Bruce’s Standalone Shop
My wife kicked me out of the garage so we purchased another home with a larger lot and I built my 2-story 800 square foot shop. The first floor has most of my non portable tools and wood storage. My Second floor has my library, duct collection, scroll saw and my mortise machine. I also store the items I will be selling at Christmas time.
The shop is heated in the winter with a pellet stove and in the summer cooled down with a 12000 btu ac unit.

Chad’s G & G Grandfather Clock
This is the final project that my Father and I will get to do together. Dad has Parkinson’s and is not able to do woodworking any longer. We built this clock not long after I took a class at the William Ng school with Marc. Greene and Greene was the focus of the class. The Grandfather Clock was presented to my oldest sister for a Christmas gift. It was a big hit!

Paul’s Assembly/Downdraft Table
I based this table on Marc’s Torsion Box Assembly Table. I modified it to include a downdraft sanding area and I added t-track to the assembly end. The base is construction 2×8’s and 4×4’s milled and stained with black deck stain. I store my clamps under the table. The wheels are used to move it around. It has adjustable height so I can use it as an outfeed table or raise it for a more comfortable assembly height. I use a hydraulic lift table to raise and lower it and hold it in place with bolts through the legs.

Mini-Mite 4 Platinum Series T75G Model with the new Nylon Cup Launching July 1st! With the Mini-Mite PLATINUM™ Series you can spray cabinets, furniture, autos or pianos – in fact, anything wood or metal. It’s a powerful, portable system for all fine-finishing. The PLATINUM series is built with the Fuji Spray Heat Dissipation Box and has the unique design of removing any heat buildup from the Turbine case. Excess heat is channeled to a Heat Dissipation Box located at the rear of the case. Because the hot air is dissipated evenly through an optimum surface area with 60 holes, there is no added hiss or loud whistling noise. There is also no blowing around of dust. The benefits of a cooler running unit results in a longer life for your Turbine motor compared to standard Turbines. The Mini-Mite™ PLATINUM Turbines are equipped with a method to reduce noise. The Noise Reduction Covers™ house the Filters. Ambient air is entrained only from the rear effectively removing any Direct Sound Paths. Air is drawn in through a large Rear Aperture and through specially designed ‘Finger Slots’ for optimum performance. In addition the new Nylon Cup is standard on the T75G.

Daniel’s Carved End Table
Inspired by the sculpted end table video series, I wanted to make something similar with a “floating” top. The legs are bloodwood, which was a challenge to carve, but not so bad with sharp tools. After cutting and flush trimming, a spokeshave and a rasp were used to define the shape. Top is dyed curly maple and attached to the apron center via a 1.25″ brass rod.

Ashley’s Pub Table
My step-daughter wanted a pub table for her new house so we went to the hardwood store looking for wood. We found a nice piece of sapele for the table top and more for the legs. I had to keep her away from $2000 slabs in the back of the store.
This was my first major project with mortise and tenon joints. We set up the mortiser as outlined in TWW’s Video which produced excellent results. I did the mortises and Ashley cut the tenons on the table saw with tenon jog.
We used several coats of polyurethane to protect the table and brass inlay from the “Neanderthal Guys” (her husband’s friends) who show up at Ashley’s place. The results were great and we enjoyed working together on the table.

Chris’ Planned Garage Workshop
This is my 360 sq ft 2-car garage workshop. I have all of my tools, and will need to build some shop furniture. This is my current working plan, but I’d love to hear some ideas on it. I want to be able to park a car inside when not in use and am willing to sacrifice workflow convenience to do so. The power tool bench is my original design. Each tool rests on a 2×2 wood sheet which can be slid into the bench so the tool’s deck sits flush with the bench top. Clamps are mounted on a sliding door that hides my electric hot water tank. I built a loft area to house my pancake compressor (as well as camping gear and other garage items). Air line and electric are run from the ceiling on retractable reels. I used Ikea kitchen cabinets on the back wall and a live edge cedar slab as my counter top. A really basic drafting desk and paint cabinet finish off the back wall. The Radial arm/cross cut station (which I call the aircraft carrier because of is size) houses board foot lumber on the front, cutoffs on the end, sheet goods in the center, and has a combination panel saw/ panel clamp press on the back side.
The biggest challenge so far has been the dust collection system. I tried to keep the lines as short and straight as possible. The plan currently calls for 4″ PVC waste pipe–not sure if I should go up to 6″ on my 1-1/2HP Grizzly cyclone. Love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

Jon’s Coffee Scoop
I had a need for a long-handled coffee scoop and after failed attempts to find one in the store, I thought why not build one. The advantage to making something yourself is you can design it to fit your needs and make it exactly like you want it. I am very new to wood working but this project has really inspired me to learn more and expand into other projects. I am very limited on tools. I clamped my jig saw upside down to my work bench to make my top and side view cuts. From there I used my dremel tool, and a lot of hand sanding to get the finished product. I used all-natural walnut oil for the finish.
Since I made this spoon, I have made a few more spoons and just made an end grain cutting board. I want to say thanks to the Wood Whisperer for all the videos and helpful information!

How Do You Like Your Woodworking Videos?
The world of online woodworking has changed a great deal in the last decade. I recall in the first episode of The Wood Whisperer where I stated one of my primary reasons for starting an online video series: because there just weren’t any options for woodworking education and entertainment at the time. That couldn’t be further from the truth today! People from all over the world are now sharing their woodworking through online video. From the brand new hobbyists to highly skilled and experienced professionals, all kinds of craftspeople are making content for the masses to enjoy.
Along with the variety of people comes and equally variable selection of editing styles. Some videos are incredibly fast-paced with no instruction. At best they inspire you without taking up much of your time. At worst they leave you feeling like you just got off a roller coaster and didn’t learn a thing. Some videos are incredibly slow and detailed. At best they teach you intricate details you need to know to become a better woodworker. At worst they bore the heck out of you and waste your time.
So what’s your preference?
