Harlan Vaughn shared a highlight from
The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche
The still revolutionary insight of Buddhism is that life and death are in the mind, and nowhere else. Mind is revealed as the universal basis of experience—the creator of happiness and the creator of suffering, the creator of what we call life and what we call death.

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche
If you breathe out and you cannot breathe in again, you are dead. It’s as simple as that. As a Tibetan saying goes: “Tomorrow or the next life—which comes first, we never know.”

Harlan Vaughn shared a highlight from
The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche
Why do we live in such terror of death? Because our instinctive desire is to live and to go on living, and death is a savage end to everything we hold familiar.

“As someone once said, SINCERITY is the single most important human characteristic. So once you can fake THAT, you're made.”

“I would be a fully-paid-up member of the 'I Hate Paperwork Club' if I could summon the enthusiasm to fill in the application form.”
John Dolan, Everyone Burns

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it; or because it is in your traditions; or because many speak about it; or because it is found in your religious books; or because your teachers and elders believe it; or because you have become attached to it from habit.”

“I leave Sisyphus at the foot of the mountain. One always finds one's burden again. But Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of that night-filled mountain, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”
Albert Camus

“My job is to assist you in finding the answer that is right for you. Not the answer that would be right for me.”

“Karma means ‘action’. Like many, you misunderstand its nature. Past misdeeds can be corrected before your karma ripens: it is not some pre-determined fate. It is what you do now that counts.”
