Milk Allergy, Lactose Intolerance and links to Leaky gut and Candida Albicans.

MILK ALLERGY.
Milk or Dairy Allergy is surprisingly common but there is some confusion over milk allergy and lactose intolerance.
A dairy allergy is an immune response that results in inflammation and tissue damage and it can be exhibited in any part of the body causing a wide range of problems. It is an immune response to the protein, Casein, in Cow dairy products that the body perceives as a threat. It is very rare for there to be the same reaction to the protein found in Goat’s milk which is a different protein. It is usually a genetic problem passed down through the family. If someone is reacting to both the casein in cow’s milk and the different protein in Goat’s milk then it is more likely to be leaky gut syndrome where inappropriate proteins are escaping into the bloodstream and causing an allergic reaction. You need to visit Jo’s amazing blog with gorgeous photos and fascinating posts that will take your breath away.
The rules of this tour are to answer some questions about the main character in a work in progress, and then tag authors who you admire to join the hop if they want to.
The Questions:
1. What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
Mariah is a fictional person who is the main character. Everything in the story revolves around her. She is a strong young woman who finds herself tested in every way by life and family and her first love. This is my first…

The Monday Moan – Suffering and Cruelty Are NEVER Funny Things.
True, true! Seems to me that the smaller the creature, the more acceptable some psychotic idiot thinks torturing it is.

Those of you familiar with my Monday Moans will know that they are usually light hearted pops at the little things that irritate from time to time. Nothing major; nothing important. I hope I haven’t lulled you into a sense of security too much, as today’s post is somewhat different. The subject of today’s moan is something about which I feel very strongly, and as such it’s going to be an unusually serious post. Perhaps I should have waited until tomorrow and called it ‘The Tuesday Tirade’, because this post has the potential to turn into a full blown rant.
Deep breaths, and let’s begin.
Years ago, I regularly used to listen to a radio breakfast show. One of the features on this show aired listeners’ stories about some misdemeanour in their past to which they now wanted to confess. The stories (like my Monday Moan) were meant to be…

The Writers Shack Rocks
A while ago, before being struck down by sugar and almost expiring entirely, I won second prize in the really, really cool The Writers Shack Biggest Book Giveaway Ever. I’ve got piles of fantastic new ebooks, and then today I got a couple of wonderful surprises too. The Writers Shack is a favourite site to pop into – there’s always something good happening over there.
I was expecting a parcel of my own books. You never know how these will arrive around here though – sometimes I get them from the post office, and sometimes a really zoomy Fedex driver arrives at warp speed in the driveway and tosses them at me out of his window. Anyway, I’d got my notification that my books had been shipped, and then I got the post office slip, so I assumed these were them. Not so keen on the post office though – I reckon those guys study for years to perfect the art of ultimate slowness, and rudeness immaculate in its delivery every time. This morning I almost got annoyed (I don’t often get annoyed, because I generally find people fascinating, even when they’re being gigantic tools). I came close today only because I had to hold my jeans up as well as my cellphone and bits and pieces. This no sugar and carb thing really does the trick by the way, so skinny jeans aren’t at all skinny anymore, and I had no desire to flash my bum at the worthy citizens of this little town.
That postal guy accidently (maybe not though – he was really GOOD at doing strange things), flung his stapler all the way across the room, spent twenty five minutes trying to fix it – failed – and then wandered off for half an hour. When he came back, he glared at me for a while, then wandered off some more. Finally he came back with two small parcels, dropped my ID in between the wall and the back of his desk, and tried to write with his pen while holding it upside down. You can’t get annoyed with that kind of talent, and even more impressive – while doing all of these amazing things, he never uttered a single word. So I just smiled and held on to my pants while he fished my ID out from a behind a pile of stuff under his desk with a ruler. Anyway. Turns out that these two parcels held two paperback books sent to me by their authors as part of my win on The Writers Shack Giveaway.
I’m so chuffed and impressed I can’t stop grinning. I know that it’s expensive to ship books across the globe to South Africa, but that to me is money well spent, because these two authors have just got themselves one new die-hard fan each. Both of these books are genres that I enjoy, and reading them is going to be an absolute pleasure. So thank you very much to Riley Banks for sending me her book, Vampire Origins.

