Hey, it only took me 30 years from the starting block to getting my first novel published, and I'm hopeful that it would be a lot quicker to get my sequel out -- a possibility because I've done most of my research -- meticulous research because I care to be accurate with my historical setting.

I love historical fiction because I'd like to "kill two birds with a stone" -- enjoy the story/characters, while I also learn a little more about history of the times.
Naturally I wanted my novel to be a book I'd want to read!

Synopsis of "A Family of Strangers" (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Mar 29, 2010 04:33PM
Description: Kate O'Neal is shipped out in 1793 to Botany Bay to serve her 7-year sentence for castrating her employer's son who had raped and brutalised her. No doubt her employer expects her to die after suffering deprivations and great hardship as many convicts before her did -- whether in the harsh new penal colony that will become known as Australia, or on the year-long voyage to get there. As a 15-year-old and a convict without family or protector, and especially without funds of her own, Kate would surely perish and not heard of again. But Kate is young, not stupid. She is practical too. She gathers around her new friends whom she eventually sees as her "family". With this family as the core of her support, Kate battles the odds to forge a new life for herself and her new family.

Carole Hi Sanchona,
Just looking in to say Hello --- nice to see your face among my friends. I'm still trying to find my way around this site.

I wanted tp put up the newly publicised book Wind From Danyari by Laurel Lamperd,as being my next to read, but I can't find it anywhere. I've tried the 'create a book' giving all the details, but nothing is coming up yet. Maybe it has to be out for a set time before it filters through to Goodreads.
