About our 31-factor editorial review processHow does Residual Payments help you make money?
David and Patricia apparently teach you how to become an online payment processor (or digital payment agent). Famous payment processors you may have heard of include Stripe and PayPal.
Residual Payments is all about doing the same thing as those companies, but on a smaller scale.
As Patricia explained on the Smart Passive Income podcast…
We’re teaching people how to set up and become brokers. So basically having their own micropayment agency, which means you right now tomorrow could go out, take the course, take the program, and then immediately turn to anyone that you know, that has a business, including yourself, and actually board the account and make residual income off. People just didn’t realize that there’s somebody in between.
Listen to the full podcast interview here for more info…
How much does Residual Payments cost? The listed price for The Digital Payments Revolution – which is the first step of a huge funnel – costs just $1.
However, many people claim that this will lead you into a sales pitch with the Carlins. Depending on what they manage to sell you, this may cost around $5000, if not more.
Residual Payments Discount?I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. There’s no place to enter a discount code on the Residual Payments checkout.
Sorry guys: it’s the whole dollar or nothing.
Refund PolicyThere is a 30-day “no questions asked” refund policy for The Digital Payments Revolution. That is just for the $1 part of the course.
We couldn’t find any certified info about upsell refunds, leading us to believe that all upsell sales are final.

About our 31-factor editorial review processHow does PublishingLife help you make money?
Rasmus and Christian’s course aims to teach you how to make money on Amazon by creating and selling various kinds of books. But the emphasis mostly seems to be on creating audiobooks for Audible by Amazon.
You’d sell the product directly to the customer, usually for a one-time fee.
Learn more about digital productsHow much does PublishingLife cost? The listed price of Mikkelsen Twins’ course is $1,995. You can also pay in three installments of $999.

PublishingLife Discount?I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for PublishingLife, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere.
Sorry guys: it’s full-price or nothing.
Refund PolicyThe refund policy for PublishingLife is quite complicated.
According to the terms of service listed on the PublishingLife website, there are three conditions for the course’s money-back guarantee:
You must list an audiobook on Audible that’s at least two hours long. You must get at least 50 reviews for your book on both Amazon and Audible. You must attend two 1-on-1 coaching calls. To be eligible for a refund, you need to meet these criteria within 180 days of buying the course.
According to the same website, you’re also ineligible for a refund for any reason that has nothing to do with the above criteria. Some of these are:
You changed your mindYou lost motivationYou have an emergency family situationYou have unexpected health or financial issuesIf you received the $500 cash bonus and you get a refund, you’ll get $500 less. That’s $1495 if you paid in one go, or $2497 if you paid in installments.
Given all that, I’m inclined to believe it’s quite difficult to get a refund on your purchase of PublishingLife

However, Omar joined lots of online communities that year and “started receiving requests to write, optimize and translate product descriptions for Shopify (Dropshippers) and Amazon sellers.”

Blog Growth EngineWe’ve just published a review of Adam Enfroy’s course: Blog Growth Engine.
Armed with access to the training and feedback from 20 students, I’m confident we nailed the rating
One student referred to BGE as “a huge deconstruction of Adam Enfroy’s personal use case,” and that’s a good way of putting it. It’s basically Adam showing you exactly what he did to grow his personal blog to $100,000+ per month in only 2 years.
It’s also got something I haven’t seen from other blogging or affiliate marketing courses: an entire module on how to sell your skills as a freelancer.
I like that because it can take a long time to earn a good income from your own blog, but you can be earning plenty along the way by freelancing the skills you’re learning
Anyway, check out our full review of BGE here.

I’ve yet to find any further discount for the One Funnel Away Challenge, but I don’t think it can go any lower than this.
Refund PolicyThe sales page for One Funnel Away Challenge specifies a 30-day money-back guarantee…
Oh, and if for some crazy reason you don’t love the challenge – Email us and we’ll refund your $100.
I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase, so you can rest easy with this guarantee.

