Sally’s Second Day of Christmas had me tearing up with happiness. Thank you my lovely friend for every single word.

Welcome to the Second Day of Christmas and I am joined today by a dear friend of mine who lives in South Africa. Jo was one of the first to notice my blog just about a year ago when I picked up the challenge again following a two year hiatus. I was badly in need of TLC as far as my writing was concerned and Jo has provided that continuously both online at the blog and other social media sites but also in recent months via Email.
Last week I was very honoured to receive the Written Kindness Award from another talented and supportive friend and fellow blogger Olga Nunez Miret. I of course reciprocate wholeheartedly thank you Olga and will be giving in turn to Jo and other generous souls here on WordPress over the course of this series. Acceptance does not mean that you have to award onwards

The First Day of Christmas – With special guests and trivia.
Sally’s getting us all into that festive mood, starting today. :)

Welcome to the first of the Twelve Days of Christmas and a little trivia to get you in the party mood. I have canvassed some friends of mine here in blog land to help me out with some of their favourite music for this time of year carols and also music that reminds us of family gatherings, parties and our childhood.
I tried to remember the first Christmas that I was aware of as a child. I must have got the general idea of the concept of presents quite young as at age seven when we moved to Malta I began the practice of putting a pillowcase on the end of my bed from around mid-October. I think this ticked my mother off somewhat because she sat me down at the beginning of December and told me that Father Christmas did not exist and that from now on I

Conditions
When Charles and Tonys mother dies the estranged brothers must struggle to pick up the pieces, particularly so given that one of them is mentally challenged and the other bitter about his place within the family.
The conflict is drawn out over materialistic issues, but there are other underlying problems which go to the heart of what it means to be part of a family which, in one way or another. has cast one aside.
Prejudice, misconceptions and the human condition in all forms feature in this contemporary drama revolving around a group of people who attend the subsequent funeral at the British South Coast.
Meet flamboyant gardener Charles, loner Simon, selfless psychic Elaine, narcissistic body-builder Edgar, Martha and her version of unconditional love and many others as they try to deal with the

Simile Similah
Its a lot more fun writing a book than finishing it in some ways. For me the trip goes a bit like this. Gets bright idea for a novel. Furiously starts to scribble. Absolutely certain that this is IT. The ONE! Its AWESOME, and its going straight to #1! Finishes book. Makes big announcement. Gets back to editing. Decides book is absolute adverb riddled, tell dont show drivel. Cries. Starts fixing it. Laughs out loud, realising that it really is AWESOME. Finds more adverbs and a plot hole. No. Its definitely a lump of coal. Cries. Repairs and rereads through tears. YES! Its BRILLIANT! But no…. Ahem…
Theres just a week and a bit before my next book goes live, and Im a very busy bunny making sure that there arent any dreaded lurgies still lurking in it. I have an unnatural fondness for adverbs, even though all the world says that theyre devil things, and I also like a funny simile or two in a story, whether its supposed to be serious or not. On the fence about removing one of mine, I went looking around for others, and found these.
A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. Steve Martin
Delly lost her temper at Peeta over how he treated you. She got very squeaky. It was like someone stabbing a mouse with a fork repeatedly. Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay
The truth is like a nipple: the more you twist it, the more somebody is going to get hurt. Jarod Kintz
He had electric blue hair that had stuck around his head like tendrils of a startled octopus. Cassandra Clare, City of Bones
Getting an education was a bit like a communicable sexual disease. It made you unsuitable for a lot of jobs, and then you had the urge to pass it on. Terry Pratchett, Hogfather
So I reckon Ill keep my funny little sentence just the way it is. While I was nosing about the internet, I found this hilarious list of similes from students. Number twelve is my favourite, Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze. Now that really is a brilliant sentence.

Why Google+? Getting Started.

Why G+? Well because GOOGLE. Google owns the internet mostly. I must say that I much prefer G+ to Facebook. I find that theres much more camaraderie there, and a lot less competition and skirmishes. Removing someone from a Google circle comes with none of the shots from the bow associated with Unfriending on Facebook, and it is so much easier to connect with a massive cross section of society on G+.

Getting closer to Christmas and I am still browsing the halls here in Blogland to find gifts to fill the shelves in the Emporiumand today one for all ages who love fantasy, wizardry and Unicorns.
Kevin Cooper is an author and an amateur musician. He has a wonderfully diverse blog where all are welcome and his author interviews are very popular. His love of art, photography and cats is obvious as his love of music which is the subject of his other blog Kevs Music Blog.
I have picked a book that I think is perfect for Christmas and in fact found out that Kevin has also promoted himself this morning. I have put a link to his post so that you can get a double dose.
This will go in the Christmas Gift Emporium along with the other books, music and design that I have gathered from both guests

Thanks for inviting me, Selena. Im grateful to be here on your beautiful blog. Its wonderful to come to a place that is open to a variety of genres and writers without restriction. It is this openness and genre defying that I want to talk about.

Before you head under the Mistletoe – A wee bit of Peppermint might improve your chances!

It is the season for Christmas parties and family gatherings and at this time of year there is the additional pleasure of getting kissed under the mistletoe of course it all depends on who is doing the kissing, but having fresh breath before embarking on this lovely activity is essential. And also having something to ward of the unwanted attentions of any germs that might be lurking in the vicinity! We will also be eating richer food than normal and that can cause digestive upsets and is one of the reasons we become so prone to infections during the holiday season.
You may have noticed that almost all non-prescription preparations that claim to help indigestion are mint flavoured. And this is not just because mint has a nice taste. Mint is one of the oldest known treatments for indigestion and its inclusion in medicines is due to the plants
