Suzanne Evans is a former divorce lawyer and business and sports reporter who holds a Ph.D. in history from UC Berkeley. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Business Journal, and other national publications. She was also a freelance writer for The History Channel website and is the creator of The History Chef, a popular food history blog for parents and kids. She lives in Southern California, with her husband and four young children.


On May 7, 1915, a German submarine torpedoed the British passenger liner RMS Lusitania that was en route from New York City to Liverpool. Attacked without warning, the ship sank in fifteen minutes, killing 1,198 civilians, including 128 Americans.
