How do you deal with writer’s block?

Seriously, I've been very lucky to have only experienced writer's block for short…moreI believe writer's block is the reason internet surfing was created! Seriously, I've been very lucky to have only experienced writer's block for short amounts of time. And most of those times were because I was trying to take my story in a direction my characters did not want it to go. They drive my stories. Their voice is the voice in my head.

What to do? For me, I have to step away; focus on another aspect of the process. Maybe I'll work on a book trailer video. Or the cover. Things that keep me involved with my story but allow my brain to take a little break. If that doesn't work, then I "photoshop" pictures of my dog. Seriously, check out my Facebook fan page. He's there. Wearing glasses... a sombrero...a mustache...

But blessedly, the voice comes back. And with it, the plot twist or idea that was missing. And it's brilliant! And I'm so excited to add it that I abandon my next Photoshop project and rewrite that troublesome scene. And then the rest of the story!(less)
