With a sword swallower as a father and a repentant chanteuse for a mother, it's no wonder Carolyn Burns Bass became a writer.

Carolyn has written nonfiction for magazines for more years than she cares to admit. She has published short fiction in several literary journals. Her short story "Sketches Past and Present" was a finalist for the Eric Hoffer prize for fiction and is featured in the 2013 Best New Writing anthology published by Hopewell.

The Bronte sisters have always fascinated Carolyn. When Blue River Press asked if she would be interested in writing a middle grade biography of the famous literary sisters, she jumped on it. ALL ABOUT THE BRONTE SISTERS will be available at bookstores and online book sites beginning November 2, 2020.

Carolyn Bass liked an answer about The Taste of Ginger:
The Taste of Ginger by Mansi Shah
The way I took it, the mother had a previous engagement that fell through and there was a bit of a stigma regarding it. Her family wasn't top of the upper crust and having an engagement that fell though wasn't something that happened in their communi See Michelle’s answer.
Carolyn Bass asked a question about The Taste of Ginger:
The Taste of Ginger by Mansi Shah
Just finished reading THE TASTE OF GINGER and wondering if I missed the reason why Preeti's family moved to the USA. They had all of the advantages of a respectable, upper-caste life. Did I miss a scandal or some other reason why Preeti's parents uprooted their cushy lifestyle only to suffer in the USA?

Carolyn Bass and 2 other people liked Barb's review of Competitive Grieving:
Competitive Grieving by Nora Zelevansky
"Listened for an hour and a half. Not engaging, not funny; lacked depth, insight and emotion. A lot of words... But no joy for me. Moving on."

Competitive Grieving by Nora Zelevansky
"I really have no clue what to say about this book. It was a difficult book for me to get through, and unfortunately, I guessed the twist early on.

I was not too fond of all of the characters ( even the MC Wren), even at the end when things became clea" Read more of this review »
