint has a nice taste. Mint is one of the oldest known treatments for indigestion and its inclusion in medicines is due to the plant’s…

Appearance of the Sacred Heroic Masculine
The Sacred Heroic Masculine…erupting in wild and wonderful dreams….I like this because so many men (I know) yearn to be heroes fighting evil in the ancient way and yet find themselves caught fast in the iron chains of mundane life…dreaming like this would mean the time has come to follow your bliss…thank you, Steven Fox!

Dream 288
A man in his forties dreamed repeatedly that he was visited by a white robed faceless spirit. This spirited man gave the dreamer all elements of a knights armor. He was given a knights helmet, breastplate, body armor, sword, etc.
This was a recurring dream where he found himself fighting evil night after night in his protective knights armor. He felt powerful and strong. He felt the dream was spiritually significant.
Interpretation
At the first level of dream interpretation, each character in the dream represents a part of the dreamer’s mind or psyche. Men are usually associated more with action parts of the mind. Women usually represent more emotional parts of the psyche.
Repetitive or recurrent dreams are almost always big dreams as Carl Jung believed that some dreams meant more than others. This was especially likely to be the case with recurrent dreams…

Can a GENIUS thrive in today’s self-publishing world?
Intriguing post: Can a GENIUS thrive in today’s self-publishing world? Please note the various definitions of genius too! Thank you Chris McMullen and Chris Graham…

GENIUS WRITERS
By genius, I don’t mean as measured by an IQ or any other kind of test.
I mean qualitatively, someone with an exceptional natural ability.
(Look up the word in a thorough dictionary and you might be surprised at some of the definitions of this word. I received a little vocabulary lesson.)
There are many different ways that one could be a genius writer.
There is one kind of genius who masters a particular writing style, and there are many different kinds of writing.
Then there is a genius storyteller.
There are geniuses when it comes to characterization.
Or the genius could be about content knowledge and the genius writer could be someone who is sharing that knowledge.
Or it may be a teacher who is a genius in terms of communication skills and instruction.
How about a genius in the visual arts who is creating an illustrated…
