Born and raised in southern California where flowers bloom year-round, Jill K. Sayre loves plants and gardening. She grew up in a small town, just outside
of Los Angeles, full of beautiful Arts & Crafts homes, with her antique-collecting parents. While attending UCLA, Jill modeled and received her degree in Art. She continued on to
receive her Teaching Credentials in Elementary Education, specializing in gifted learners.

Her husband’s work moved them, and their three children, to Dallas . . . twice. She fell in love with the beauty found in Highland Park, Texas where she resides today. Her first book, The Fairies of Turtle Creek, is woven with the things she loves, like nature, science, art, folklore, and the early 1900’s. Jill illustrated

And usually the walk involves my dog, Bella, and my iPhone purely for the use of its camera. I take pictures of anything I find beautiful. It could be a shadow, a cluster of acorns, or even interesting bark on a tree.

My other tip for dealing with writer's block is to go on the internet and search images from the story I am working on. I print them and cut them out and glue them into my "Writer's Art Journal". (less)

I discover what my readers are thinking about certain passages and it makes me a better writer to know what they like. People are always kind and have wonderful experiences that they want to share, based on what happened in my story. And it's also really great that I do a lot of my work in my pajamas!(less)

North Texas Book Festival

Book Festivals are truly the celebration of books and the authors who create them. The energy emitted from all of those enthusiastic and clever souls is easily felt and it's exhilarating.

I recently signed books at the North Texas Book Festival and it was no different. To my right was a gentleman whose book had just been published and it was his first book festival. To my left, a woman working... Read more of this blog post »

Was a fun read. I looked forward to picking it up to read every day. A bit like a drunk Bridget Jones, Rachel made many decisions that made me cringe, but it is a very forward-moving novel and kept me interested. I can see this story as a movie.
