Sugars – 371 million people have diabetes worldwide. Pre-Diabetes and Glycemic Index

jorobinson176:

An excellent article from Sally covering the symptoms of pre-diabetes and what to eat to prevent it.

As many as three million Americans may have T1D. Diabetes currently affects more than 371 million people worldwide and is expected to affect 552 million by 2030. In the U.S., a new case of diabetes is diagnosed every 30 seconds; more than 1.9 million people are diagnosed each year. jdrf.org/about-jdrf/fact-sheets/general-diabetes-facts/

The frightening thing about the above statement is that apart from the 1.9 million people who will be diagnosed with diabetes Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes this year there will be millions more who will ignore the symptoms and remain undiagnosed and untreated. This will lead to health complications and probably chronic and fatal diseases.

It is very important to catch the disease early and make some changes to diet and lifestyle to rebalance blood sugar levels. In the last posts I have talked about the various sugars that are available, which ones to avoid and how

The archetypal Indie ?

Make the Back Cover of your Paper Book Work for You

Originally posted on :

What Im about to suggest to you is something that Im in the process of updating, and its not quite complete with all my books, so dont yell Liar, Liar!! yet. I think its a really good idea for your paper books to act as the marketing tools that they should be for your other writing. Self publishing a paper book on Createspace is fairly easy. Writing a book blurb or synopsis, on the other hand, has always seemed harder than writing an actual full length novel to me. On a paperback, whats on the tail is vital though. I think that its just as important as the cover design for a book that you hold in your hands to read. The first thing I do in a bookstore after glancing at the cover is turn it around. I read the authors biography, eyeball his or her photo, and then

About the Book.

Extinct beast comes to life, stalks Ozarks town.

In The Wolfs Moon, Patrick Jones writes a suspense thriller where one man must hunt down a mysterious wolf that preys upon the people of a small town and creates a spellbinding tale of an ancient animal that haunts the foothill towns of Missouris Ozark Mountains. An unknown group of scientists has genetically engineered a Dire Wolf into the present day. Allegedly extinct, the ferocious beast preys upon the innocent people of Maple Hills.

To hunt and kill the beast, the town folk will have to rely on the tracking feats of Mark Lansdowne. He is a reluctant hero, still mourning the loss of his wife to illness. Relying on his rescue dogs

Have you a will or does it need updating?

Originally posted on Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life:

I saw this article today on the online Daily Mail and it was the second time this week that I have seen mention of wills or lack of.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/pensions/article-2967505/When-William-died-left-300-000-son-never-saw-penny-write-will.html

I will let you read the article for yourself, but it is so important particularly when you have children, that a will is made or updated sooner rather than later.

Nobody likes to think about death particularly in relation to our own mortality but it is inevitable.. for some tragically that might be sooner rather than later. We made our first will when we bought our first house in 1982 in our 20s and have had one ever since.

It is particularly important if you have children since it could happen that both of you might die as a result of an accident or illness and leave small children without a guardian. It is so vital to make sure that the

Wedging Romance into Fantasy

Originally posted on Legends of Windemere:

Having romance in a fantasy story seems to be a kiss of death for some people. At least today since I remember most fantasy books I read in my youth had some type of romantic subplot. Is there anything you can do to ease the inclusion?

Accept that some people will be upset as soon as the subplot is hinted at. Theres nothing you can do about this. Just remember that its your story and you know what youre doing.
Dont worry about the sex. You can show it if you want, but people will jump to that conclusion on their own. Whether it be assuming two characters slept together or requesting that they do, many readers seem to gravitate toward this taboo topic. As the author, you decide how far things go in this arena. Keep your audience in mind, but you have to

Featured author or blogger

If you would like to be featured, please contact me at pamela984 at yahoo.com. But to start with, Im going to be hand picking my favorites. Look for the first post this Thursday.

The Trial of Involution-An Odyssey. Opening the Case for the Prosecution.

Judge. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. The Court thanks you for your time and for what will, I am afraid, be a trial lasting several weeks. This is not a trivial case but one which will have a bearing on many other cases in which books subject their Authors to unwarranted pressures, if not seeming torture. In this age of abundant plenitude and a surfeit of books of all qualities and values it behoves this Court to bring a test trial to examination. The essence of our examination will focus upon the following principal questions:

Firstly. How can an Author evaluate the claims made upon her by a Book? Or decide whether the Book in question has a value that justifies not only its creation, but the prolonged energy, time and money required to bring it to birth

Sugar Extra – Fizzy Drinks They cannot be really be harmful for us can they? $125billion per year says of course not

Guest Post – Charles Yallowitz Author of Legends of Windemere

Thank you to John W. Howell for asking me this question that may cause me to take back the first two words of this sentence. How does an author retaining the core of a character in a long series while still evolving them? Definitely a brain scrambler if one isnt ready for it and the answer can change depending on how one seems individual growth. I mean, do we retain a central identity throughout our lives while altering pieces of it or do we change entirely as we gain experiences? Thankfully, John isnt paying me to answer that question, so I get to stay within the realm of fiction.

First a little background to show you the scale that Im working