$10K/Month Pitch Deck Templates$500,000 Revenue By Age 221 Year to $14,000 Monthly Profit$7000/Month Cambodia Design AgencyHis Niche Site Earns $800K/Year$90K/Month Wordle WebsiteFirst $5K Month as a SolopreneurJune Finance ReportThis Will Make You More Money$10K/Month Pitch Deck TemplatesMaximilian Fleitmann writes about buying BaseTemplates in 2019 and growing it to $10,000 per month in revenue (some months as much as $25,000)
The site sells “handmade pitch deck & fundraising templates” for startups and entrepreneurs.
The templates are simple digital products that sell for $29 to $99 a pop. Max also sells a related online course for $179 and a bundle of all products for $249.
Max initially struggled to grow the business but says everything changed with this launch on ProductHunt a couple of years back
What kind of templates have you used in the past? What templates do you wish existed? Could something you’ve created in the past be packaged and sold as a template?
$500,000 Revenue By Age 22Some dude named Mateo Price recently sold the YouTube analytics company that he started in college.
The sales price is undisclosed, but at the time of sale – just a year after Mateo had graduated – the company had apparently pulled in $500K in revenue while helping YouTubers like Ali Abdaal and AJ Lapray “generate more than $6 billion in revenue”
I love the origin story of the business…
Price sent a cold outreach email to Jesser, a YouTuber he followed who’s known for basketball and challenge videos, and offered to help him increase his engagement and brand awareness. Price didn’t have formal experience in this space… but he knew social media and understood Jesser’s audience.
So basically Mateo reached out to a content creator he liked, offered to help grow his audience, figured out how to do just that, then leveraged that success to land more clients.
But as detailed in another article, it wasn’t quite that easy: Mateo had to follow up with Jesser a couple of times before getting a response, and worked for free initially to prove himself
Dashiell Bark-Huss writes about building Wish Tender, “a universal wishlist and gift registry platform, specially designed for influencers and public personalities.”
Dash is a self-taught coder and it took her a year to code Wish Tender, then another year to get it to $14K/month profit
That sounds fast, but in the day-to-day of working on a business, progress often feels slow…
In the beginning, progress was slow. I almost quit several times thinking WishTender was a bad idea. But it really just needed more time. So I’m glad I found the patience to give WishTender a chance. This is the most money I’ve ever made. It’s so bizarre to go from being a wantrepreneur to an entrepreneur because part of me never thought I could do it.
Dash considers Wish Tender to be her first project, but just for fun she had previously coded up a way to send a text message with her eye movements (seriously)

$7000/Month Cambodia Design AgencyVathana Nguon is a self-taught WordPress developer from Cambodia
who has grown his Anachak Design agency to $7000/month.
(Btw, the average salary in Cambodia is less than $1000/month.)
Vathana tells Starter Story that he learned web development online after high school, gradually built his freelance business, and eventually evolved into an agency.
Focusing on a specific niche
has been key for Vathana…
I wouldn’t be successful if I targeted everyone who needs a website… While every other web designer offered website design to everyone who needed one, I only worked on the tourism marke… I’ve earned a reputation as the go-to guy for tourism business branding and websites, which is exactly what I want to do to stand out in a crowded industry.

His Niche Site Earns $800K/YearHe is Matt Giovanisci and the site is Swim University
Matt opened up an AMA on Twitter earlier this week.
His reply to what he’d do differently if he were starting the business from scratch today…
I wish I would have focused on writing better posts instead of spending time building backlinks in the early days. It was a wasted effort.
I wish I would have sold my own products earlier. And been consistent with my YT effort since I started it in 2013.
Matt now considers monetizing with affiliates and display ads “child’s play.” He wrote more about that a few months back: Death to Affiliate Marketing
That’s WordPlay.com
The first version was built and launched in a weekend last February by Dharmesh Shah.
Dharmesh revealed on a recent episode of the My First Million podcast that 9.5 million people have visited the site so far. SimilarWeb estimates 1.8 million total visits in the last month alone.
He put Google Adsense on it for a while and the earnings worked out to $90,000 per month.
Then Dharmesh took the ads off because he so happens to be the billionaire co-founder of Hubspot and $90K/month was irrelevant to him
After hearing Dharmesh’s story I got curious about Wordle in other languages and looked up the top sites for…
Spanish – wordle.danielfrg.com – 30.6M visitsGerman – wordle.at – 5.4M visitsFrench – wordle.louan.me – 2.4M visitsSo each of those are apparently getting more traffic than Dharmesh’s site, and could all be earning more than $90K/month just from display ads.
First $5k Month as a SolopreneurMoncef Belyamani quit his job in October last year. In May, he announced that he crossed the $5000/month mark as a solopreneur for the first time
Currently, I have two sources of income: Ruby on Mac, and a 2-year fixed-price contract for maintaining a Rails application. I only get $1050/month from the latter, so the bulk of my income is from Ruby on Mac.
Ruby on Mac makes it easy to set up the Ruby programming environment on Mac.
Moncef writes about the tweaks he’s made to his sales page to improve conversions, and has tweeted that customers find him “mostly due to SEO.”

