Michael Hibbard (1970 - ) was born in New Jersey and has lived up and down the east coast. For 15 years he has been researching, illustrating and writing about an alternate version of our reality called the Waking Dream Universe. The ideas for the Waking Dream came from many years of role-playing, philosophical study, theological study and trying to understand the weird world of Quantum Mechanics. The first two books in the Waking Dream were previously self-published, but are now unavailable as he has signed with Phantasm Books/Assent Publishing.

Waking Dream: Devlin has been released and is now available on Amazon and all other eBook platforms

Science Needs to Rediscover Itself

It has been a very long time since I’ve found the inspiration to write. It happens, especially when the mind is running many threads of thought, trying to resolve problems. Contemplation is a necessary mechanism for humans, as we do not process information in a linear fashion. Our minds explore countless connections between synapses until … Continue reading Science Needs to Rediscover Itself Read more of this blog post »

Michael’s Recent Updates

“If you are reading this Libellus, you are a Dreamer, whether you have recognized this or not. Being a Dreamer carries responsibility, one most people are not willing to accept. Responsibility implies that one cannot blame another person for their actions, effectively avoiding causality. However, this is futile and childish to consider. If you are a Dreamer, you are creating the Waking Dream around you. If your life is good, it is because you have made it so and if it is bad, it is because you have made it so. No one else is responsible for your life other than you.”
Michael Hibbard, Immortal Memories: Volume I

“The moment had come, and the rest of the world fell away from the two of them, a single bubble floating unnoticed on a the wind of time. He had no idea how long it had lasted – ineffably tender, passionate, erotic, romantic and innocent all at once. Everything a kiss should be, but seldom becomes.”
Michael Hibbard, Immortal Memories: Volume I

“Her light was so brilliant it burned my guilty shadow onto the floor, but I was not blinded.”

“I am the keeper of the beast, though all men harbor a beast in the depths of their heart -- callous, calamitous creatures, driven by deviant demands and derisive diligence. -- From the short story What Rough Beast”

“Human nature presents human minds with a puzzle which they have not yet solved and may never succeed in solving, for all that we can tell. The dichotomy of a human being into 'soul' and 'body' is not a datum of experience. No one has ever been, or ever met, a living human soul without a body... Someone who accepts—as I myself do, taking it on trust—the present-day scientific account of the Universe may find it impossible to believe that a living creature, once dead, can come to life again; but, if he did entertain this belief, he would be thinking more 'scientifically' if he thought in the Christian terms of a psychosomatic resurrection than if he thought in the shamanistic terms of a disembodied spirit.”
