Other times, I will switch to research and reading up material related to the scene and brainstorm ideas, until the idea coalesces.

Sometimes I'll sleep on it and the problem will resolve in the morning. But perhaps the best way to cure writer's block is to WRITE! Just write a crappy scene and move on to writing the next scene. You can then go back and re-write the crappy scene better because you will have more knowledge about the story progression. (less)

Baptized in Love - a short story

The light was hurting my eyes so I drew the blinds – enough to block out the sun, yet still provide a street-level view.

As I sat in the half-gloom of the donut shop sipping my coffee, the table behind me with a Salvation Army devotional and a duffle bag on the floor beside it left unattended, I couldn’t help but notice the big man with the big beard sitting in quiet meditation in the booth besid Read more of this blog post »

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
