Timothy Patrick Hinkle is always singing and/or humming and/or strumming. It may be a tune you've heard before or it might be one they just made up. They've been doing it for quite a long time now. Tim has even been heard suggesting that they may have been paid to do so at some point, though usually they are simply walking down the street or riding on the bus and unable, or perhaps unwilling, to stop.

Their restful spirit has been haunting a public library for much of the last couple of decades. Their body is often there as well, though not always at the same time.

Tim is an occasional competitor on SongFight.org.

They recorded an audiobook in 2012; it was an awful lot of work. They were very happy that the publisher didn't object to the littl

I've got a new Christmas EP coming out in a week. It's called Ring the Fuller Minstrel In. Here's a lyric video of the first track, my take on the Tennyson poem "Ring Out, Wild Bells":

I also did a couple of covers for the bonus round of SpinTunes 18 and submitted a hastily-recorded song to the "It Wasn't My Good Fortune" Song Fight.

Just Ignore Him by Alan Davies
“I don't see the point of leukaemia. Some diseases are using you as the host for a time and then they transfer to someone else, they survive that way, those pathogens, airborne or waterborne, jumping from person to person or cow to cow or rabbit to rabbit. But leukaemia just sets up a malfunction in you that you can't survive. Nothing grows or thrives except tiny cell-size tumours inside your bones. No one knows what causes it. It's a genetic mutation that occurs when you're making jam or putting your kids in the bath. The advice is: don't smoke and eat more vegetables. That's the best they can offer, even now in 2020, never mind 1972. My mother did not smoke and was in the greengrocer's almost daily. What a pointless thing it is. And people say they don't understand why there are wasps.”

The Gone and the Forgotten by Clare Whitfield
“Prue had begged for change to come but now she knew that change doesn't tap you on the shoulder and give you polite notice—it hits you in the face with a closed fist and laughs as you bleed.”

Lemony Snicket
“Telling yourself that something does not matter is one of the loneliest things you can do, because you only say it, of course, about things that matter very much. But often, and this is the lonely part, they only matter to you.”
Lemony Snicket, Poison for Breakfast

Ursula Vernon
“There is something about a bathroom that feels like a fortress. A closed bathroom door may only be about two inches of plywood, but it feels like an iron bar.”
Ursula Vernon, Castle Hangnail

Arundhati Roy
“The sky was thick with TV. If you wore special glasses you could see them spinning through the sky among the bats and homing birds—blondes, wars, famines, football, food shows, coups d'état, hairstyles stiff with hair spray. Designer pectorals. Gliding towards Ayemenem like skydivers. Making patterns in the sky. Wheels. Windmills. Flowers blooming and unblooming.”
Arundhati Roy, The God of Small Things

T.H. White
“Life is such unutterable hell, solely because it is sometimes beautiful. If we could only be miserable all the time, if there could be no such things as love or beauty or faith or hope, if I could be absolutely certain that my love would never be returned: how much more simple life would be. One could plod through the Siberian salt mines of existence without being bothered about happiness. Unfortunately the happiness is there. There is always the chance (about eight hundred and fifty to one) that another heart will come to mine. I can't help hoping, and keeping faith, and loving beauty. Quite frequently I am not so miserable as it would be wise to be.”
T.H. White, Ghostly, Grim and Gruesome

Terry Pratchett
“All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"

MY POINT EXACTLY.”
Terry Pratchett, Hogfather