(Check out the slick demo of the app on the landing page.)
Alyssa had the idea for the product at the end of January, built and launched it over the next two months, and by March 21st had earned $6600 in revenue
What I love most about Alyssa’s story is that she figured out a ton while building and marketing the product. For example, she learned that “using Swift in Xcode was the best option” for building the app, so she went and learned that on the fly.
When it came to marketing, she saw another maker had success on Reddit so she created an account and gave that a try.
Alyssa has over 6,000 upvotes across her 8 launches on ProductHunt, but it looks like few have been as financially successful as Later. Still, it’s clear that she greatly expands her experience and skillset with every product she builds, making each subsequent launch more and more likely to succeed

1-Minute Strategies To Boost SalesJosh Spector lists ten of them
My favorite is the 9-word email…
Send an email to previous leads that says:
“Are you still looking to ____?”
It re-starts a conversation.
If you’re a freelancer, set a reminder to do this with previous clients every few months. Or prospective clients that faded away a while back.
(Btw, lots of gold in Josh’s newsletter, one of my faves. Subscribe here.)
0 to $325K Revenue in 18 MonthsMuntasir Rashid is a co-founder of Postpace, an AI-powered SEO writing tool
They launched the company from Bangladesh
in November 2020 and Muntasir has shared the following updates along the way…
Muntasir and his co-founder Moin had previously run a SaaS development agency, so they had lots of experience building SaaS solutions.
But from reading Muntasir’s updates it’s clear that they still had to experiment a ton while building Postpace to figure out what worked best.
One thing that has worked well for them is “launching” the product endlessly…
Celebrating a feature launch is a great way to build community and traffic. Break the cycle of boring feature announcements and actually treat every feature launch as a product launch. Trust me, when it comes to SaaS, you can’t launch enough times. We have launched more than 80 times so far
(Btw, you can get a lifetime deal on Postspace for only $79 on AppSumo.)

The episodes:
Does the Crypto Crash Mean the Blockchain Is Over? Are N.F.T.s All Scams? What Problems Does Crypto Solve, Anyway? Also a good listen is a recent episode of This American Life called The Reluctant Explorer, about a guy who became a multimillionaire in a week and a half after an “NFT archaeologist” contacted him about an old website he’d created

$1M After 3 Years of Self-EmploymentThat’s Daniel Vassallo’s story.
And he’s done it via multiple income streams: an online course, a paid community, info products, freelancing, affiliate marketing…
In the same thread he shares 3 forms of self-employment income for developers…
SaaS: Takes a long time for meaningful returns.
Info Products: High volatility, unpredictable, potential for extremely high ROI.

Broke Student to 6-Figure FreelancerAn inspiring story about Komal Ahuja, who was a broke 20-year-old professional dancer studying literature when the pandemic hit
She started writing online “about anything and everything” and eventually stumbled into a freelance gig when a company DM’d her via LinkedIn.
It’s been a tough couple of years for Komal – “there were days I had to cry because of so much criticism” – but now she’s earning $100,000+ per year as a freelance B2B SaaS writer
She recommends HubSpot’s free content marketing course, and taking on subcontracting work to learn from more experienced writers…
The Anatomy of a Viral LinkedIn Post“(Working under writers) enhances your learning so much more than you could ever learn by yourself by watching any online videos. They criticize you based on their experience. They have a lot to add, which can actually act as invaluable feedback.”
If I was looking for freelance clients these days, I’d be spending quite a bit of time on LinkedIn.
I’d look to build an audience there by using these tips from Justin Welsh
He provides a template for this opener that racked up 4.7 million impressions…
$1,400 in Pre-Sales (Digital Product)The 9 to 5 is getting pummeled.
The great resignation is growing faster than ever.
And I love it. Why?
Gene Maryushenko writes about his experience pre-selling a digital product via Gumroad, to the tune of $1400
The product is Tailwind CSS React Application Components.
Yeah, I’m not sure what that is either, but no worries. The important takeaway is that Gene was able to leverage his audience of ~5000 followers on Twitter for the pre-sale.
Gene’s advice if you don’t already have an audience…
I would start hanging out where your potential customers hang out – Facebook groups, Slack channels, here on indie hackers by providing something of value. Your goal is to tease out what’s coming, but also to build rapport and trust. You want people to be familiar with who you are before you even show them anything for sale.
Also, this tweet from Gene, about shutting down another of his products, speaks to the highs and lows of entrepreneurship
My latest batch of personal ramblings is here if you fancy a look

