Katie Lynn Daniels is the self published author of the superhero parody “Supervillain of the Day”; a compact novellas rather than full length novels. Like many of her kind, she is an eccentric with more hobbies than actual qualifications, who takes sadistic pleasure in making her readers cry. She is a fan of the Internet, freedom of information, creative commons, and Neil Gaiman. She is also a professional singer/songwriter/harpist, and performs regularly at the Scottish Highland Games, using the opportunity to break every genre convention in music performance. She has two short films in post production, and lives on a dairy farm in Kentucky with her parents and eight younger siblings.

Most of what I know I learned from Jordan Smith over at fixmystory.com, who happens to be a personal friend and likes using me for a guinea pig. My strategy tends to resemble a kitten in a pond. I can swim, but I don't like it, and it's not likely to be pretty.

That said--I like networking with people. I think that reaching out and helping other people is an excellent strategy to apply to any situation. Obviously being visible around the web is also important, both by having a professional looking website, and a Twitter and Facebook that you keep updated.

The brutal truth is that very few authors, even successful ones, can actually afford to quit their day-job and go full time. It's often wise to have a back-up career that you love as well to supplement your writing efforts. Another important thing to remember is that building a market takes time. Slow and steady wins the race, and popularity doesn't arrive overnight.

Thanks for your interest! I wish you the best in your endeavours. (less)
