After many years in public relations, advertising, and marketing, Blythe Gifford started writing seriously after a corporate layoff. Ten years and one layoff later, she became an overnight success when she sold her Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist manuscript to Harlequin.
She has since written medieval romances featuring characters born on the wrong side of the royal blanket. Now, she’s launching a new series set on the turbulent Scottish Borders.
The Chicago Tribune has called her work “the perfect balance between history and romance.”

I can't give you a guaranteed solution, but here are a couple of thoughts.
When I seem blocked, it is often because I am thinking of what I "should" write: more, better, more commercial, sexier, anything other than what I am drawn to put on the page. So start by thinking of what you want to write, not what you should write.
It also helps me to think of writing as play, not work. I can play with a story or an idea and that takes the pressure off. Or another word is practice. This is not the real writing, I'm just doing scales, as a musician might. Anything that will get words flowing.
Finally, when the words all seem wrong, I remember that I have to write badly before I can write well. For me, all writing is, eventually, rewriting. It won't be right the first time.
I can recommend Julia Cameron's book THE ARTIST'S WAY if you want a creative companion to help you on your journey. Her method is a wonderful way to overcome creative blocks of all kinds. Best of luck! (less)

“I like grit, I like love and death, I'm tired of irony. ... A lot of good fiction is sentimental. ... The novelist who refuses sentiment refuses the full spectrum of human behavior, and then he just dries up. ... I would rather give full vent to all human loves and disappointments, and take a chance on being corny, than die a smartass.”
