Author Q&A

So according to my home page Goodreads has this new feature where you can ask authors questions.

I think the widget is on my profile somewhere...I can't tell.

So yeah, if you have a question you would like to submit to me and have me post an answer to, do it!

PSA: Flossing Your Teeth

The dentist says you should do it--but most of you probably don't. Or, at least, don't every day.

But there are some times when it is IMPERATIVE that you floss.

1. You can actually see food caught between your teeth.
--That's just disgusting. Floss. Now.

2. You ate something like popcorn or peanuts or poppyseeds.
--The bits of shell will irritate your gums. Flossing will remove them.

3. You ate raw fish, beef, or meat in general.
--Nothing will give you stink-breath like rotting meat caught between your teeth! Unless you want to be like Dracula with halitosis, FLOSS.

4. You ate chewy candy, or something with lemon in it.
--This stuff wears away the enamel on your teeth, leading to cavities! Floss--and also brush. In fact, it's a pretty good idea to brush your teeth immediately after eating candy or lemon stuff, too.

5. You have braces.
--Floss every day. Otherwise you'll have gross skidmarks on your teeth where the braces tracks were. You don't want the oral equivalent of shit-stains on your teeth, right? Right. Floss!

This has been a public service announcement brought to you by the person who is tired of trying not to flinch when you breath in her face. :D

Quotes of 'Famous' People--I'm on the List, Ergo...

http://quotesgem.com/authors

I'm not sure why I made the list, but I'm super flattered that I did!

Especially since I'm sandwiched between Nelson Mandela and Nicholas Sparks .

This is **probably** because of alphabetical order, but I'm just going to go ahead and take it as a sign of my greatness.

/not really

STILL. THIS IS AWESOME!

How Do You Read X Books in a Day?

Lately, I've had some people ask me how it is possible to read more than five books in a day. I think it's because of that interview I gave.

It's simple.

You pick up a book. You open it up. You read until you reach the end.

Proceed until you run out of books/hours in the day.

But in all seriousness:

I learned to read when I was four-years-old. So by the time I entered kindergarten, I'd already been reading for a full year longer than most of my peers. By fifth grade I was reading at a college level. This is what happens when you are a shy, lonely little kid who doesn't have a lot of friends.

I have taken various reading tests, and depending on the subject matter I can read between 600-700 words per minute. My reading comprehension, admittedly, is not quite so good, but is still above average.

So that is how I read so many books. It is a combination of an early start in life, lots of practice, and way too much free time. I don't currently have a job, so in between job applications and time spent with friends and working out, I read as much as I can, because you only get one brain, and it's important to give it things to do so it doesn't get flabby and slow.

I hope that answers your questions. It's always very sweet when people take an interest in your abilities and hobbies. Just practice, practice, practice, and you'll find your own reading speed go up, too!

This New Twitter Profile Thing

I'm a huge technofail. I just now discovered that

A) Twitter has a notifications button (and I had like 1000 notifications apparently. Oops. Not even going to bother trying to wade through that all that because holy shit. I gave up around 200 or so. x_x)

B) Twitter pulled a Facebook and changed its layout.

NGL, I love this new streamlined look. I made a montage of my book covers and changed my pic and color scheme and now I feel like a celebrity. :)

Follow me! <3
