Anaphylaxis, Allergy and Intolerances – Reactions and what actions to take.
May is celiac disease awareness month by the way – I have celiac disease and a couple of other serious or strange (of course I would!) allergies. Have a read with Sally, and see how these things work. :)

In this post I am going to take a look at the terms Allergy and Intolerance and explain the differences between the two. Many people will say that they have an allergy to certain foods for example but in fact they have an intolerance.
There are many symptoms and common ailments that are linked to food allergies and finding out what might be causing these is step one in resolving the problem naturally. Anxiety, arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, ME. Hayfever, Celiac disease, diabetes, headaches and eczema are just some of the diseases that could be linked to certain foods. Certainly long term intolerance or allergy to foods can contribute to more serious conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Cancer.
The first reaction that most people have is to totally discard the food responsible and never touch it again. Some people develop such a totally restricted diet that they do themselves harm…

Please Help – We Have To Take A Stand

As a rule I try to keep the weekend posts here at Unload and Unwind to more humorous topics as a way of taking a step back from the more serious pieces that I write about politics and the environment. However I have decided that this issue far out ways the need to step back and in fact I am calling for all of us to step forward, to raise our voice and add our names to the petitions being created around the world decrying the horrendous taking of a number of young girls in Nigeria.
As most may be aware on April 16 of this year 200 girls were kidnapped by an extremist group called ‘Boko Haram‘. This was done so that they would be unable to take their examinations and to call a halt to the education of women in that country. Around the world the…

You READ – but do you leave REVIEWS?

If not, why not?
I don’t have time
The author probably spent a heck of a lot more time writing the story than you took to read it, no matter how slow you think you are, so why not take a few minutes to record your feelings about it.
I can’t write long fancy reviews like those I see on book review blogs
You don’t have to, Amazon, for example, only ask you to use a minimum of 25 non repeating words.
I can’t express myself very well
No-one is asking you to produce a literary masterpiece, start off with things you liked, didn’t like or a mix of both about the book, e.g.,
I liked this book because -
it reminded me of -
it made me think about -
it made me so scared I couldn’t sleep for -
it made me feel homesick for -
it made…

Dairy cows destined for slaughter after a lifetime of providing milk for humans, are rescued by locals and this is the cows’ reaction to being let out into pastureland that will be there home until they die naturally.

5 Book Review Rules Which Could Make Writers Hate You Less
Originally posted on Tara Sparling writes:
Book reviews are the cod liver oil of the writing world. Writers need them, and they can do an awful lot of good, but they can also leave an incredibly nasty taste in the mouth.
You can’t switch on the Internet these days without seeing an author giving out about book reviews and how unfair/mean/reprehensible/soul-destroying they are. There is always a writer whinging somewhere about the tears they shed over a nasty review, how personal it was, and why so-and-so was out to destroy them.
Now, for some writers of the thinner skinned variety, this might mean a review which says something unforgiveable such as “I didn’t like this book“. For others, it might take a little more venom. Such as an anonymous review which says “I would have used this book for toilet paper, but my soft under bits would have rejected it too.”

The first crow video was obviously very popular, not just on the blog but also on other sites that I posted on. I have two or three others but this one is so complex that even humans have found difficult to work out. This crow took under 3 minutes to solve. Brilliant and mind blowing.

Quickie Twitter Tip
When you’re looking for a tweet to retweet, sometimes you have to scroll down…. and down….. and then down some more…… People who retweet a lot (such as myself) are a sometimes hard work to pay back, and I’m sure that a lot of potential retweeters eventually give up. Also, sometimes you’ll tweet a link that you really would like loads of retweets for, but instead you only get your blurry chicken shot retweeted, and hardly anyone in Twitterverse gets to find out about your gorgeous new release because it got swamped by a sea of tweets.
What you can do is pin a fresh tweet every day which will stay right at the top of your stream, making it easier for your retweeters, and better for your news. At the bottom of your sent tweet, click on the MORE icon, select PIN, and Bob’s your uncle! Change it every day simply by pinning another one.
