Vote for my cover art!

I’m finishing the short story about Captain Lewis’, a prequel to Dreams of the Queen, and I’ve whipped up some simple covers. I know, these aren't the most amazing book covers in the world, but since I’m going to be listing the story for free, I really can’t afford to spend a few hundred dollars on a cover artist. So this is my digital art. Considering that I’ve only started learning photoshop this year, I think I’m doing decently. It helps that I’ve been a self-taught color pencil artist for most of my life, so I have a eye for color, design and balance all of which transfer between media. Unfortunately, photoshop has a steep learning curve, yikes!

Okie-dokie… So I’d like y’alls opinions. Which one catches your eye? Which one do you like the most? I need some quick answers because I’m going to be uploading next week.

You can either leave a comment here or use this link to go to my blog and vote on the official poll.

Amazon extended my sale of Dreams of the Queen

Cause they like to do things like that even though I've raised the price back to its normal $2.99.

They might end it any day, so grab your $.99 Ebook copy now while the grabbing is good!

Jennifer Aniston speaks out.

"We're living in a time where, whether it's the Internet or tabloids, being sh--ty has become a sport. We're just grown-up bullies. We literally could not need to have our hearts more open in these times."

NetGalley Rocks!

So I finally up and joined NetGalley last month and apparently they like me and my reviews because they've approved all my requests (except one so far) and I've gotten 3 invitations. All in the first month. Woohoo!

So I've been on a reading kick, which tends to put a damper on my writing... *sigh* but hey,

Free books!

Reading!

Awesomeness!

I suppose it helps that my Klout score is a good 50 last I checked. Social media sucking my life and writing time away, away, away...

Winners of the Poster/Author Tagline Contest

Okay... so here's the result of the poster/author tagline contest. There were some great entries, but no one entry fit just right. Funny thing is three people wrote taglines with a key word that my family and I agreed really worked and a fourth person wrote a tagline without that key word, but that kept pulling at my inspiration. So I mashed all of them together, let it all marinate, ran it past my family a few times... and voila:

Jacqueline Patricks: Expect the Unexpected!

Which means I have four posters to award to: Mary Roya, Autumn, Veronica Smith and Michaela Trott!

Thanks so much for your entries, and even though I didn't end up using any specific one, your ideas and viewpoints really helped spark my writing since it's difficult for anyone to be truly objective about themselves or their work.

Congratulations! You can either message me with your address or email me at jacquelinepatricks@gmail.com, which ever you prefer, and I'll get it mailed out in the next week.

Author brand tagline contest!

So I need a bit of help. I'm trying to come up with an author brand tagline relating to "Passionate Sci-fi, Fantasy and Speculative Fiction" but I'd like objective options from people who've read my work. How did it make YOU feel? I know a bestseller has one like "She'll keep you up all night..." It has to be easy to remember, catchy and relating the first above tagline.

Here's the plan... I'm taking all suggestions and the one that works/I like the best (and gets the thumbs up from my family and best friend--lol quality control is important right?) wins one of the 'Dreams of the Queen' posters from Comicpalooza. I have a few left. They're 2'x3' movie quality vinyl, glossy. They're NICE! Retails for over $30!!!! And the winner gets one for FREE!!!!! INCLUDING SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!!!

This goes until June 15 and you can entry multiple times, so keep those ideas coming!

How's that for a contest? Hmmm?
