I Left You Hanging...Until Now

I have to say the hardest challenge I have had in my short writing career was creating a series that left my readers hanging in the first two books, The Eyewitness and The Analyst of The D’Azzo Family series. I don’t particularly care for cliffhangers, but that's how this series came to me. What if… am amazing husband, a father and a detective was killed in cold blood, but his killer wasn’t revealed until the last book? To be fair, I did give everyone a very sweet happily-ever-after for Emersyn and Alec and Tessa and Eric. One reviewer on Goodreads even said, The Analyst was “a heart-thumping suspense, and a crazy, sweet romance.” With that said, I did leave the suspense element, who killed Joe D'Azzo, left wide open. So, what happens in the final chapter? The image does hint that there will be a happy ending. That's all I can give you. I will not ruin the fun of reading The Protector.  But, what I do have is a teaser. In this excerpt, you will meet Nathan D’Azzo and see what he’s been up to while his sisters were doing their thing. The Protector, Book 3, and the final chapter of The D’Azzo Family series releases February 18, 2020. Hugs to all! Nancy C. My To-Do List for 2020--A Little Different Than Last Year

Happy New Year! I would like to say that when the ball dropped in New York City at 12:00 am January 1, 2020, I switched off the television with the thought that January 1st was just another day. It really is just another day, right? Instead of falling asleep, my mind and body so tired from the holiday season, I spent the next hour or so mentally writing down what I had to do in the coming months to push my dream forward and to grow as an author. My heart began to race, my fingers, fidgeted under the sheet, and the to-list grew in the dark at an alarming rate... ReleaseTheProtectorAdsforTheProtectorarrangeblogvisitsforTheProtectorworkondevelopmentaleditsforTheProtectorfinishcopyeditsforTheProtectorgetARCtoreadersgetTheProtectorfinalcopyloadedonAmazonstarteditsomShadowsandLightseriesWhendoIreleaseIntheShadowofEvilandGreednewcoversforserieswhereisthedeletedchaptersforIntheShadowofEvildamnkidneystoneshurtsixkidneystoneshowdoesonepersongetsixstonesatthesametimeijustspeciallikethatAREyouFREAKINGmeAyearormoretopassIneedtosleepshutdownbrainsleepsleepsleep…. Yup, that’s the cliff note version. At some point, sleep fought its way in, shoving out the noise. The panic didn’t go away when the sun came up. I’m proud to say I didn’t allow it to eat at me the whole day. Instead, I made a coconut cream pie and pork tamales while my brain worked on ways to de-stress my life. I still have to pull out my colored pens and jot down on my new calendar my expectations and goals for 2020. I owe that to my family, friends, and readers. But before that can happen, I need to take stock of what is the most important thing I can do this year. Here is what I came up with… My Goals for 2020—Please Hold Me Accountable! 1. Be kind to ME. The only one placing pressure on me is me. 2. Take care of yourself. Eat Healthy Get out of the writer’s cave Exercise! Find what works for you now and enjoy it. Make plans with family and friends Breath in Fresh Air! 3. Your dream matters, but living your life matters more. 4. Plan something fun/different/out of me zone at least once a month. 5. Sleep more. 6. Watch more television—yeah, I need this with a finish work before relaxing mentality. 7. Make time to Read, a lot! One to two books a month is so much better than no time to read. 8. A notation in the calendar isn’t carved in my blood. It’s okay to re-schedule. Be Kind to ME, remember? Worth repeating. My life is finite. Wasting even an instant in panic over a to-do list is just waste of good time. What are your goals? I would love for you to share them in comments. Maybe we can help each other keep to our goals from over shadowing what really matters. Hugs to all! Nancy C. Weeks Don't forget to join my Facebook Fan Page, Nancy's Corner and follow me on BookBub. My Space to be Me

Welcome you to my new updated website and blog. I want to let you know what can expect from me and this space. I began blogging in 2012 while I was querying my first completed romantic suspense novel, In the Shadow of Evil. This story lived in my head and heart for too long. The very thought of seeing my story and my name on the book cover, impossible. But somehow, I wrote that first sentence. After forty-eight rejections from acquisition editors and agents, I signed my first book contact in 2013 and released my debut novel, In the Shadow of Greed. Five months later, In the Shadow of Evil had its turn, finally. This month, along with launching my new and improved website, I’m outlining my tenth novel. I love dreamers who sucked in their fear and reached for the impossible. It is a joy to interview authors, artists, composers, scientists - anyone who have fought through one battle after another to keep their dream alive. So, if this sounds like something you know something about, please reach out to me for an interview. This is your space. Share your journey. Who doesn’t want to hear firsthand from the real person behind the story and/or behind the music? Occasionally, you will run into a few unusual characters here. I love giving either my characters or another author’s characters a chance to speak their minds. And sometimes, it’s a little shocking what they have to add to their story. I will also use this space to share bits and pieces of my life. If what I have done in some small way gives you the courage to follow your heart, there is nothing so rewarding. What’s up next? I need a name for my blog so watch for my first contest, Name Nancy’s Blog. I would love your help. Until we meet again, I wish your great health and contentment. Take a moment to sit back and read a great book. Hugs to all, Nancy C. Weeks Don't forget to join my Facebook Fan Page, Nancy's Corner and follow me on BookBub.
