Adelle Stripe was born in York in 1976. Her debut novel, Black Teeth and a Brilliant Smile, was inspired by the life and work of playwright Andrea Dunbar. It was adapted for stage in 2019. Ten Thousand Apologies, her biography of the cult UK band Fat White Family, is a Sunday Times bestseller and was shortlisted for the Penderyn Music Book Prize.

Adelle is a 2023 Burgess Fellow at the University of Manchester.

She lives in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, UK.