Meet my Main Character Blog Tour – meet Diana Grace.
Originally posted on Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life:
The idea behind this Meet my Main Character blog tour is to discover new projects in process for authors and to meet their leading man, woman, child or zombie for that matter. Participating involves answering some questions and then tagging three or four other authors you would like to showcase.
I’ve been tagged by someone who I consider to be a friend despite the many miles between us. She is a writer, blogger, artist and an ardent defender of wildlife in all its diversity. Her books will make you laugh and cry as well as empathise with the characters she so adeptly portrays.
Jo Robinson can be found here on WordPress at http://africolonialstories.wordpress.com/ and in her Meet the Main Character blog tour she introduced us to her work in process.

Possibly Cool Freebie and Tail Feathers
I’m having problems with WordPress now. I’m not getting notifications of all the comments, so I’m having to go back over each post to find any I’ve missed until I can sort it out. I promise I would never intentionally ignore a comment, so please forgive me if I haven’t answered any yet. Life has been so busy these last couple of weeks, I’ve only had a couple of minutes at a time at my computer, and I’ve missed out on a lot around and about my lovely interweb. All of this physical activity and lack of sweets is all very good for the bod, but I’m having terrible research and writing withdrawal symptoms.
One possibly good thing I spotted trawling through this morning is a bookish freebie to download from the Giveaway of the Day site. I’ve downloaded it already because these things only last for twenty four hours, but I haven’t fiddled with it yet so I can’t say whether it’s any good or not. It looks like it could be a very useful reader/scribblers tool though, so have a look at All My Books and see if you fancy it.
Now I’d better get back to seeing what I’ve done wrong with WordPress again. I still haven’t figured out who hoiked Jelly’s tail feathers out, although it really doesn’t bother him at all.
He’s the only little guy around here that pulls tails and bounces on heads, so it must have been retribution. Beanie usually just squishes his beak a bit with her foot when he gets too far in her face, so I doubt that it was her.
Button just generally cruises around doing his own thing – so I can’t see him doing it.
Jelly being Jelly maybe just fancied a new look – or could be his little bum got hot from eating too many chillies. Anyway – they’re all still buddies and zooming around.
How To Write Live Like a Goblin on Going Through the Motions

After a hiatus due to my circumstances the resident Goblin is back. Today he takes us through his motions.

the goblin had been admiring the wet weather, like a toad on a toadstool, simply that today too promised to be dull at best, as he readies himself for the same old tour to the mountains under those now all too familiar ominous rainclouds again, the goblin, lifting his spirits to the occasion, starts singing “…I’ll be going through the motions when it rains, I’ll be going through the motions when it rains, I’ll be going though the motions, going though the motions, going though the motions, I’ll am going though the motions when she pours…” to an onlooking day, who is not really impressed, while the goblin’s “song against the weather” continues throughout, somehow leaving the only real question as to who would break first, “…ah, but I have…

Oh no, it’s the M word. Yes. Marketing.
A couple of times on this blog recently, Seumas has been talking about singing and it got me thinking.
When I was a kid, I was in the church choir – not so much because I could sing as to make up the numbers. That said I liked the hymns and anthems and I could certainly make a lot of enthusiastic noise. Actually, I like singing, full stop. Preferably, at the highest volume possible, and the great thing about church is that no matter how out of tune I sing, they’re stuffed because it would be highly unchristian to tell me to shut up. But I digress… As I sang in the choir, I used to let my mind wander and daydream that the church was…

Meet My Main Character Blog Tour
Originally posted on Weaver Grace:
Jo Robinson tagged me to continue a tradition of bloggers. Meet My Main Character Blog Tours resemble radio interviews: tune in now for answers to questions posed to me, and a week later for answers to the same questions posed to other authors. This tour asks the authors of works-in-progress to answer questions about the main characters of their historical fiction novels. Jo describes her main character as being part of other-worldly myths that she (her main character) doesn’t believe in. Jo features this character in her Shadow People series.
Jo and I write similarly: our characters tell us their stories, and we merely translate them into a language that you can read.
And now, the questions and answers about my historical novel-in-progress:
What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
Polly is my grandmother’s grandmother, as I imagine her.
