I hear voices all day long. In my car, when I’m cooking, even as I’m drifting off to sleep.

No, I’m not crazy. But I am a little obsessed.

In The Valley Of The Shadow

I remember the first time I memorized Psalm 23. I was in kindergarten with Mrs. Shields, the female equivalent of Mr. Rogers if you can imagine it. Our school room was excessively colorful. Blues and yellows filled the walls. A large green poster sat behind the teacher. Reds and oranges hung from the ceiling.

2017 Report: Books Sold, Lessons Learned, Future Projects

Link to 2016 report here: http://www.ramosauthor.com/blog/2016-report

Two thousand and seventeen will certainly be a year to remember. It was my first year out of seminary and able to work full-time in a college environment. It was the year I founded my business (Faithspring Collective ltd.) and the year I completed a Certificate of Theology from Princeton. It was also another year I got to spend with my amazing wife, and watch as she continued to grow into a proud woman.

I am not where I thoug...

Best 7 Books of 2017

2017 was a year of implementation. For the past 5 years or so, I read an average of 1 book a week. I wanted to get better, to know more, and become the person God was calling me to be. I know I am closer than I was a year ago, and these 7 books played a large part in helping me get there.

In all, I read just over 40 books this year – but these were the ones that stood out. All of these have carved out a special place in my mind and heart, and I hope they might be able to do the same for you.

This summer (2017) I began using the software MeetEdgar to help me streamline some of my social media marketing, and allow me more time to dedicate to Faithspring. When I joined the software I had three main goals:

Goal #1: Increase Traffic to Main Website

The Side-Hustle Formula: How Much Money Do You Actually Need To Make The Leap

I’ve been searching online a lot lately for a clear, simple formula for how much money I will need to leave my day job and pursue my “side-hustle” full time.

Some of the pieces of advice I’ve seen are

When all of your expenses are coveredWhen your side hustle is making exactly half of what you make from your day jobWhen it replaces your full income + 6 month emergency fundNever (just keep both!)

Useful Sources: One  Two  Three  Four

My goal with publishing, and now online teaching (at Faithspring...

Summer 2017 Updates

Hello!

It's been a little while since I did an update post. Here are a few things I've been wanting to share with you all:

New Free Book 5 Questions that create clarity.jpg

I've created a special gift for Faithspring visitors, "5 Questions That Create Clarity." This short book was a passion project of mine. These were very much questions I have been asking myself for the past few years, and even more so as I've been building the Faithspring community. You can grab a copy here: http://www.faithspring.org/questions-clarity/

How To Choose A Verse For The Year (Framework Included)

In 2010, I began the practice of choosing 1 passage for the year and studying it in-depth for personal and spiritual growth. This has easily been one of the most transformative practices I’ve adopted. It’s helped my Bible-memorization, study habits, and ability to think Biblically about real-life situations. Below is a behind the scenes look at the practice, as well as a guide for you to begin it as well!

What Is A Verse For The Year And What Do You Do With It?

First of all, it’s exactly what...

Post-Its On A Picasso: How Jesus Reveals Our Worth

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add,
but when there is nothing left to take away.
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

What have you done in the last 3 years to increase your value?

Your value in the marketplace, to your family, to yourself?

Maybe you went to school and finished up a degree. Maybe you got a new job, moved to a new city, or dedicated more time to volunteering at church.

For some clarification, here’s the definition of this kind of value:
