Soul Stealer (Mystery & Thrillers)
1 chapters   —   updated Apr 03, 2013 06:33AM
Description: A complex psychological thriller packed with suspense and a plot that twists and turns like an octopus. On 7th July 2005, a man disappears, believed dead, in the London bombings. Some years later, a freelance journalist recognizes his photograph in a newspaper - the man she has just seen in a café. From that second, Alice’s life will be changed forever in ways she could never have foreseen. Immediately she is pitched into a race against time that takes her from London, across Britain and into the heart of a mystery – the reason for his disappearance on that fateful day. Spurred on by her unwavering belief in his innocence regarding an unsolved murder on the eve of the bombings, she begins to question the official version of events and to challenge the mindset and motivation of those also seeking him. Then other developments begin to overshadow her search for the truth which becomes a frantic battle for her own survival. For Inspector Jim Rodgers, this had been his final, most agonising case: a murder with no murderer, an inquiry ending in dead-lock and unfinished business, the aftermath still haunting him down the years. The tragedy begins on 7th July 2005. But it does not stop there. Fate catches up with everyone … in the end.
Retribution (Mystery & Thrillers)
1 chapters   —   updated Apr 03, 2013 05:55AM
Description: Three murders. Multiple suspects. No proof. Sixteen years ago, Alice's closest friend suddenly breaks off their friendship in the New Forest where they both grew up. And Alice's father inexplicably moves the family away to London. All these years later, everything changes. Returning to her childhood home on the death of her grandmother, journalist Alice Myers finds a community in upheaval. The death of her friend Ellie is just the start. Her body washed up on the rocks looks, at first, like suicide. Alice is persuaded to write an obituary about Ellie as a way of unravelling the mystery of her death. While her interest becomes obsessive, DI Neil Hunter pursues the investigation about this and subsequent murders. Is a serial killer on the rampage? Who will be the next victim? But it is only when they begin working together that the truth emerges about this isolated community and its harrowing past and present. A truth even Alice can scarcely believe.
The De Clerambault Code (Mystery & Thrillers)
1 chapters   —   updated Apr 03, 2013 04:58AM
Description: A tense, taut tale of mounting suspense and chilling drama. An intricately plotted psychological thriller that explores obsession, madness, betrayal and fear. She has an affair. She ends it. She thinks it's finished. She's fatally miscalculated... On the same evening Laura Hill first meets Sean Cazaly, her secretary Katie is attacked by 'happy slapping' thugs and Sonila arrives from Albania as part of a human trafficking scam targeting Laura's language school. Looking back, the three occurrences seem to merge seamlessly into one, a chain of events leading each in its own way inexorably to violence and, ultimately, death. But at the time, they are quite separate, quite distinct. If only with hindsight, she could now rewind the past like a reel of film, she would never have let it begin, that relationship that began so promisingly but would soon bring about the destruction of all around... What lies ahead is already here - with the shocking revelation of... The De Clerambault Code.
