Hi and welcome to this week’s Reblog Saturday. Thank you so much for dropping in and sharing these wonderful posts. I will be adding more throughout the day as I am back and forth between my desk and ‘duties’!
Chris, The Story Reading Ape kindly featured me on his terrific blog. A great supporter of Indie writers and many of us have reason to thank him.

My thanks to the wonderful Gilda Evans for her insightful guest spot last Sunday. Stepping out into the dating game again after a long pause can be daunting but she offers down to earth, realistic advice to get you started.

“The Angler and the Owl” by Viv Drewa – 6 five star reviews – eBook 99c/77p for a limited time!
Originally posted on theowlladyblog:
For 25 years France Hunter has been studying owls, and has discovered five new species around the world. Her work has kept her busy and she never had time for a relationship. She travels with Jason “Doc” Bradley, a former paramedic, and his cousins Tony and Andy Bradley. Now, on her last outing she is joined by a magazine writer, Cathy Birch, and a world famous angler, John Sinclair, who has also dedicated his life to his field.
As the small caravan travels to the Amazon river France falls and severely injures her left arm. Against Doc’s recommendation to turn back, she pushes on. This is her last trip and she wants to go to the place where she found her first new owl.
While fishing a blue-ringed owl lands on John’s canoe and looks down the river to where France’s group is, and then looks back at him…

Meet Guest Author Sally Cronin
Meet Sally Cronin – she’s with Chris today!

Hi my name is Sally Cronin and I am writing this from my home in Madrid where I live with my husband. Before I was a writer, I was many other things to many other people . Now into my 60’s I am enjoying converting a lifetime of travel and meeting fascinating people into words in books, short stories and by blogging.
My relationship with books by other authors.
We moved around a great deal when I was a child with my father’s naval career and lived in some amazing countries such as Sri Lanka, Malta and South Africa. Luckily for me, my two elder sisters who were ten and eleven years older, let me trail behind them from the age of 18 months and when possible do whatever they did. Something that sometimes did not end well! However they were both avid readers and apart from wonderful bedtime…

Insistant Muses
Always falling off the bus. Things are a little chaotic here at the moment – lots that has to be done by currently fairly sickly me. It’s all getting nicely done though, and I’m nearly done with the doing, not to mention being done in. Lots of dones. I’m not going to complain overly much about not being able to get to my computer lately, because I’m enjoying the feel of bum in chair here again far too much. Pardon the cobwebs around here though. Although I wonder sometimes why we all feel the need to apologise so much for things that we have no control over – trying to make excuses for life. It happens the way it should probably, and resistance is generally futile, so you just have to do the best that you can.
My trouble with not writing every day is that when I spend too much time doing physical things my muse gets to run loose in my mind, tossing back Tequila slammers and dropping cigar ash all over the furniture. She’s a wild one, my muse. And a bully too. No point in fighting when she’s on a roll. Thanks to her recent rowdy spree, from right now I’ll be working on three books instead of just the two being published this year. The WIP she hauled forward while I’ve been slaving away is one that I was going to publish as a short-ish story last year, but put on the shelf with quite a lot of other things when time ran away from me.
It’s going to be a full length book instead of a short now, and I’m quite excited that it’s inserted itself into my daily writing pile. I enjoy working on more than one story every day a lot more than I enjoyed writing one at a time. It keeps them all fresh and current for me, and my writing never feels like a chore, because I know that as soon as I slow down on one I have another waiting for me. I’m glad too that I never got around to publishing it as a short. As madam muse kept on bringing it up so much more kept happening, and now I’m excited to be fleshing it out to what it should be. It’s true what Stephen King says – write your book, then toss it in a drawer for a year before getting to editing and publishing. Sometimes these stories stew very nicely, and looking at them with fresh eyes after a while shows you exactly what they need to be.
So – three books for 2014 it is, and I know I’m going to love every minute of the process this time. It’s all about the writing at the end of the day. Still – this is such an amazing time to be an indie writer, with all the things happening in the publishing world right now. Hissy fits and pies thrown in faces all over the place in our world of books, changes and new opportunities popping up. I reckon that I personally will sit back and watch for a month or so to see how things go before I leap into the new toy fray. Who knows where this industry will be in a couple of years, but it’s pretty certain that it won’t be what it is today, and in the meantime, I for one am loving the ride and enjoying the views.

I have been struggling with the visa process here since I left Amani and joined Good Hope in May. Unfortunately my application has been dogged with errors; most due to poor advice and/or had been pinpointed by me as points for concern. It was further hindered by poor communication IE: nobody bothering to tell me what was needed and, of course, a dose of good old-fashioned fell through the cracks syndrome. The resulting delay means that technically, anyone studying my passport would think I am in the country illegally, which in turn means I cannot go through passport control to leave the country without raising the red flag and possible (dare I say probable) detainment. This has not been a pleasant feeling and has caused me some considerable stress and more than a few nightmare driven nights featuring small rooms and buckets.
Today I finally handed over the dosh and got…

You cannot switch on the television, check the latest updates online or pick up a newspaper without seeing some senseless act of violence being played out somewhere around the world. Recently we have seen our own teenagers being drawn into conflicts thousands of miles away as they answer the calls by violent men and women to join a devastating crusade.
We often ask the question ‘When does all this end’? But perhaps the question we really need to resolve is ‘Where did it all begin’?
Of course there is little new in history and you only have to go back a century to see that conflicts involving opposing ideologies and territorial disputes cause death, destruction and massive changes in national boundaries and displaced populations.
Within our own generations it is clear to see that there has been a shift in the age groups involved in anti-social behaviour with children and…

As usual a busy week here on the mountain with cosmetic work on the house well under way for the estate agents visit shortly. Our friends down the road had a party last night with a Mexican theme – great food, company and music – I was dancing for a couple of hours and we are both a wee bit fragile….however a wonderful evening.
Have slowly come to life and it has helped having such wonderful blogs to share. I hope you enjoy the selection as much as I did. Some great new creative people to follow.
Tomorrow my guest is Gilda Evans – an author, public speaker and women’s advocate from Los Angeles. I asked her to give some advice on the subject of dating. Not for teenagers but for men and women who have had long term relationships and are working up the courage to step out again.

The Sunday Show – Gilda Evans – Author, Public Speaker – Getting back out on the dating scene!
It’s time for Sally’s Sunday Show with a pretty fascinating lady, Gilda Evans. Getting back on the dating scene – eek!
Originally posted on Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life:
My guest this week is a highly regarded writer, public speaker and entrepreneur. Gilda Evans has followed a number of paths in life including careers in design, television writing, producing and directing for CBS, HBO, Showtime and Warner Brothers. However, following some experiences in her personal life, Gilda has turned her expertise in all these combined areas into an inspirational, educational and humorous series of books and programmes for women of all ages called ‘Girl Talk’.
Rather than talk about all the varied areas of life that Gilda covers in her work and on her site, I thought we might tackle an area that probably terrifies and mystifies anyone over 40 who suddenly finds themselves back on the dating scene.
I have been married for 34 years and have settled into a rather comfortable and pleasant relationship with someone I consider my much ‘better’ half and also my best friend…
