Books and writing have always been an enormous part of my life. I survived school by hiding out in the library, with several thousand fictional characters for company. At university, I overcame the boredom of studying accountancy by squeezing in Egyptology papers and learning to read hieroglyphics.

I write gaslamp and fantasy historical novels from my home in rural New Zealand.

More books by A.W. Exley…

I can’t believe its December already! This year I released 3 books which is a record for me and it’s certainly been a roller coast ride. I poured a lot of time and energy into Dawn’s Promise hoping that readers would enjoy something different from me and a new world that would support several new books. Alas things didn’t turn out that way and such is life. I will conclude the trilogy next year...

“Are we immortal?" he paused in his exploration of her skin.

Mischief shone in her eyes. "Want me to shoot you and find out?”
A.W. Exley, Nefertiti's Heart

“do you tell if someone is immortal?” she whispered. “You kill them, and see if they get up again,” he answered, always pragmatic.”

“Well, look what the scamp has dragged home with her. Pirates, henchmen and naughty, naughty men—"

A soft whack noise was followed by a startled squawk, as a tea towel hit Nessy in the face. She pulled the cloth down, shooting daggers at her lifetime companion.

"What was that for?"

Nan tapped her chin. "You're drooling dear, might want to mop up a bit.”

My pleasure! I understand, authors here are in a tough spot, especially when wanting to discuss books.

BTW, just finished "Nero's Fiddle" and really liked it, looking forward to more!

A.W. Exley Thank you Auntie J that means a lot to me :)

Honestly if I had the choice, I would be on GR as a reader NOT an author and I hate that they divide us into groups. I'm a prolific reader and enjoy discussing books I have loved (or not!) but I always keep in mind in any interaction that GR have pegged me as an author and often sit on my hands so I don't offend others.

Hi Jess, thank you so much for letting me know you enjoyed Nefertiti's Heart and that's fabulous to hear I managed to exceed your expectations! I love writing Cara and Nate, I think her mischievous streak is the perfect foil to his serious side :)

Jess I was introduced to your book, Nefertiti's Heart through bookbub a few months ago. I have to admit that I usually don't expect much out of the cheaper kindle books that I find that way, but wow! Nefertiti's heart blew me out of the water! The chemistry between Cara and Nate is electric. I've read it twice since I purchased it, and I can't wait to read more of your work. I hope you keep writing steampunk- the genre could use more talented writers like yourself! I'll be recommending you to all of my friends!

Yes I'm keen, you had me at *stay home*. Send me the details :)

Dayanara Ryelle Hello my dear! Hopefully spring is loving you.

No, wait...you're in Kiwiville. How's fall coming along? *giggle*

Anyway, how would you feel about participating in a "blog tour", where all you have to do is "stay home", answer four questions about your writing process and tag three other people?

I hope you enjoy it. Cara tends to shoot first and ask questions later :)

Lucinda Dear A.W,
Thank you so much for being my friend here on Goodreads! It is lovely to meet another horse rider, who is similarly to myself a fan of both sci-fi and fantasy as well as historical fiction! I do hope to have the chance of reading your work, as it is something that has caught my eye - wondering if you had copies for review?
Thank you once again and i look forward to future book discussions.
Kind Regards
Lucinda x
