Kate lives with her family halfway between Dartmoor and the sea in Devon, UK.

She's done a bit of journalism; writes a bit of poetry and has finally finished her MA Creative Writing. Alongside, she's writing the Dark Sleepers sequel.

She's addicted to social media and kettle chips.

As a teenager Kate traipsed the moor imagining herself in some version of Wuthering Heights. Nothing much has changed.

Poetry Never Fails Unlike my Mother's Cooking....

I've been having a crisis of writing these last few months.

It's been a time of word barrenness due to high stress and balls of anxiety nestling in my belly. This is not unusual I expect... Graham Greene famously used dream journaling as a way to move through his creative blockages.

I use napping. Afternoon snoozes, windows flung wide open to the smells and scents of burgeoning Spring trees ripe... Read more of this blog post »

Roald Dahl
“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”
Roald Dahl

George Carlin
“Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!”
George Carlin

Lemony Snicket
“Are you ready?" Klaus asked finally.
"No," Sunny answered.
"Me neither," Violet said, "but if we wait until we're ready we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives, Let's go.”
Lemony Snicket, The Ersatz Elevator

Dorothy Parker
“By the time you swear you're his,
Shivering and sighing.
And he vows his passion is,
Infinite, undying.
Lady make note of this --
One of you is lying.”
Dorothy Parker

Johnny Depp
“You can close your eyes to the things you don't want to see, but you can't close your heart to the things you don't want to feel.”
Johnny Depp
