Like most reboots, the story is essentially the same but some details are different. I streamlined the narrative, tightened the pacing, closed some plot holes, and also added some scenes that occurred off-stage in the original. It's akin to how the Song of Ice and Fire Characters travel some different paths in HBO's Game of Thrones, but everyone ends up in more or less the same place at crucial plot points.

Rebooting the series has also allowed me to lay a stronger foundation for the third book. I originally intended Vic's story to end with the second book, but a few years ago the plot of the third book came to me--it will center around the consequences of the massacre that occurs near the end of A Wizard's Forge. Please consider joining my mailing list from my website (amjusticeauthor.com) so you can stay up to date on the series! :-)(less)

#SPFBO

I’m three years into my involvement with SPFBO—the Self-Published Fantasy Blog Off fantasy novel competition founded by author Mark Lawrence—and it’s been a rollercoaster. Lows, highs, twists, turns, and loop-de-loops that have all too often left me with a sick stomach and an aching head. Now, as my third go-round comes to a close and the car rolls up alongside the disembarking platform, I’m geari

Full review to come. For now, an emotionally charged, enormously satisfying conclusion to the Madness Wars.
The Nameless And The Fallen by Scott Kaelen
"A compelling sequel to Kaelen's fantastic The Blighted City!

The Nameless and the Fallen is a great sword and sorcery adventure, with a few scifi tweaks. There's a strong Robert Howard vibe to the book, although I've had a hard time trying to articula" Read more of this review »

“I saw you stand,” I said. “Saw your courage, back at Twelve. Saw the steel in your will, the power you command. You say there’s nothing of woman about you? You aren’t some painted vase, delicate and useless. You’re a fucking lioness. The strongest damn thing that ever lived. There’s nothing of you but woman.”