Kat McKinnon spent 20 years running an ecommerce agency, but then…
… in 2019 I noticed something wild was happening with a handful of client blogs we had created.
In one blog, organic traffic blew up from 800 to 150,000+ unique views per month, over 15 months. And for another client, we added $250,000 to their monthly online sales in 6 months, solely from their blog traffic.
So Kat shut down her ecom agency and started a content agency instead, which has grown to $40,000/month in ~2 years
Here’s one of the first articles her agency produced, for a client that makes pens: 35 Handwriting Styles We Wish We Had
According to Kat, that article “continues to bring in $10,000s in revenue” for the client.
This 1 Book Changed EverythingRegarding the success of CopySmiths, Kat writes…
It wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t read a particular book that utterly changed my business life.
That book is Work The System by Sam Carpenter
You can get it for a few bucks on Kindle or read/listen to it for free with a 60-day trial of Scribd.
BiggerPockets also has a good podcast episode about the book.
$100,000/Month Helping You TweetTweet Hunter is a suite of tools to help you build and monetize an audience on Twitter.
Co-founder JK Molina tweeted about the milestone along with a photo of himself at a local bazaar. The caption…
Me selling perfume and shirts at the local bazaar in 2017. That day I sold 1 shirt and made $14. Today I make over $3,000 a day.
Tweet Hunter has only been around since May 2021
Fascinating write-up here about how they grew the company to $20K MRR. One of their primary strategies has been to create lots of useful and/or fun free tools for Twitter.
For example:

Best Viral TweetsBest Viral ThreadsBest Fitness Tweets30K Weekly Downloads = $100K/YearA recent article from Cal Newport in The New Yorker: The Rise of the Internet’s Creative Middle Class
Deep in there Cal drops this nugget
According to an advertising agency I consulted… a weekly podcast that generates thirty thousand downloads per episode should be able to reach Kelly’s target of generating a hundred thousand dollars a year in income.
I’ll emphasize the word should.
A podcast with 30,000 weekly downloads doesn’t automatically earn you $100,000 a year. But you should be able to sell enough ad spots at that level to crack six figures
Selling ads ain’t the only way.
Many podcasts are used more as a marketing channel, providing stand-alone value with regular reminders that they have related products or services for sale
Patreon is another option. Select examples via this Gaps article…
For Crying Out Loud: $10,680+ per monthDoughboys: $11,390+ per monthTrue Crime Obsessed: $247,325+ per monthMy favorite example, from the same article…
There’s literally a podcast making over $2,000 per month giving commentary on every single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
(Actually, it’s more like $5000+ per month now
)
Another way to monetize is via Glow.fm, which seems to be the Substack of the podcast world.
Glow itself reportedly sold to Libsyn for $1.2 million a year ago.

A few I picked out from browsing their TikTok…
Fortnite gamer illusion: $2500 to $4000/monthFounder of CreatorML.com (tools for YouTubers): $55,000 in first 6 monthsMiami Comedy: 6 figures just from social mediaFounder of Fourplay dating app: $0 so farCopywriter: $80k full-time job + $35k freelancingThey’ve also produced this massive spreadsheet listing hundreds of professionals, their location, and how much money they make.
Salary Transparent Street is a great concept in itself. Best I can tell, they only started back in April and have already built up that massive following. Their videos are short and simple interviews, very little editing, and the interviewer rarely appears on screen herself.
And there are plenty of ways they can monetize
What other niche might this approach work well for?
How Much Money Do Freelancers Make?Lots of answers to that question in the comments here: Freelancers and consultants, what are your rates?
Including…
Web developer: $125/hourMarketing manager: $475/month for max 4 hours of weekly consulting.Web and app prototyping: $3-5K per weekDesigner: logos for $4-5K , websites for $10K+Branding service: $150/hourLanding page service: $123-200/hourVirtual assistant: $50/hourAlso a great comment there from full-stack developer Rohan Malhotra, which highlights how you can raise your rates steadily over time…
I’ve been freelancing for the past 4 years. In the beginning, it was peanuts compared to now. Example: I was charging about $10 per hour for a year and a half. Than $40 and now I charge upward of $100 per hour…
I think it is just about if you can provide value. Companies, at least good one, have the capabilities and willingness to pay your price so long as you can provide results.

0 to $15K/Month in 1 YearSam Short announced this milestone back in April…
Typeshare just hit $15,000 MRR
A year ago, I hadn’t even made $1 online.
Amazing what can happen when you launch something and slowly improve it!
Typeshare is a writing platform that lets you write content once and have it automatically formatted and posted to different platforms (eg. Medium, Twitter, LinkedIn).
More recently, Sam announced that Typeshare has hit $21,000 in monthly recurring revenue
Although Sam went from 0 to $21K/month pretty fast, he notes that he was actually “trying things for like 5 years before” he made that first $1.
In terms of marketing, Sam credits “mostly Twitter and great flywheels (Ship30for30)”

We charged people $20 to look at their website and provide a report on what state it was in, how well it was optimised, and what they should change.
We then said we’d credit the $20 towards any of our recurring SEO services. The diagnostic service was really effective for us, converting more than half the people who bought a report into an ongoing recurring program.
