Shield of Beom by Renee Duke
Rate this book
Clear rating
Ms. Duke's Shield of Beom is a very welcome sequel to her terrifically entertaining Side Trip books involving some very plucky teens and kids who look at saving worlds as no big deal. This book is no exception. Lead by the upbeat and likable Meda, ...more

The Darkest Veil by Catherine Cavendish
The Darkest Veil
by Catherine Cavendish (Goodreads Author)
Rate this book
Clear rating
Ho-hum. Yet another fabulously spooky tale from Catherine Cavendish. (Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but her excellence is becoming rather tiresome). While not quite as gothic-laden as many of her previous titles, The Darkest Veil will ...more

Yeehaw! Grab a six-pack, some greasy sliders, your favorite John Deere cap, and maybe a few stakes (not the eatin' kind), and truck on over to read Anderson's Midnight Men: The Supernatural Adventures of Earl and Dale! It's a rootin-tootin' good time ...more

Sins of the Fathers by S. Gepp

S. Gepp's Sins of the Fathers is a well-written horror tale where the past comes back to haunt the protagonists in both supernatural and psychological manners. While there are several spooky moments and set-pieces, the biggest scare, of course, is ...more

And Then He Was Gone
by Joan Hall Hovey (Goodreads Author)
Rate this book
Clear rating
Ms. Hovey's And Then He Was Gone is a very compelling and dark thriller about a woman's husband who goes missing. Not necessarily a "whodunnit," but more of a "whydunnit," and the answer is equally as provocative. Although Hovey's tale details an all ...more

Diamondback by Elizabeth Dearl

Diamondback was the first book I read by author Elizabeth Dearl and it certainly won't be the last. It's a terrifically entertaining murder mystery taking place around a snake festival (it's complicated). Dearl gives us a terrific heroine in mystery ...more

The Playing Card Killer by Russell James
The Playing Card Killer
by Russell James (Goodreads Author)
Rate this book
Clear rating
James' The Playing Card Killer is a very good psychological thriller and horror hybrid. The characters are well delineated, the writing (as always with James) outstanding, and the situation the protagonist is thrust into is a doozy. To give away any ...more
