Writing Update

The next book in my Firsts and Forever Stories is in the home stretch! It's called Every Saturday Night, and I plan to release it in late July, as long as my life doesn't implode between now and then. 

The main character is Lark's brother Logan, a young single dad who moved in with the pink Victorian crew at the end of my last book, which was titled Lark. I'll have more information soon, including a cover reveal and release date.  Stay tuned!

The fifth book in my Firsts and Forever Stories is simply titled Lark, for the dynamic supporting character in Bad Ideas who captured my heart and demanded I tell his story. One of my very favorite tropes is opposites attract, and it doesn't get much more opposite than widowed firefighter Dylan Hawkins and carefree cam boy Larkin Genardi. Writing their story was pure joy, and I can't wait until it's in your hands!

Checking In

 Well, it's certainly been a minute since I last updated my blog, and for that I apologize. January and most of February were rough months, health-wise, but I'm now slowly getting back on track. 

I'm happy to report I'm making good progress on Lark's book. We met him in my most recent release, Bad Ideas. He was Casey the main character's roommate, and he's been a joy to write! He's a 26-year-old cam boy who's very sweet, a little naive, and just so lovable.

For his love interest, I dipped way back into my original Firsts and Forever Series and brought a minor character forward. Some of my readers might remember a widowed firefighter named Dylan, who had a small role in River's book, All I Ever Wanted. He'd remained in the back of my mind, and years later I finally found the perfect partner for him.

The working title of this book is Cam Boy, and I'm shooting for an early April release as long as my health cooperates. An exact release date and a cover reveal will be coming up in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Nine Years!

Today is my nine-year publishing anniversary! On December 20th, 2012 I took a deep breath and released a book called Way Off Plan into the world. Friends, I had NO idea what I was doing. All I knew was that I had a story I wanted to tell, so I found a stock photo for the cover, read some tutorials about how to publish on Amazon, and went for it. There was no "marketing strategy." Hell, there was no marketing at all! But somehow, readers found it and asked for more.

Nine years later, I'm still publishing books in the Firsts and Forever universe, and those characters feel like family. Honestly, I still feel like I barely know what I'm doing as far as the whole "business" of publishing goes! But writing has remained an absolute joy, and with every new book, I'm so excited to bring the characters to life and to tell their tale.
I've published 35 books so far and will feel so very fortunate if I get to publish another 35! Some of you have been a part of this journey from the very beginning. Others have only recently discovered my books. But whether you've been reading my books for nine years or nine minutes, I'm so grateful for you! My readers mean absolutely everything to me, so I say this from the bottom of my heart--thank you. <3
Here's a look at the way the cover of my first published book has evolved over the years. I did actually like that first stock photo, but it ended up on approximately elevendy billion MM books so it had to go. Plus, I realized at some point I absolutely loved portraits on my covers. When I went to freshen it up recently, I stuck with the same model because he'd become Jamie to me.

A Look Back at 2021

I’m proud of the work I produced in 2021. Despite grappling with some ongoing health issues, I managed to publish five books and one audiobook, making it the most productive year I’ve had since I began in December of 2012.  

I’d actually forgotten that Fate came out this year! That feels like a really long time ago. It was fun to return to the paranormal world I’d created in my California Obscura Series.

 

After that, I got the idea to revisit the world of my Firsts and Forever Series—not by adding on to the existing series, but by writing character-driven standalones set in that same universe. I called them Firsts and Forever Stories, and they’ve been such a joy to write! My latest is coming out this Saturday. Bad Ideas is a sexy enemies to lovers story about a doctor and nurse who totally get on each other’s nerves, but who find they can’t stay away from each other after a hook-up at a holiday party.

 

My plan for 2022 is to continue these lighthearted Firsts and Forever Stories, beginning with a book called Cam Boy. You’ll get an introduction to the irrepressible main character, Lark, in Bad Ideas. He tried really hard to hijack the last book, and I can’t wait to let him run amok in a book of his own!
