"I am an artist; illustrator and graphic designer who writes on my free time. But with all the imagination I have running lose, there came some stories… And there came some books!"

For the past few years, Isis Sousa started her Indie Author journey, publishing works of Gothic Fiction, which she writes on her free time. These have been so far a hobby, but the author intends to reach a larger readership through the publishing of her upcoming titles.

Her writing is mainly influenced by classic Gothic authors such as Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde and Mary Shelley with a hint of modern names such as Tim Burton, Stephen King and John Logan.

Her books have been featured on GOTHIC BEAUTY magazine, GINGER NUTS OF HORROR and many blogs worldwide.

Until my early teens, I did only write or draw when I was inspired, when I felt the urge to do it. Since I was determined to make a living out of illustration and graphic design that needed to change. I learned how to keep inspired every day, no matter what and how in order to do that, I literally had to "kill the muse". I do browse art every day and I do work with it as well, though most digitally.
Regarding writing, I jot down ideas every day in my "idea book" and in the back of my mind. I do not not set aside time to write regularly since it is a hobby and has secondary importance compared to drawing or painting for me. But from times to times, I add writing to my schedule, when I have a new story ready to be drafted, like once or twice a year. Then I write for that period, let's say a month or two, max, but always after my work day and/or during weekends. Cheers and thanks for asking :)(less)

Book 2, which happens in the countryside, was inspired in Norway - but just the setting. The lead male character's family style was based in a Brazilian/Estadunidense back-in-time family culture that has difficulty adapting to our times. Book 3, which maybe will come next year will be back in the city setting. Cheers!(less)

description It has been a while since I did a blogpost or have been to GoodReads, that’s because, besides much work, I have traveled to France and Portugal, to attend two Computer Graphics events with focus on Concept Art/VFX/Animation and 3Dart, I worked and studied at these events – which were a great place to be since I live out of digital illustration/concept art.

Now, onto Gothic Books… Today I am rev... Read more of this blog post »
